a sweet quilt

sweet quilt
This is a little quilt that I designed for the Moda Bakeshop.

It measures 45" x 54". I consider that a baby quilt, but it could also be used for a lap quilt.

I like the busy prints all crammed together. And the tumbler shapes make it look complex, but it really is easy peasy. Just the way I like it. :)

I caught a peek at this one over at the Bake shop and immediately thought, I can make this! You made it seem very easy. I'll send you a pic if I go ahead and make it. Maybe for one of the Baby quilts I need to make for this month.

It still amuses me to see the same fabrics pop up all over the world... I just recently bought some of those in a small shop in Norfolk, England. I loved the one with the birds in outline and have been wondering what to make (probably a quilt for the cat!)

Love the polka dot binding! I've been thinking of doing a coin quilt, do you think this pattern would work if every other 'row' was a solid?

i think that would be a fun look, too! i think you should give it a shot. maybe you could make the solid rows just a touch narrower than the pieced block rows? just a thought...

I love this quilt--I am a beginner, but this looks very managable. I have made several quilt tops, but I have not sandwiched them or quilted them yet (this seems a little scary to me). I like how you just outlined each patch--do you sew around one and cut the thread and then start on the next one? What would be the best way for me to start quilting my quilts? Thanks--I'm kinda learning by myself and reading peoples blogs.

Super darling quilt, Amandajean!!! Maybe you should have a sew-along with this cutie?? Just think of all the different fabrics that could be used. It'd make a great Christmas throw too.

Don't the reds in this quilt just make it "pop"?! Even though we might like to attempt something more complicated now and then, it's nice to know that a simple quilt can be so attractive.

I love your site and your quilts - such an inspiration to me as I am on a tight budget of $500 a year for fabric, thread and batting, scissors, mats, cutter and patterns. That is about $42 a month to spend. Learning about bleach muslin has really helped with the budget. Your tutorials are just great. Thanks Amandajean.

It is fabulous. Very colourful and you know I love colour!
What is the back like? I am always having a hard time picking out the backs for quilts.And so many people fail to show the backs which makes a quilt what it is.

Hi Amanda Jean,

Love this quilt and I tried to print the tutorial. It would only print 3 pages which included the photo of the quilt, and the photo where you cut the template from the charm pack cardboard,and nothing else. Do you know of a way to print the whole tutorial?
