tree

Well, I finally got the tree up today. The little hands in the house love it.
I like it, but I can't believe that I was really that country at one time.
My tastes have changed quite a bit.

This guy is my favorite.

This year at our house it is all about use what you have, do it yourself, eclectic, throw it together at the last minute Christmas. Fun times.

A surprise is on its way....

Christmas trees are always fun! And I too, think it's great that we can see how our tastes have changed based on our tree.
Happy Tree Trimming!

My tastes change every few years. You can tell by my magazine subscriptions...

What cute pictures! Isn't it funny how our tastes change? I look at my country stuff and often wonder the same thing. Then I wonder if I should hang on to it 'cause someday maybe it will be "vintage" LOL! 15??? Holy Cow woman, slow down. We're Not Worthy!!!

My first confession: It's been more than 2 months since I logged onto your blog. You've been busy, of course!
My second confession: I have a lot of "old" country ornaments hanging on my tree and decorating my home too.
I know you know my third confession: They are almost all made by you!!!!! That's why I keep them, wonderful memories are attached to each one. Remember the two snowmen families? The wooden stocking with Megan's name on it? The basic wood tree, with nothing else on it? The gingerbread man . . . I could go on and on.
Fourth confession: I love my ugly old tree with all the mismatched ornaments and would never trade it for a "designer" tree. Kind of the same way, I love all my "old" & mismatched friends (note: I left out the word ugly - that definitely doesn't apply).
Hope you are finding God's blessings in all moments and places.
Love You!
DH

We're just doing a use what you have thing around here too.
And our tree is not "designer" either, just ornaments collected over the years - an elk from Yellowstone, a flip-flop from Hawaii, etc.
I love your tree.

My decorating "style" has also changed over the years. My tree used to be full of country stuff with angels being the highlight. Now I have a girly, foo-foo tree with lots of tulle, glass ornaments, silvery stuff and lots of pink. Can you tell there is no man in my life?! Have fun decorating!!

Love your tree and all the ornaments. I think that's what makes a tree, all the different ornaments from past years:)

I have ornaments from when Neal + I were kids.

Every year we let the kids buy a few special ornaments for the tree.

In my family each year we give everyone in our family a christmas tree ornament.

So each year when I'm decorating I'm reminded of my sisters, brother, or when the kids picked out an ornament etc. Making trimming the tree special.

A great tree! I love to look at everyone's trees -- I don't put one up anymore as there is no one but me to look at it, so I go to everyone elses and gaze and dream about christmas past!

It looks lovely! We don't have a tree up this year, so I am enjoying seeing everyone else's :)

We still haven't put up our tree yet this year. We are normally at my parent's house for Christmas, so it's hard to do all of the work, then miss it that morning. We might get to it this weekend... I like your tree, especially the little wooden star, and your little girl is adorable...
