road trip

Before we jump into the post for today, I want to let you know that Anna from Noodlehead is giving away a copy of Sunday Morning Quilts. Head over and say hi for a chance to win!
Last Saturday my friend Brianne and I were able to take a road trip down to the La Crosse area to visit Olive Juice Quilts. The trip was something that we had talked about doing for a long time, but the details were planned at the very last minute. Thankfully everything worked out and we had a blast! Not to mention that it was the most beautiful day for a road trip.
Tula Pink spoke about her fabric designing process and she also did a trunk show. It was a very neat event to take part in! (We didn't have tickets, but we got in under the wire....with permission. :) It was awesome. Thanks Diane!)
The quilt shop itself was worth the drive down. Such a great shop! I was impressed! If you ever get the chance, or are in a hundred mile radius from there, I'd recommend that you stop in for a visit. So many great fabrics in one spot. A bit overwhelming, but in the best way possible!
Brianne and I also had the chance to meet up with Anna and Megan. We had lunch together before the Tula event and coffee with them afterwards. It is wonderful to meet up with fellow bloggers and visit in real life. We had fun laughing, enjoyed getting to know each other better and had fun comparing notes. We may have shopped a little, as well!
All in all it was an incredible day. The timing was pretty wonderful, too. My kids are on spring break this week, so it was nice to have a recharge day beforehand. It has helped a lot.
Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I came home with TONS of scraps from Anna. (Thanks, Anna!) There was a very happy scrap party in my living room yesterday. Good times!

I had a conflict that day, but several of my friends were there for Tula's presentation....rave review, too! There is another quilt shop in La Crosse that is awesome, also....River Road Quilt Shop (https://www.facebook.com/RiverRoadQuiltShop) located on South Avenue in the Nelson Flag store. Road trips are great!! Hugs, Doreen

Hey, I just wanted to say hi as I am a new reader of your blog since last week. I have nearly finished a rainbow quilt and went on google images for inspiration for my next quilt and one of your photos led me here! I have spent the last few days reading from the beginning. I find your blog so inspiring and can't wait to have a go at some of the patches!

If you are ever in the UK, Cotton Patch is a great shop near Birmingham.

Wow lucky gal, what a fab thing to have, a bag of scraps, I think that is one of the nicest things to have... I know I love getting them myself.

Looks like fun! I was at our Modern Guild meeting the other day, and someone brought show and tell. It was something she was just starting from your book. So many people around the table said, "Oh! That's my favorite book! I love that book!" Thought you'd like to know!

Oh your scraps are joyful - I can see some fabrics that are in my scrap baskets!

I didn't know you lived in WISCONSIN!! Here's a hello and a great big thanks for your blog from a long-time lurker, seldom commenter in Green Bay.

I stopped at OJS on Friday on my way through LaCrosse while driving to the in-laws. It was 4:58 and they closed at 5:00, so I was out of luck! I stopped back on Sunday to grope the fabric and other pretties for about 30 minutes. The in-laws are over 2 hours away so I couldn't justify the drive back to LaCrosse for Saturday to see Tula. When I was in the shop on Sunday one of the other customers asked a lady in the shop how it went on Saturday - she said Tula was great and loved the shop. She stayed late on Saturday and came back on Sunday morning and is making plans to bring her mom up sometime. I'm sad I missed it!
