Welcome to finish it up Friday!
Last weekend at camp I finished my low volume slab quilt. She's a pretty little thing that I'm calling sweet and low. Many thanks to my friend Brianne for coming up with the clever name! The top is all scraps. My favorite! It took over a week to piece the top, which felt like for-ever! But, there are tons of tiny pieces in it, so I guess that makes sense.
For the backing I used some of my treasured Katie Jump Rope fabric. You know
that I must love the quilt top to use some of my out of print (hoarded) fabric. The bottom strip of fabric is a print I picked up at Loom when I was in Pittsburgh in May. I love to shop for fabric when I travel. It is THE perfect souvenir (if you ask me).
I auditioned a ton of different fabrics for the binding and this one was the winner. It came from my sweet friend Katherine
years ago. I'm delighted to have found the perfect project to use it in. It's the perfect finishing touch! (Thanks a bunch, Katherine!)
Looking at this photo, it's apparent that I love polka dots. No new news there! :P
For the quilting I just stippled it. If I were to do it again, I would straight line quilt it in a herringbone pattern. Oh, well. Delayed inspiration happens sometimes. Maybe for my next one!
The finished quilt measures 46" x 53". I'm not a fan of having my photo all over my blog, but it was suggested that I need to make an appearance here once in awhile. This one is for you, Melissa! :)
I'm counting this as scrap project #6.
How about you? Do you have a finish to share? If so, please link up! Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!
If you need a home for that one, you have my address. :-) Great pic, too!
Oh my, I love that scrappy goodness. What a beautiful finish Amanda!! And I agree, it is fun to see you every once and a while :)
Beautiful finish Amanda Jean! Love sweet and low and the binding really does set it off perfectly.
Sweet and low IS the perfect name...for a perfect little quilt!
That's a really pretty little quilt and what nice nail varnish you have on... is that just for the picture?? :)
Love, love this quilt! Great job!
this is such a gorgeous quilt AmandaJean. You definitely are a master of your scraps, it's fabulous!!!
This is lovely and I ADORE the name - so clever!
Very nice and sweet finish!
Love LOVE that quilt! The colors are so lovely and the name is perfect!
It is BEAUTIFUL.
I love this quilt! The colors are so soft and pretty with a few bright colors thrown in. Beautiful finish!
Gorgeous quilt and love the polka dots too!!
Gorgeous! Sweet indeed, I love how calming LV fabric is and I agree the binding is the perfect finish. I think herringbone quilting sounds really cool, off to google that!
Love the quilt Amanda Jean ! Binding and backing are perfect too!
Thanks for sharing...
Amanda, this quilt definitely deserves to be called Sweet. Not easy work with yellows as you did in this quilt (at least for me!).I also like the low volume quilt made by Cheryl on your book. I'm gonna give it a try someday. Thank you for the inspiration ;-)
Sweet indeed! I love the look of this quilt.
so did you just randomly sew your scraps together? I love it. love the low about it.
It's lovely - very restful, the sort of thing to really snuggle down under on a cool dusky evening.
It's lovely! You've inspired me, I hope to make one someday!
It looks fantastic! I horded all the low volume scraps at camp from those baskets and I've been buying a bunch online. You've inspired me to make my own even though I didn't think it was my style before. Loved sewing with you at Camp Stitchalot!
Love this one! It really is a sweet little quilt. Surprising how well scraps can look together...sometimes much better than a fabric line ever could. I'm Pinning this one!
Love this quilt and I love your Finish it Up Friday updates. It motivates me. Crazy right? And I love seeing the less notable bloggers gorgeous quilts because in fact there are thousands of talented bloggers beyond the 20+ everyone knows about bloggers. The variety inspires me!
I love Sweet and Low! I've got to get mine started, I can't decide what pattern to use!
Love your quilt! It's beautiful.
Very pretty. I love the backing just as much as the top!
A pretty quilt, for sure. I love bright colours, but have to try low volume sometime.
What a beautiful quilt. I love the low volume appeal. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for hosting the linky. Marie
This is just so beautiful, and I love the binding! It is perfect!
Oh how I love this one, Amanda!! Sigh.
Lovely Quilt! Next time you are in Pittsburgh, stop by my shop. I even carry your book. =)

I don't normally comment because I know you get inundated, but this quilt is too gorgeous not to say so! What a beautiful finish - and it's nice to see you in the photo too :-)
Oh, how I love your Sweet and Low quilt. I was drooling over those gorgeous scrappy low volume fabrics, then admiring the backing (wish I had some of that KJR in my stash ;o) AND then... I stopped short... hey, wait a minute! I know that binding fabric... I think I'd forgotten that I sent you some of that vintage find. Have to agree, it's PERFECT on Sweet and Low. Yay! Totally meant to be. LOVE IT.
Oh, that is gorgeous! Love, love it!
I am inspired. What a lovely, soft and cuddly looking quilt. Beautiful.
I love this one quilt swirled or herringbone.
Absolutely agree with every comment, such a lovely quilt!
I can't see the linky list anywhere? (I don't have a finish to link in but I do like to see what everyone else has done.) Am I not looking in the right place? It's just not showing for me at the bottom of your post like it usually does. ?? :-)
Soft and sweet! The name fits it perfectly.
another of your projects finished and looking wonderful.
Beautiful! I love the colors.
I love everything about your finished quilt. I have visited a few others who have posted finishes, thanks for the inspiration.
Another gorgeous finish! I do love that binding. It really makes the top shine! Nice to SEE you, Amanda Jean! And thanks for hosting the linky party each week.
I love the low volume prints--and the binding and backing. All around perfect!
Nice job on the pastel muted quilt. Sew pretty!
Your new quilt is quiet, lovely and beautiful! Good work.
It's nice to see your smiling face too!
I can see why you love this quilt. It is low volume perfection.
I love the colors in this one too. Yeah for you for another great scrap finish.
This goes to show that all quits are not created "equal" and as we say in my house, "I love your face!"
I really love the low volume prints!
I was hoping to finish the cardigan I was knitting, but was a bit busy giving birth! I'm so crafty I make people. :D
What a pretty quilt! It says "summer" all over it. I haven't had time to finish anything due to work and travel, but enjoy seeing what others have been working on.
Sweet and Low is Beautiful!!
Sweet & Low is a gorgeous piece; you have been very successful with that binding too !~!
If you love it this much what are you gonna do with it? Hang it in your sewing space? Or use it on the couch?
Your enjoyment in your quilting this quilt was obvious. Neat quilt.
Thank you for the Finish it Fridays postings. I visit each blog as time permits through the week. It is inspirational to see all the beauty in quilting, personality wise and talent.
I really like that little quilt. I'm thinking a low-volume scrap quilt would make a great picnic quilt :)
What a neat quilt! And I like seeing photos of the women whose blogs that I read :-)
Love it! I've been looking forward to making a low volume quilt ever since I bought your book. I chuckled when I read your comment about taking a week to piece the top and it seeming like forever. At the rate I'm going, I'd be happy with a month! Of course, it's all about ebbs and flows (this is my attempt to reassure myself that next week I will finish 7 quilt tops!).
