the linky party that wasn't

Do you ever have one of those weeks? I've certainly had one.

I did huge amounts of computer work this week getting some of my patterns ready to print. That's a HuGE job with a bazillion details. I think I spent more time at my desk this week than when I had a "real" job. I made some great progress, but man, it's a lot of work. All the while I was wondering what on earth I could finish for Friday that wouldn't be lame. I was sewing yesterday afternoon and I was able to finish a pillow cover that I love. I was in the zone and it came together without being forced. I had fun! I took lovely photos in that fleeting moment in the afternoon when the light was just perfect and 10 minutes later I was headed to a guild meeting with a quick sandwich in hand for dinner. I locked my keys in my van at the meeting. (Ugh.) This morning as I was trying to post, I encountered a million technical difficulties too boring to list and I have to admit defeat. My in house tech guy happens to have a full time job. (I'm so glad he does!) But that means I'm posting with no link up party this week. I have no photo to share here, but it is on flickr (there is a link on my sidebar to my flickr group) and I'll be posting it to Instagram shortly. So. Here's to keeping it real. And honest. I can't do it all. I have no cape. :) So, thanks for your understanding and I plan to return it regularly scheduled programming as soon as possible.

We are all just human. We can throw all the balls in the air and most of the time they don't hit the ground. Take a deep breath....it is no big deal. Jobs, health, love....what is important....a linky party?
Take Care!

I hope you can relax and have a cup of tea today. Whew. You can't do everything. Take it easy!

Do something fun now. You just had a miserable morning so now take a break and do something unrelated and fun for a while.

Thank you so much for all that you do with your blog. It is my go-to source for inspiration and for a fun read.

Have a great weekend.

Reality can be such a nusance. Shrug your shoulders a few times and roll your head from side to side. Relax and enjoy the rest of the day.

I think you deserve chocolate! Or whatever you love most! Kick your feet up, and take a nice afternoon off doing whatever you love most! Thank you for all the inspiration you share and for creating a community where we all can share and enjoy! Have a GREAT weekend with NO pressure!

awesome. I love your blog and it is things like this that make me like it more. You are really real about life and what happens. Hope you have a better go at things next week. Thrilled you managed to get sewing time in - I did not!!

Ummm, time for feet up, large bar of chocolate, a glass of something nice and a weekend without the internet, we will all still be here when you get back. Hope you get time for a lie in in bed too!

So IRONIC! Ive been trying to finish my blogpost for three weeks on my quilt so I could link up. Just came to link up a non-exciting post about it.

So now I can refine it with no rush. :D :D :D

Be kind to yourself. We all should be kinder to ourselves. I'm always thankful when other quilters show that they aren't superwomen!

Love your blog. Love the lovely comments above and agree with them all.
You do have a cape - it must be in your washing pile ;-)
We'll still be here next week :)
Enjoy the rest of your day!

Capes are highly over-rated - they get hung up in your sewing machine! It never hurts to take a break once in a while - don't work too hard!! Hugs!!

Lindy said...

Thanks for keeping it real! I haven't read all the links from last week yet, so I will just scroll back and catch up.

Sherry said...

I don't expect you to have a cape (but sometimes I think you do) LOL My morning started out so horrible, every thing planned for the day went wrong with one problem this morning (what a way to start my b'day) but it all ended well - the day finished off just fine. Just like you will get back on track - don't worry. Have a nice weekend AJ!

Your honesty about the realities of life is so refreshing! A post with no pictures?! Horrors! But so real, that it's wonderful! Keep up the great work!

I think this should be on a T-shirt for the group I'm planning on founding called Mediocre Moms where we don't have to be perfect to be great.

Here's to TGIF!!! Have a great weekend AmandaJean! Your linky party is always so fun and always a way for me to set and reach a goal. I remember one time I thought I had somehow missed Finish It Up Friday, that the linky wasn't there for some reason, a big sad moment...then I realized it was Thursday!!! We will catch ya next time around, eh?! :)

Sounds like you have had quite a week! Hopefully you can have a fun weekend. I know how much work it is to put together patterns. Many, many hours of typing, and making illustrations and rechecking your instructions. Kudos to you. The final product is worth it, though. :)

Sounds like my life!!
At the end of each session that I have that doesn't go according to plan I re-cap all that I am grateful for. Doesn't take long for a big smile to come across my face as I think of my four kids : )
Kudos to you for overcoming the obstacles!! Keep up your good work. We would miss you if you didn't keep in touch

Sorry you had a rough morning, but it's all good. Thanks for sharing, anyway, and enjoy your weekend.

I think it's time for a weekend of relaxing. Everything will still be there Monday morning. I can relate to the computer stuff so well too. I'm not a technical person so when things don't work I'm lost.

Patti said...

Don't you just love those days? Not! I think we've all been in your shoes. I still loved reading just text about your comings and goings. Take care and see you once your regular programming returns. :)

I had one of those days last Friday. While cleaning the fridge of the rental we are moving out of, I broke the sheet of glass that fits over the crisper drawers! It will cost $80. My day was just ruined. So I can understand.
