Terri's quilt

Welcome to finish it up Friday!
You may or may not know this, but finishing things is a big deal to me. My dad always impressed on me (and my siblings) "if you are going to start something, you need to finish it!" The end. I'm passionate about finishing what I start and sometimes I even adopt other peoples' WIPs and finish them! (No, I'm not offering to finish your WIPs!) :)
This past summer at the annual Gruber's retreat, Terri showed this quilt top that she had pieced a few years ago at that same retreat. Isn't it beautiful??? She was "over it," to use her words, so I offered to finish it. We decided it will be donated to Margaret's Hope Chest. Terri has one less WIP, I busted some stash, worked out a little bit of stress while quilting and I have a finish to share today. Plus, we get to support MHC. Everybody wins!
I pieced the back using larger chunks from my stash. I was able to eek out the backing using the width of fabric. It was close....within a 1/4" in some places, but it worked!
I stippled it using Isacord thread. This is my second time using this thread for quilting and man, it's smooth! I just wish it wasn't so shiny, or I'd use it all the time.
Apple green binding finishes things off. And another quilt is complete! Feels so good!
The quilt measures 42" x 56".

Now it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday! And please, when visiting the blogs from the links below, be kind in your comments. Thank you!

Have a GREAT weekend! xo

Wow, this turned out so beautiful! You're the best! Thank you SO much for finishing it for me, and for donating it. I am imagining the look on the person's face who receives this. I love the backing and the binding you chose.

How fun to be a part of your Friday Finish this week!

A great mix of colors, patterns, dark and light, completed with a beautiful quilting. A good lesson of what a quilt means. And your collaboration makes it even better!

Teri's quilt turned out quite lovely. It would be wonderful if there was service somewhere to help finish WIPs, but then one misses out on all the enjoyment of seeing the quilt through to the end. Quilting the quilt alot of times makes me see a quilt in a more favorable light. Thanks for having this linky party so we can all share.

About the Isacord thread, all whites are not equal. 0010 Silky White is realy shiny, as 0003 Ghost White is not. I bought the last one after I've done one quilt with the first one and find it too shiny.

Oh what a gorgeous quilt! It's so sweet that you offered to finish it and that it could be donated. Whoever receives it is going to love it and feel extra special at a time when they need it most.

"...sometimes I even adopt other peoples' WIPs and finish them! (No, I'm not offering to finish your WIPs!) :)" Darn! I got a tub full of problem children. LOL I got so far and they didn't turn out as nice as I envisioned them. I haven't figure out how to save/finish them so they set waiting on interspersion.

Terri did a great job of piecing and your quilting-n-binding really sets it off.

What a beautiful quilt finish! Your quilting is perfect -- not too much, not too little, well balanced, and shows the piecing off to best advantage without upstaging it. I really like how you framed the pinwheels with a softer fabric, almost like an echo or a cloud. I'm not describing this very well, but hopefully you get what I mean. Congratulations on a great finish!

Based on your comment, I now know why your Friday posts are so meaningful. It is wise of you to announce you are not finishing up other people's wips. You might have ended up with a lot of parcels.

That is so pretty and bright. Made me smile.

I love it!

I'm new to quilting (just one completed so far). What's the protocol on copying/imitating a design you see online? I'd like to do something like this quilt for my daughters, but I don't want to outright copy if that's frowned upon.

Love everything you make! I'm so impressed with your methodology with the pattern printing and bar coding....I released my UJ quilt pattern but I'm in the dark ages, as I have to print it myself and mail it out with the template. Such a struggle to learn all the technology AND find time for creativity! Do you feel the same, ever? Lovely work, as ever--you're such an inspiration. :D Have a lovely weekend. xx
