Today's finish is a pair of hand knit socks! The color is so pretty....reminds me of a perfectly ripe avocado.
Three things about knitting socks:
1. They take a long time.
2. They give me ample opportunity to learn to look past and live with minor imperfections.
3. They are still TOTALLY worth it! (Nothing beats the feel of hand knit socks on cold toes.)
I believe this is my 8th pair of hand knit socks to date. I have an ongoing goal to keep up my sock knitting skills...because if you don't use it, you lose it. My last pair was finished in 2012, but my feelings on the subject still remain the same. Also, the portability factor can't be beat.

They do take a long time, don't they? Don't ask me how many pair I have that are WIPs. I'm not telling. :)
I enjoy knitting, but could never get the hang of knitting with 4 double pointed needles - is that how you turn your heel, with double pointed needles? I tried repeatedly, but would have huge holes in my knitting where I just couldn't seem to wrap the yarn tight enough.
Yours look great though, and it does seem like a great, portable project to always have on hand. I bet the socks last forever, and I'm just betting after all that effort, you never lose one either!

Great color! My sister knitted some socks for me a while ago. I almost hate to wear them. I know they took forever and I don't want to wear them out! :-) Silly, I know.

LOVE the socks! I wish I didn't look like I was fighting with my knitting needles when I make the occasional attempt to work with any k.needle smaller than a sz 13...lol. One day....some day.... *wink*

Love the color. Could NOT wear them here though right now, except maybe at work where they crank up the a/c!
I love handknit socks too. While I appreciate the portability while I'm making them, I really love the fact that there's enough lanolin in the wool to keep my heels from drying out.

Socks do take a long time, don't they! I thought I could knit them quickly and bought a mountain of sock yarn, but I soon learned how wrong I was.
Oh that's a gorgeous green - definitely lush and verdant and perfect for reminding you of the spring when you get long winters!

I totally agree about the benefits of sock knitting. I always have a pair in the works. It doesn't matter to me how long it takes to finish them as I work on them as the mood moves me. I take them with me when I have to drive my neighbor to her doctor appointments. I listen to an audible book on my phone and knit while I wait for to be finished.
I love our avocado socks! Sock knitting & wearing will never grow old for me. :)

I don't know if pieces of cotton will return to view the comments but there are so many ways to knit socks other than on DPNs. I love to use the 9 inch small circulars. I just finished a pair using 2 circular needles and I have done magic loop. The key is to try the other options several times. Sometimes new methods take more time to get accustomed to. The key is to practice, practice, practice.

Socks are my go-to knit, to the point that my sock drawer (I have one just for socks, really) is bursting at the seams. Your green pair is lovely!
