geese in the forest

Here's my last finish of the year. It combined two of my wip's....geese in the forest and tokyo's triangles...which is handy. :)

The center panel is made up of the 12 blocks I managed to make for Anina's quilt along. The top and bottom borders were made from flying geese triangles that I made using this method. I kept adding borders until I came up with this layout. I l-o-v-e the results. It's not huge-it only measures about 50" x 64".

I backed it with green and added a pop of pink for the binding. I love those two fabrics together.
I did loopy quilting all over, which wasn't easy. This quilt is not assembled as neatly as I would have liked....it's actually quite wonky. Hopefully that's all unnoticable after it takes a trip through the washer and dryer. :)

Since it's the last day of the year, here's a little WIP rundown....

I started Jacquie's Joy in the New Year Challenge with 19.
I have finished 12 quilts since that time.
9 were WIP's, 3 were new projects.
(This quilt took two off my list, but I'm only counting it as one finish.)
My final count will be 9 for the challenge.
And I'm left with 9 WIP's.
There's always next year, right? ;)

How did you do on your WIP's?

It's lovely! At first it looked a bit like Xmas (don't ask, everything looks like Xmas these days) but then I REALLY saw it and it feels like a summer day and a bit of sorbet on the side. Love it!!

WIP? I had a great year getting out super old WIP this year and makeing some more New quilts. Hopefully 2010 will be just as fruitful.

Congratulations on another finish!!!

That's an excellent finish. Good for you for combining the two projects.

I managed to cross only 4 projects off my list. One is close, but no label and the binding isn't sewn down therefore, not truly finished.

Love your latest addition. Just could look at it all day. Your work has a soothing effect on me,just your kean eye for color and design.....makes everything ok. I have made 2 quilts since following your Blog. One is the ragged edge and it is just wonderful. Then I did the small ticker tape and I can't stop touching it. But best of all you have inspired me to collect all my WIPs and get them all in one place, neatly folded and all ready to finish. Thank you for that nudge I needed to get going on them. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Ten of 19 is more than half so that is wonderful for only two months of time! I finished eight of my ten admitted UFO projects, but I did not add in three new projects like you. Very good job, lady! Keep on chugging and you will be finished with the others soon.

Very cute! Well done! Happy quilting in the new year!

It looks great! I listed 6 UFO's in Jacquie's challenge and am trying hard to finish #3 today. My baby's a bit under the weather but if I can get to the hand stitching binding part, I'll be fine I'm sure. Just a little more quilting!

I LOVE this quilt!! AS far as my WIPs....I need to sit down and concentrate to figure out what was finished and what was begun. I really think I STARTED more than I finished!! I'm avoiding all numbers until the kids get back in school.

Beautiful! I love the flying geese along the top and bottom of the quilt. Way to go on knocking out those unfinished projects!

oh its beautiful! Way to go to get it done, too! I'm standing at 3 of my 7 WIPs done for the challenge, with 2 other start and finishes thrown in. While the challenge will be over, I'm still determined to get those last quilts done in the new year. Then my personal challenge for 2010 is to use my stash! Thank you so much for the tip of using Ikea sheets - they may end up being my "allowed" purchases!
Happy 2010 to you!

Someone mentioned how it makes them feel to look at your quilts. It is so calming to look at the pattern and organization of the colors and shapes. A very Happy New Year to you and yours.

Some of my WIP's have been finished, and some continue to be WIPs, just a bit further along than before.

Once again, You have made a beautiful quilt.

Lovely! I love that binding and backing combination together! Gorgeous!

I started with 10 WIP's and I've got 1 left. Just a little cross stitch that needs finishing... Only a wee bit of back stitching and the border to go. I'm aiming to have it done before I go back to work.

i'm often a lurker on your page, but I must take a moment....
people often say that I must have a clone with all that I accomplish. Well, lady...if I have **a** clone, you have TEN! I am always amazed when viewing the beautiful projects you whip out in AMAZING speed!

Another wonderful year gone.
Here's to 2010!!!!

I don't understand how some people can make that many quilts in a year...
You made 12 this year, and my husband's grandma typically makes approx. 90 per year...I just can't comprehend it...
Any help or ideas?

What a soothing-colored quilt and very cozy looking. Your choice of fabrics is perfect and the pattern is sweet. I adore this one. Just beautiful! Lots of WIPs here...a stack is just waiting to be hand-quilted (haven't mastered machine quilting yet). And lots of quilt tops waiting to be sandwiched.

What a gorgeous quilt!

I LOVE it and I am copying that design... I'm not even asking permission. :p Okay, I'm asking. I can see this on a little boy's bed in my family using bright primary colors! You okay with the copy?

As for completions...GOOD FOR YOU! I keep intending to complete, not start new ones until others are complete but heh... that never lasts. Maybe I need to actually list the UFOs and count em down this year...

Your quilt turned out so nice! That's a good suggestion, to take stock of WIPs here at the end/beginning of the year. Happy New Year!

I just love it! I have been wanting to make some flying geese for months (or maybe even years) now and this quilt is SOOOOO inspiring. I just love using white in a quilt. It makes all the other colors pop. Have a wonderful new year.

Well, once again you've done it. You've created another quilt I love. I think it is that fabulous color combo with the white, it is so fresh.

Happy New Year.

Not that my opinion matters, but my favorite part is the checkerboard border!!!!

So funny I'm leaving this comment - my son asked just last night how many quilts I've made this year. So we counted together - 12! Holy cow! And I have 4 more WIP to be quilted and bound.

One of them was the stacked coins baby quilt you did for ModaBakeShop. One of my faves! Happy New Year!
