Welcome to finish it up Friday!
Yesterday spent the day sewing, just for the fun of it. And it was good.
I always have a plethora of strings....so I am making another candy coated quilt. This will be my 3rd one! (Pattern is in the book Sunday Morning Quilts.) Playing with so much color has been a good antidote to the rainy and dreary weather that we've had all. week. long.
As a thank you for joining me each week for finish it up Friday, I'm going to do a little giveaway. (I actually think I have too many scraps, can you believe it?!) If you'd like to win a little scrap bundle from me, please leave a comment in this post. In your comment, I'd love to hear if you have any fun weekend plans. (International entries welcome, as long as you are willing to pay the shipping overages if sent outside the US.) One comment per person and please make sure that I have a way of contacting you. Thanks!
Now, it's time to link up your finishes. Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!

Thanks for the chance to win! I am visiting my sister this weekend for our once a year girls only weekend
I love your all of your tips and pics of your quilts. I'm struggling with my churn dash blocks. For some reason they just are not square. I've tried making sure my cuts are all the same, my seams are 1/4" and I'm using starch before I press. But I keep getting uneven sections. Ugh! Any advice?
Working on a scrappy quilt now and would love some more variety. I am spending the day today with my mom who has been very sick but is finally making great improvement! Sunday I will be glad to have my husband home after a week of travels and I am helping with a charity fashion show.
My husband and I are attending a Kentucky Derby party at his club in NYC. We run an activity at the event to raise money for the Tapp Foundation which provides scholarships to the employees of the club and their families. No sewing on Saturday, but it is a fun event and a good cause.
I am going to a two day Floriani stabilizer seminar with three of my best sewing buddies.

I try to always squeeze in sewing but this weekend the entire house is filled with family! We are celebrating birthdays! I love scrap quilts and love yours - the last one I made, I felt I didn't have enough solids so of course I had to add to scraps, never enough! Thanks for sharing!

I'm new to quilting and don't have much in the way of scraps, so I'd love to add some to my stash! My fun weekend plans involve just spending time with my family at home, with maybe a bit of quilting involved, and a dinner date with the husband! Thanks for the giveaway!
For the first time in weeks I'm making sewing time for myself :-) Already have some boxy bags and a Noodlehead cargo duffle cut out!
how I wouLd love a bundle of scraps, being quite new to quilting I have not built up a supply yet. You ask about plans for the weekend, well yesterday I bought a table from ikea, my kitchen table is round, not good for quilting so I now have 2 parcels with the table in in pieces but not a clue how to put it together, this was going to be my weekend project but too scared t open it! times like this a man would be useful! Think I might have to get my daughter to take me back with it for a refund.
You have such lovely scraps--they'd be so fun to play with! My weekend plans include two naps, some work in the yard since it will be cooler for a couple days, and some Linus Project sewing. Maybe even some "for me" sewing! And bruncht with a friend after church tomorrow. Just finished an early morning snail hunt, so breakfast and nap are next.
Love this pattern- it looks like so much fun (as do your scraps :-)) Hope to get some sewing in today!
I love scraps and would love to win a scrap bundle from you! I am planning on working on my UFO projects this weekend. I am working on another Film at Five and a black, white and green strippy quilt.

My husband and I will be packing today and tomorrow (Sunday) we will be driving to Pasadena to start a week long visit with our daughter, SIL, and granddaughter. So looking forward to it...the visit, not the drive.
I am taking care of my daughter who was just released from the hospital after having a stem cell transplant. I brought her 8 year old daughter up to the city for a visit. No sewing until I get home Monday but I would love to have some new scraps as I make many scrap quilts. Thanks for this opportunity to win them.
Such wonderful scraps would be awesome! Your scrap love inspires me!
I love other people's scraps and my friend who is new to quilting, keeps digging into my scrap bags.

Thank you for hosting this every week! Love the string quilt. This weekend is the Fur Ball here. I donated a quilt that I made for the raffle. I hope it raises some money for the homeless animals here!

