50 cent lounge pants
It's very possible that I am the last craft blogger on earth to make the Amy Butler lounge pants out of a thrifted sheet. Even though I am late to the party, (not a surprise) I am so glad that I made it to the party at all. The pattern is in this book, which I checked out of my local library.
These lounge pants are dandy. And just like everyone else said, so comfortable. They are easy to make, even if you are intimidated by patterns. (That's me.) I bought the sheet for $1.00 and only used half of it. I used the decorative edge of the sheet for the cuff, so no hemming required. That's what I'm talking about. Instead of using a drawstring, as suggested in the pattern, I made a casing and used elastic. Now, my biggest dilemma is whether or not to use the rest of the sheet to make another pair of lounge pants or to use it for a quilt back. I'm pretty sure I know what my answer will be.

They're so pretty!
I just tried lounge pants too, but not Amy's... my library didn't have her book :(
They are darling! Aren't you the smart one using a thrifted sheet?!?
Adorable! Great sheet that you used. And not the last blogger, I still haven't made them. But I do have the book :)
i love how you used the sheet's edge to make your hem/cuff on the pants. late to the party is one of my favorite expressions; i use it often about myself!
Oooh! A quilt back (as I imagine that will be your use for the other half, knowing you) to match these adorable lounge pants - how perfect.
Those look like my old sheets? So pretty!
oh you aren't the last one! I got the book out of my library a while ago, even traced the pattern, but that's as far as I got. everytime I see them on someone's blog it makes me want to go and sew!
Um...I think I have those exact sheets.
!
What a great idea to use the edge for the cuff. And no, you're not the last to arrive at the party...I'm still on my way!!
Brilliant. Love 'em.
Just one more reason why you make my day. I wonder if I can get that book...
Yay! you did it. I'm using my left overs for bag linings!
Hurray for lounge pants!
I only recently bought the book cause it’s not in our Dutch libraries. I did not make anything yet, but I have been lurking at the lounge pants... All I need now is a wonderful sheet!
Definately not the last one to make them. I bought this book the minute it came out and loved those pants...but just haven't brought myself to make them yet. :) I love the idea of using a sheet - I bet they are so soft!
They look sooooo comfortable! You are not last to the party....
....and look at your perfect painted toenails:-)
I've made them but not from a thrifted sheet. I'm planning on picking one up this weekend, though!
So pretty, I love the cuffs! Your toenails look mighty nice too.
so pretty! I'm also pattern challenged when it comes to clothes. I have got to start finding all these great vintage sheets that everyone finds for so cheap!
Love these! What a great idea to use the sheet edge for the hem. I have one pair, and as soon as I finish my deadlined projects, I'm making a ton more!
They look so comfy. I still haven't made them even though I've had the book for two months. My excuse is that I have 3 kids aged 3 and under! :) Your lounge pants motivate me to go make a pair! Very pretty!
Nope--I still haven't made them yet and I even own the book. You've inspired me to get moving on my own pair. Hey, have you checked out the "Summer Sheet Swap" at Polka Dot Creations: http://www.polkadotcreations.com/blog/?page_id=487 Good way to use up the leftovers.
These are divine! I bet you don't stop at making just one pair... although I have the sneaking suspicion you will use the rest of this sheet for a quilt back ;o)
You are not the last! I made some for my girls out of a retired crib sheet yesterday, and I cut mine out of a thrifted sheet today! I am right along with you...yours look great btw!!!!
Very nice, Amandajean.
I have made the lounge pants from sheets, but not from the Amy Butler pattern per se.
They look great!! I also own the book but have not made them yet...would never have thought of making them out of a sheet! Cool idea! As Arizona said...once I finish my WIP's and find time (I have 2 little ones under 4)then I need a pair!Love the idea of using the cuff too! Can't wait to see what you finish next!
great pants!! too bad I can't find the book over here in the Netherlands
I've been thinking I need to make myself some PJs. Yours are so cute.
These are gorgeous pants, Amandajean! Great buy on the sheet and you put it to wonderful use.
love those! aren't they so darn cozy?!
You're not last - I am. I borrowed the book, I made a copy of the pattern - now I need to find some good sheets...
Cute, cute, cute!!!
fabulous. i love the decorative edge you used for the cuff. you are so darn clever!!!
i think you need to make another pair. so when those are in the wash you still have a pair to wear! :)
Very cute - I should try that sometime!
So cute and great idea to use the decorative trim. There is a swap of bed sheets that are to be used for a skirt ~ just an idea for the rest of your sheet:) This swap is at www.polkadotcreations.com/blog
I was just looking at the thrift store for sheets to do this today. So you're not last. You're second-to-last. :)
You're not the last one....I bought the book months ago, just for that pattern...I have the sheets, just need to do it. Yours are great. Love the cuffs.
No you are not the last, I actually own the book and have not even cracked the seal on the little pattern pocket ! I even have the sheets !
I keep thinking how great they are whenever someone posts them - I need to move it up the "to do" list. I love how you used the sheet edging as the hem - great idea.
they're lovely, it's so hard to find pretty thrifted sheets here in the UK I may never make them, the book glares at me whenever I walk past the shelf.........
You're not the last. I've been eyeing those but haven't made them. You could make another pair and send them over here. Nudge nudge, wink wink...
Very cute! I wish I could find nice sheets out thrifting. I never seem to have any luck. They look super comfy!
Cute as can be! I'll be looking for a sheet now! I've been making grocery totebags from pillowcases this week, so I'm already deep in the linens at the thrift stores.
Wow I love them. I haven't made any yet either. I'll have to get the book from my daughter Christina(hikebikekayak) and make me some. Love the cuff idea.
i used an old pair of pants for a pattern and they turned out great! Love yours...very sweet!
Those are sooo cute...from a sheet that's so great! I have had that book for a while and I have yet to make them, so no you are not the last...I am lol!!
Nope, I am still holding out. Haven't made my pair yet. Better get my sheet, huh? they look comfy!!!
These are so pretty!
I still haven't made a pair of those yet either :) Although they are on my list of things to make soon...
I haven't made the lounge pants yet. Your's turned out GREAT. I have to make me a pair now. Thanks for sharing.
Ahh! It never occured to me to check if the library had the amy butler book and now I've checked and they do!! Ahhh...the brains the brains...THANKS FOR THE TIP!!
You are definitely not the last. I just heard about them yesterday. I've been wanting the book anyway and am definitely getting it now. Yours are so pretty. I'm all about not having to hem, too. lol
