this is my 600th post. i can hardly believe it. as a little thank you to you, my dear readers, i'm giving away a fat quarter of each of these prints. i'll pick a random name on monday evening, november 23. one entry per person please. since i like to leave a question for you to answer when i do a giveaway, i'd love it if you let me know what kind of christmas gifts you are making (or meaning to make) this year.

thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading, commenting and following along with me as i quilt. it means so much.

congratulations on 600! and thanks for having this nice giveaway~

the only thing I'm making for the holidays this year is a small wall hanging with a scrappy christmas tree and some borders (i'm thinking about 1 x 2" flying geese, am I nuts?) that I plan to give to my mother. She just got out of the hospital and has moved into my grandmother's family room (converted with a hospital bed and all) for the duration of her life. She has a long term illness and we don't know if we have weeks or months left, but it's better to have her at grandma's than at a nursing home. I won't be able to go home for Christmas this year, so i wanted her to have this small wallhanging next to her bed to let her know I'm thinking about her all the time. The goal is to have it done by the end of next week (we're going home for Thanksgiving and I'd like to leave it for her then), wish me luck.
Thank you for your upbeat spirit and constant motivation, inspiration and encouragement. even if that's not what you intended to do with your blog, that's what it does for me. when life gets tough i turn to (quilty)blogland to make me feel better. Thanks for being there for me.

Congratulations on your zillion posts! What pretty fabrics :)

For Christmas this year, I have made a few knitted scarves (for my best friend, her husband, and my mum), a cute stocking for my mum, and a quilt for my daughter's best friend. I had hoped to have more time but work is piling up so this might be it.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Happy 600th! I'm making quilted pillows, shopping totes, tissue cosies and napkins...If only there were more hours in my day for sewing. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow! Congrats on 600 posts.

I'm actually making Ashley's (from FilmintheFridge) scrapbuster napkins right now..except I bought fabric specifically for them, so I guess that's not exactly scrapbusting...

Thanks for the giveaway!

I am working on a quilted Christmas tablemat right now. It's about 21x21 and its for the wonderful teacher that I work with. I also have completed three quilts for gifts. I have two more to go! (They are small baby size quilts). I also want to make 3 stockings for people in the family who don't have stockings or have lost them. I think that I might have a problem...

This Christmas I decided to do all handmade gifts for my family and friends. I only made two quilts, one for each of our dads. Some of the other things I made were table toppers, coasters, bags, an armchair caddy, and a doll for my niece.
Congrats on your 600th post!!

Oooh! Fun colors!! :)

X-mas gifts...list is longer than time will allow but I will hopefully tackle making a molly monkey for my niece, maybe a few hats out of fleece, baby bibs for the many friends with new babies, and a photo album for my guy! I knew I should have started months ago!!! :)

Those fabrics are lovely! I have great ambitions but will have to see when things will actually be ready. Soon after christmas I have my baby boy's first birthday coming up so I wish I could do tons of things!

I know I will be tying knots on a rug I'm making for him but that is extremely time consuming so I can't see that being finished in time but there will be progress at least. What I really hope will be made soon is a smallish quilt for him, possibly tied with knots instead of quilted to get a first project done faster. Also I would really love to make him a book out of fabric and possibly with embroidered things on the pages.

As I said ambition, but sooner or later I WILL have made those things!

Oooh my favorite colors.

I am making cloth napkins and felt ornaments this year. If I find the right fabric, I might do some patchwork place mats, too. I wanted to make a felt advent calendar for my niece, but I'm a little late to start. Oops.

Well, I'd like to thank you for making such a wonderful blog. I don't quilt yet, but I'd like to sometime and your style suits me so well. I come here to dream about the kind of cool quilts I want to make someday.
I'm trying to make quite a few things this year to save money. So far I've knit 3 ice scraper mitts, and I'm working on knitting a sweater for each of my 3 boys. I'm also planning on sewing a pair of pajamas for each of them. If I have time I'm going to make a hat for the hubby. And today I'm working on year in review scrapbooks for the great-grandmothers. I always try to make more than I actually get done, but I hope to actually stay on track this year.

Congratulations on your 600th post. Wow! That's a lot of posts!
I am making my mother a quilt, my daughter will get a picnic quilt and several other members of our family will get bags. I am also making pillowcases for the little ones. I will use the pillowcases to hold their 'real' presents. Kind of like a gift bag or wrapping paper. I figure it's easier that way.

Finished: 1 quilt for my mother-in-law.

To do: 1 quilt for a neighbor girl (to bo completed somewhat by my little girl); 1 pillowcase for her brother; 1 wall stitching; and then 1+... who knows?

Love your blog! I just started quilting again after a very long hiatus. Yours is one of my favorite inspiration spots to visit before I hit the machine. I'm dying to make that circle quilt.

Not sure if I will make any Xmas gifts but I bought some Santorini charm packs to make a quilt for my sister in Texas, and I have some darling Diane Knott Santa panels from a few years ago that I am thinking of stitching onto velvet and making pillows out of.

Love the giveaway colors. I just can't stop buying green fabrics lately. Well, to be honest, always. But lately the limes are calling me. :)

I admire your focus and productivity and to your blog to find motivation for FINISHING what I start.
I've made Christmas cards for about 7 or 8 years, and I am starting to run out of ideas. I've done ribbon weaving, monoprinting, crochet, mini quilts, you name it! This year I discovered qui-l-l-ing, and hope to churn out about 30quilled snowflake cards.

Hi Amanda Jean!

Congrats on your 600th post! I just began reading quilting blogs this summer and love yours. You are so generous to share so freely with all your tutorials. It is how I learn. I love it!

For Christmas I am making lap quilts for my mom, sister, my neice's baby due in January and a new daughter in law to be. But the most special quilt I am making is for my brand new grandson! :) I have to finish piecing both my sister's and grandson's quilts, quilt my neice's baby's quilt, and bind my mom's and new DIL to be. I feel like I am in a pretty good place, because I do pretty simple patterns, but ooooo, it's so fun! :)

Congratulations on your 600th post - that is a huge achievement. And when I sew the top and bottom (which happens to have jingle bell fabric, by the way) I'm going to zig zag around the front using gold thread.

Gorgeous fabrics!

If I can get to it, I'll be making a bunch of scented trivets for co-workers this year. Other than that, probably not much. I'm way too far behind to start anything big at this point.

Jittina said...

I love those fabrics, great colours.
I'm from the Netherlands, and a lot of Dutch people don't celebrate Christmas with gifts. Instead we celebrate "Sinterklaas" on the 5th of December. If you translate that you get Santa (Sinter) Claus (Klaas). (So now you know how Santa Claus got his name!)
We buy most presents: Lego for the boys (you can't make that yourself ;) ), a trimmer for my husband and for me some sockyarn, so I can knit myself some pretty socks afterwards.

I followed the Cross Country Christmas Blog Hop and the my kid's and I are going to do Terry Atkinson's Molten Chocolate Mugs. I'm going mug shopping this week and the kid's will be putting together the packets for the chocolate cake and I'll make the fabric bags. These will go to school teachers, piano teacher, mailman, bus drivers and they'll also be great hostess gifts and a just because gift. I know these aren't quilts, but there's sewing involved (the bags are very cute).

Dear Amanda Jean, You are an inspiration!
My mom will get throw pillow covers to match her living room colour scheme.
My fried will get a grocery bag that niftily folds into a wallet-like form (photos of a bag like that in my Finnish-language blog post at http://tilkunviilaaja.blogspot.com/2009/11/siisti-ekokassi.html). Perhaps she will also get a makeup pouch of matching material (although she is unlikely to carry them together much).
