it's good to be home...

...and back in the quilting groove.

Vacation was pretty good. It's a lot of work to be on vacation (especially with kids-even if it was only 2 out of 3), but it was wonderful to be able to soak up some Florida sunshine. It was nice to need a sweatshirt because the air conditioning was cranked up too high rather than because the temperatures have plumetted below zero. It has made me especially anxious for spring, though.

The quilt above was made by Heather. I quilted it, making good on my end of the bartering deal that we had made. I am always in awe how much quilting changes the look of a quilt. It's fun to watch it transform each step of the way.

Of course I am doing a little quilt planning of my own. Never mind that I have a bunch of quilts in progress already.....I think I am up to 8 currently. These are the fabrics that I have chosen to make my own happy hour quilt. I just love that pattern.

This weekend I have a fabric shopping trip planned and I am sooo looking forward to it! I haven't bought any fabric so far this year, and I am ready!!! My main goal is to find some backing fabric for the 5 quilt tops I have finished. I also have a list of things that would be helpful for the stash, in case my eye would wander. ;)

Happy weekend to you all!

I get to be your first commenter on this post! Have a good time finding some backing fabric...it isn't always a short process, but it seems easier if you have someone else to give input.

Love the colors you have picked out for your new Happy Hour. Someday I'll get started on mine. I have a few projects to finish first, though.
Glad you had a nice trip and the boys had fun at Disney!

so glad that you had a nice trip and I am glad your back.
I love the colors you picked for your happy hour quilt. I actually picked that pattern up at a quilt store when I was in Utah in January and can't wait to start on it,but first I must finish miss rachael's quilt for her bed.

Hello, I just had to take the time to let you know how much I love your quilts. The nicest quilt I ever made was a Churn Dash quilt for a friend; this can be seen on the front of my web page. I used assorted colors in cotton flannel and it turned out very nice. I hope to learn how to make quilts in the future like your House of Girls.

Glad you had a lovely holiday. Our long holidays are over, kids go back to school on Monday and I really don't want them to go. What is a 'happy hour quilt'?

Hey! The happy hour quilt is next on my list too! I'm glad you had a great holiday. It's funny, your longing for spring, we were all saying here that we can't wait for winter! So sick of summer.

So good to have you back, friend! I need a vacation from my "vacation," too. Looks like you found some great fabric (in the post that follows). Enjoy it, and enjoy being home.

I love that pattern that is shown in the quilt top your friend made -- what is it called, and where could I find it? I have a wedding ring quilt that my grandmother made for me about 14 years ago on my bed and now that she has passed away I don't want to let it get ruined, so when I saw this quilt I just loved it and would love to make one for my bed. Please let me know! Thanks!
