quilt-a-long, week 2

Welcome to week 2 of the quilt-a-long. I can not believe the response that I got from all of you-thank you so much! It's still not too late to join in if you would like. I am putting a link to the instructions from each week in the sidebar under the tutorials section so they will be easy to reference. I am using a 1/4" seam allowance throughout.

For block 2:

cut 10 squares 2.5" from the background fabric

cut 2 squares 4.5" from the background fabric

cut 6 squares 2.5" from fabric 1

cut 6 rectangles 2.5" x 4.5" from fabric 2

layout and sew together as shown

Each block should measure (approximately) 12.5" square when to this point.

If you have any questions, I will try to answer them in the comments once again.
I hope you all are having fun with this!

I've added a flickr group here for the quilt-a-long.

this is awesome! I'll have pictures up of last week's soon. I hope some of my linky pals signed up, too.

And thanks for making them all "idiot" (aka - shelli) proof! ;)

It great! Of course, I haven't even gotten to last week's but I'm sure I'll be able to whip them both up in one day. Stay tuned.

gosh, I really wish I had the time to do this...but the good thing is, it will always be available on your blog for me to follow and do when I have the time and the fabric! Yahoo!

What a great idea Amandajean! Thanks :)

PS - on the whole 1/4 inch thing.... egads - I've always assumed that if "I can't see the fabric as I sew" it's 1/4 inch - have I been wrong all along? (I just went to quiltville, and now I may have to get out a tape measure!)

What a cool, cool block! Novice that I am, I thought that we'd be doing the same block as the first, but in different patterned fabrics. Now, I'm super-excited to see what sorts of quilt blocks you'll have us doing down the road.

Thanks Amanda!

I really like this one...wish I had time to make along with you!

So, be honest, are you going to be stitching under the Thanksgiving table? Hee hee, I might be knitting a sock when no one is looking!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'd like to join though I know I will not be able to finish a block per week. But what the hey, right?

How much fabric would I need? My choice of "sets of scraps" would depend on that.

my blog is http://quilt-o-mania.blogspot.com

I finished my blocks this morning and on my blog are some embroidered blocks I found that will go "perfectly" with my 30's and my quilt along blocks. I'll join the flickr group this weekend
Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you for the patterns....

I got a little nervous when I saw this week's square, but it turned out nicely. I posted a picture on my blog (I need to figure out how to add it to your flicker group).

Thanks again for doing this!!!

Read about your quilt-along on Anina's blog, Twiddletails. I'm up to my earlobes in Block of the Month quilts that I am barely keeping up with.

When will you start your next quilt-along? It sounds like fun, and Anina's blocks are lovely! I'm sure your Flickr group is full of very pretty fabric choices as well!

Fondly,
Penny
