That looks terrific!! And thanks for posting the instructions the other day... another one I'll have to try out! I like the idea of the smaller scale baby quilt.
I found your blog over the weekend and have been reading through your archives. I am SO impressed and inspired by your work. This quilt is so fun and whimsical. I love the colors that you chose. I can't wait to try making one.
This would be a good scrap quilt, I think one that I could actually finish...not like my star quilt along quilt that I am stalled on because of my triangle issues. :) This one looks more forgiving.
Wow! I guess I need to get my finished. Your looks so great sewn together. I was thinking of adding some sashing to my quilt, but now I see I will loose the secondary pattern, but that might be better than a sea of all cream. Your thoughts on this?
Wow, lady, you are amazing. You do quilts faster than I can log on my computer. I send your blog to almost all my friends because your work is simple but yet georgous!
i really really like the sea of cream, as you call it. i LOVE the secondary pattern that is created by the cream, and with the sashing you would lose that. but now i'm wondering what it would look like with sashing...hmmm.
What a lovely quilt... repeating simple shapes with complimentary colours always works for me! Have recently found your blog, love it, love it, love it!
I just love this quilt pattern! You are an amazing quilter - you do so many! I know you have already answered this question somewhere in your blog, but I can't find it, so am going to ask anyway: What fabric do you use for your standard white, and where do you get it?
Thanks for taking the time to blog all of your creations - I love you site! Very inspirational!
for my background fabric i use either bleached muslin or quilter's only cotton in the color parchment. (i used parchment for this quilt.) i buy both fabrics at joanns. by the bolt. with a coupon or on sale.
You are such a prolific quilter!!! You totally blow my mind and I have been so inspired by you! I made 2 quilt tops today. Mind you there were all squares, super easy peesy. Now for the harder part...the actual quilting! But when I finished piecing just now, I thought of you and had to come check to see what you have been up to lately. Of course quilting. Gosh, did I say how you blow my mind with all these quilts!
Can't wait to see this new one quilted...what a fun block design.
Happy 2009 to you! I am looking forward to tracking your progress this year.
Amandajean, I don't know if this question has been asked already but I am wondering how long it took you to make the top? it is very pretty but seems like it might be a little time consuming? Did you follow the tutorial by tracing and cutting out the whirlys or did you do it a different way?
My dh really likes it and wants me to make one for our bed... I'm a little worried.

Love it! So bright and cheerful!
kelly,
i used a few yards of background fabric-maybe 3-3.5 and then the other colored pieces would take about the same amount of fabric.
i hope that helps!

crafty lady,
heather is going to quilt it-she is going to stipple it.