I'll be working on a quilt for my sister's grandson.
I just finished a very scrappy gypsy wife quilt and would love more scraps! :) This weekend I hope to get out in the yard and enjoy the weather!
We will be planting corn and checking cows for new calves!! I mostly will be cooking and running here and there when needed!!
Love, love, love scraps. I'll be squeezing the last of the oranges on our trees today and then we get to babysit our darling grand daughter tomorrow.
I would love to win some of your scraps -- I love scrap quilts. Anyway, today I will work on an orange and bllue quilt that I am making for a young woman from Romania who lived with us for 7 years while she worked on her masters and her doctorate at the University of Illinois. She will receive her hood the middle of this month. Tonight we will go to an Alabama Children's Choir concert that our granddaughter who is a senior in high school will be singing in. She has sung in the choirs since she was seven, but we haven't been able to attend many because we lived in Illinois. Last June we moved to Alabama, and I am looking forward to attending the concert. Tomorrow afternoon I will do some more sewing on the "I" quilt. Nancy: rangerer@sbcglobal.net
I have been wanting to do a string quilt, and this bundle would be just the thing to get me started! Thanks for the chance to win!
I began building a stash about 20 years ago and saving scraps of fabric, but did very little quilting until recently when I found "modern quilts." I have already completed three quilts in this "style" this year using the fabrics I have on hand. I am in love with many of the quilts in Sunday Morning Quilts and in A Month of Sundays and have already planned several to keep me busy on my 3 month summer vacation in Maryland. I am determined to burn through the many of old fabrics before I add substantially to the stash, but I sure could use some of the brighter colors in the to add interest and variety to my upcoming projects. Thanks for all the great ideas and inspiration.
With all the ways you have shown me how to use scraps, I will never, ever have too many scraps.
I need to get the garden ready for planting this year so cleaning that up some is a plan. Other then that its the wife's to-do list which involves 3 quilts she wants me to finish quilting.

awesome! We don't have any plans this weekend except recovering from our Disneyland vacation last week and house hunting tomorrow (which is no longer fun).
Why are other people's scrap fabric more interesting than my own? We went to Las Vegas last weekend and it was fun but my sewing machine missed me real bad...so we're spending time together today. :)
Thank you for the giveaway. Last night we went to a potluck and hymn sing, and today is my son's birthday party with his friends (it's noisy out there!). Tomorrow will be a real day of rest!

This weekend? Nothing special Saturday, but Sunday is install day for the swing set we bought the kids (3.5 years and 6 weeks).
Oh, who wouldn't love a collection of your cheerful scraps. Would be fun to see how your collection differs from mine. As for weekend plans, hope to get to the library for the books I have on hold, and to catch up with misc. stuff around the house. May get out Sunday to watch runners in the Lincoln Marathon as they hit Mile 20 near where live and encourage them on the home stretch. Biggest race Lincoln has held, 12,500 runners.

It's always more fun to play with someone else's scraps than with your own. I would love to have some of yours.
This weekend, beyond attending church, I am putting together the blocks for a quilt top. The blocks have been sitting on my family room floor. My son and his wife will be coming for dinner on Monday so the floor needs to be cleared.
Love all the colorful craziness of the candy coated quilt. It makes me happy just to look at it.
Busy weekend, bridal shower & celebrating my husband's 47th birthday! Thanks :)
I love, LOVE your scrap quilts!!! One is definitely on my 'to do someday when I have time' list. My fun this weekend will be working. I'm a work in a nursing home so I get to spend my weekend with my 80+ year old friends. I feel very blessed to get to spend time with them. There's a lot of wisdom and love beneath those grey hairs.

Amanda,
Your postings are so inspiring !!!! After reading your blog all I want to do is sew !

Keep up the great work you do but also take time to take care of yourself.
This weekend was busy with a chocolate making class at Rachael Dunn's chocolate factory followed by 6 (6!!) hours of shopping for a prom dress for my 16-year old daughter. At least we had chocolate waiting after all that shopping. I'd really enjoy more scraps

My family was all in town this weekend to throw me a little "sprinkle" for our baby coming in 11 days! It was a great little get together of friends & family and celebration of all things tiny!

Scraps!!!!! A great weekend spending time with family. Love your blog.
This is such a beautiful quilt, I want to make one. I am going to look for the book. Thanks for posting your completed project.
This probably counts as one of your projects of ways to use up scraps - give them away!! Our weekend involved lots of outdoor play and bike riding, even an outdoor movie at a neighbor's house. I also fell into a book like falling into the deep end of the pool. It's so nice to submerse myself in a good read - it's been awhile!
Hope this is still open - your scraps are so much brighter than mine and would certainly spice up my projects! My weekend plans were fabulous! I got a new puppy, and she is amazing. Thank you for this giveaway.
This weekend we spent time doing some spring cleaning and gardening. Then me some friends for dinner. Now that the "domestics" are done, I can start my new quilting project today. A sewing machine cover. YEAH!!!!
Dianne
