not a finish

Welcome to finish it up Friday!

Yesterday spent the day sewing, just for the fun of it. And it was good.
I always have a plethora of strings....so I am making another candy coated quilt. This will be my 3rd one! (Pattern is in the book Sunday Morning Quilts.) Playing with so much color has been a good antidote to the rainy and dreary weather that we've had all. week. long.
As a thank you for joining me each week for finish it up Friday, I'm going to do a little giveaway. (I actually think I have too many scraps, can you believe it?!) If you'd like to win a little scrap bundle from me, please leave a comment in this post. In your comment, I'd love to hear if you have any fun weekend plans. (International entries welcome, as long as you are willing to pay the shipping overages if sent outside the US.) One comment per person and please make sure that I have a way of contacting you. Thanks!

Now, it's time to link up your finishes. Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!

I love your all of your tips and pics of your quilts. I'm struggling with my churn dash blocks. For some reason they just are not square. I've tried making sure my cuts are all the same, my seams are 1/4" and I'm using starch before I press. But I keep getting uneven sections. Ugh! Any advice?

Working on a scrappy quilt now and would love some more variety. I am spending the day today with my mom who has been very sick but is finally making great improvement! Sunday I will be glad to have my husband home after a week of travels and I am helping with a charity fashion show.

how I wouLd love a bundle of scraps, being quite new to quilting I have not built up a supply yet. You ask about plans for the weekend, well yesterday I bought a table from ikea, my kitchen table is round, not good for quilting so I now have 2 parcels with the table in in pieces but not a clue how to put it together, this was going to be my weekend project but too scared t open it! times like this a man would be useful! Think I might have to get my daughter to take me back with it for a refund.

I would love to win some of your scraps -- I love scrap quilts. Anyway, today I will work on an orange and bllue quilt that I am making for a young woman from Romania who lived with us for 7 years while she worked on her masters and her doctorate at the University of Illinois. She will receive her hood the middle of this month. Tonight we will go to an Alabama Children's Choir concert that our granddaughter who is a senior in high school will be singing in. She has sung in the choirs since she was seven, but we haven't been able to attend many because we lived in Illinois. Last June we moved to Alabama, and I am looking forward to attending the concert. Tomorrow afternoon I will do some more sewing on the "I" quilt. Nancy: rangerer@sbcglobal.net

I have been wanting to do a string quilt, and this bundle would be just the thing to get me started! Thanks for the chance to win!

I began building a stash about 20 years ago and saving scraps of fabric, but did very little quilting until recently when I found "modern quilts." I have already completed three quilts in this "style" this year using the fabrics I have on hand. I am in love with many of the quilts in Sunday Morning Quilts and in A Month of Sundays and have already planned several to keep me busy on my 3 month summer vacation in Maryland. I am determined to burn through the many of old fabrics before I add substantially to the stash, but I sure could use some of the brighter colors in the to add interest and variety to my upcoming projects. Thanks for all the great ideas and inspiration.

With all the ways you have shown me how to use scraps, I will never, ever have too many scraps.
