spectrum quilt

It's D O N E!!!!

I quilted each channel separately, changing the thread color to match each section of fabric. This worked out great. The back is so pretty, but it is impossible to capture it in a photo.

I used brown for the binding because 1. I had it in my stash and 2. I prefer a dark binding over light. (It was either brown or cream.)

I love that it is orderly and random, all rolled into one. (kinda like me.)

If you want to read more about the making of this quilt, you can see here, here, here, here and here. I have been working on this quilt for so long that it went through 2 name changes before I finished it. I'm glad to cross this one off my list.

Oh, and I do love it.

It's really beautiful! I have to admit that I thought you may have made the wrong decision when you took out the white because I loved it then, but hooray for you and your creative instinct- it's fabulous!

The changing of the thread color was just another brilliant idea from Amandajean. Do you ever get weary of being so creative? Just curious ...

Stunning. It is one of my favorites! I also like it without the white.

This is the quilt that got me started on your blog!! You had posted a pic on Flickr and I saw it somewhere on there (I think explore??) and went to your blog and have been hooked ever since. It is soooo beautiful. I hope to one day have enough fabric to be able to do something like this. As my mil says, "she who dies with the most fabric wins!!!"

I love everything about this post. First, I cannot believe you've knocked out yet another quilt. I want to borrow some of your drive and dedication. And the quilt itself is awesome. I love that you changed the thread color with each stripe - it looks really cool. But the best part was your comment on yourself - random and orderly. We are cut from the same cloth, my dear!

Di~ said...

Wow, AmandaJean, great job! Love it. Tell: what width limits you used- no narrower than? and no wider than? for the strips?
