oatmeal quilt and retreat signup deadline

I started yet another quilt....the third start in one week's time. Sheesh! I'm using my neutral scraps and sewing them together using the slab technique, as shown in my book Sunday Morning Quilts. (yay!!!) I bet I run out of steam on this project before I run out of scraps! :)

On another note....
If you are interested in the Mother's Day Quilt Retreat, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, there are still spots available. The deadline for signing up is March 28, so in one week from today. It's only $250 for the entire weekend, including meals, lodging and the classes. I will be teaching my machine quilting sampler class, which covers free motion quilting, quilting with a walking foot and a quilt as you go technique. I hope you can join me there! You can read all the details here. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

Those "oatmeal" blocks don't have to be a whole quilt - they'd be great applique backgrounds - or a great base for a pillow! Either way, I think they're great!

The blocks look great and I am really enjoying your book. You did a great job on it. It has so many ideas I can hardly wait to dive into
them all! I even blogged about it today :0)

Oh my! the retreat is actually near me!! I had no idea you lived even in the same region of the country as me, let alone that close! (well, assuming you live somewhere close to the retreat! Unfortunately my little baby is too little to leave overnight, but this does sound like fun!! (the other hard part, I suppose, would be that I do all my sewing and quilting on a 1953 Pfaff in a cabinet... way too heavy to bring somewhere for a retreat. :(

It's fun to see the different values in these blocks. Since they are all different sizes I'm eager to see how they are used or pieced into a top.

I've been trying to spend less time reading craft books and blogs, and more time actually crafting... But this 'slab technique' looks and sounds interesting. Is it an improv method? Your book might have to move from my wishlist to my basket...

My niece wanted these oatmeal colors in her quilt for her wedding gift. I was kind of wishy-washy about it, but now I've seen yours, I'm excited! Thanks!
