quilt-a-long week 7

Welcome to week 7 of the quilt-a-long!

This block goes together pretty quickly.
For this one, I pressed my triangle seams open to reduce bulk.

Cut 8 squares 3.5" from the background fabric
Cut 4 squares 3.5" from the colored fabric

Cut 2 squares 3 7/8" from the background fabric
Cut 2 squares 3 7/8" from the colored fabric
(these 4 will be used for making the triangles)

Use the same method for making the triangles here that we used in the previous weeks.

layout as shown

sew together

and you have your completed block.

Any questions will be answered in the comments.

For those of you who are interested, I am already thinking about the next quilt a long. I am planning on making another sampler type quilt in all different star blocks. I'm gonna have to get over my triangle phobia once and for all. :)

thanks for quilting-a-long with me!

okay, you really inspire me. the whole quilting thing really intidimates me. I have only been sewing for nine months, and I have a very basic sewing machine. maybe after more sewing pratice, and an updated machine i will be more daring. Although, i could sew something a little more complex and just do the ties, right?

YEAH! This is so fun! I joined in late, but I am all caught up now. You can add me to the list. Mamaperreca.

I would definitely be down with the star quilt. I was wanting to make one for my brother. I think he would like the star patterns. I haven't tried stars before.

Woo hoo - the star one sounds like fun too! I've got to get caught up on this one though - I think I'm behind by two now! Ugh! May be a project for tomorrow. Em

Ok, I did not participate in this block along, but I would totally do the star one, I adore any quilts that have stars!

I HAD a phobia about triangles.. but how easy are they if you starch the crap out of them before you cut them to sew??? easy peasy!

I'd be up for another quilt along, I am also doing Bonnies Quiltville mystery quilt, and so far there is over 2500 bits in that sucker!

Thanks for week 7!

Count me in when you begin the STARS quilt-a-long! I'd love to learn how to make them. So far, I've only done the friendship star. Now that the holidays are over, plus the clean-up...I'm getting back to quilting. Need to finish up the last 3...

Your blocks are beautiful but don't look tooooo difficult for a semi-beginner level person like me! :)

Thanks very much. I have been lurking (and sewing) in the background. I finished round #5 today - I'm also making mine in 30's fabrics, but I'm making two of each block - just because I wasn't sure how I wanted to finish this up or have a second quilt or what.

Thanks for posting this.

I messed this block up, but I like the result. Instead of the colored squares lining up on the diagonal, I have a squat hexagon.
