Today I "borrowed" from the family couch time quilt that is in progress and turned a few of the slabs into a quilted apron. I've been thinking of making one of these for a few months...at least....probably more! It worked out much better than I thought it would, which is sweeeet! I'm sure I will use it all. the. time.
I made the ties extra long so they wrap around my waist and tie in the front. Of course they are red polka dots, right? I used the thinnest batting I have, quilted it on the diagonal with a cross hatch to stabilize the patchwork, mainly. I added a layer of Kona cotton, stitched around the perimeter and flipped it right side out using the birthing method. I top stitched around the outside edges to finish it off. It's scrap project #99/101! And I LOVE IT!!!
Only 2 more scrap projects to go! And one is already finished...woo-hoo! It's bittersweet to be this close to wrapping up my scrap challenge. It's been so very fun! I'll definitely miss it....
Happy Monday to you!

Your scrap projects are all amazing... But this one really surprised me! What a cute apron! Loved reading about your processes. 101? You can do it!!!!!!

You, my dear, are brilliant. This apron is beautiful. I'm envious of your scrap stash.
Oh this is just genius! I'd never have thought of a scrap patchwork apron but now I really want to go and empty the scraps all over the floor and start making one - it's lovely!
I am most impressed with your patchwork apron - I love aprons and wear one every day when I cook.
Mmmm, I'm sure I could make one too, can hardly wait to start!
PS: Don't stop your scrap challenge - how about taking it up to 200?

Love it!!! Just the ideia I needed!!!
Thank you!!Happy New Year!
an absolutely practical and super cute idea! I've a special box of scraps from my grandmother. I think you have inspired what I shall use them for!
I'm gonna have to make one! How cute!
This is an apron even I would wear :) Its gorgeous!!!
That is so you!
I like the birthing method too ;) but my favorite part of the apron is the scrap on the top that is black with two circles on it. I thought it looked like you had created a pocket for a pair of scissors.
Such a darling apron! I'd never wear it though... too pretty, and besides, I don't cook! I'm blessed to have a hubs who does all the grocery-shopping and cooking. I'm always on clean-up duty, and that suits me just fine. I love to sew all day and then be called to dinner. It doesn't get much better than that! I admire you for tackling 100 scrap projects in 2014. I'd be terrified to make a commitment like that having learned that you never know what life will throw at you and demand time away from your sewing room. All the best for 2015, Amanda Jean. I'm sure you have some new uber-lofty goals in mind. :-)
Love the apron and all your scrap projects. They are wonderful so I hope you keep going.
pretty sure a more "fitting" apron could not be made for you and it's just darling! I love the idea of scrap challenge 2.0 I love all of your ideas!
That is one awesome looking apron!
It seemed like such a daunting task to complete 101 Scrap Projects, but when you announced that was your goal, I just knew you'd do it! Congrats to you, just a wee bit ahead of time. It has been tremendous fun watching what you roll off your machine :)
Absolutely love this! I'm planning on making my little granddaughter an apron for her birthday and I have a tin of darling little girl fabric! Your scrap projects are such an inspiration - please don't stop!!!
