Welcome to week 7 of the quilt-a-long!
This block goes together pretty quickly.
For this one, I pressed my triangle seams open to reduce bulk.
Cut 8 squares 3.5" from the background fabric
Cut 4 squares 3.5" from the colored fabric
Cut 2 squares 3 7/8" from the background fabric
Cut 2 squares 3 7/8" from the colored fabric
(these 4 will be used for making the triangles)
Use the same method for making the triangles here that we used in the previous weeks.
layout as shown
and you have your completed block.
Any questions will be answered in the comments.
For those of you who are interested, I am already thinking about the next quilt a long. I am planning on making another sampler type quilt in all different star blocks. I'm gonna have to get over my triangle phobia once and for all. :)
thanks for quilting-a-long with me!
okay, you really inspire me. the whole quilting thing really intidimates me. I have only been sewing for nine months, and I have a very basic sewing machine. maybe after more sewing pratice, and an updated machine i will be more daring. Although, i could sew something a little more complex and just do the ties, right?
YEAH! This is so fun! I joined in late, but I am all caught up now. You can add me to the list. Mamaperreca.
I would definitely be down with the star quilt. I was wanting to make one for my brother. I think he would like the star patterns. I haven't tried stars before.
Woo hoo - the star one sounds like fun too! I've got to get caught up on this one though - I think I'm behind by two now! Ugh! May be a project for tomorrow. Em
Thanks.........I'm heading to the cutting table right now!! Think the star quilt will be fun to do also.
Looks so great!
I can't get over how many people are creating with you. How terrific :)
I love stars....
Cute! I'll make it first thing tomorrow morning.
Happy New Year Amanda and thanks for the new block.
yeah - only one triangle for this one!!! And only one colored fabric....again, yeah!! Oh, stars...I don't know - I'm not so fond of these triangles yet. I might have to wait and see.....
Ok, I did not participate in this block along, but I would totally do the star one, I adore any quilts that have stars!
I HAD a phobia about triangles.. but how easy are they if you starch the crap out of them before you cut them to sew??? easy peasy!
I'd be up for another quilt along, I am also doing Bonnies Quiltville mystery quilt, and so far there is over 2500 bits in that sucker!
Thanks for week 7!
I would love another quilt along.
Now that the holidays are over I can now start this quilt along>>
you never cease to amaze me my dear. this may be one of my faves!
Count me in when you begin the STARS quilt-a-long! I'd love to learn how to make them. So far, I've only done the friendship star. Now that the holidays are over, plus the clean-up...I'm getting back to quilting. Need to finish up the last 3...
you make it sound so easy! and quick.
But I love stars, so I might join the next one!!
I have been participating as well. I will be happy to continue with another sampler. Come join me in my Row by Row Mystery.
This has been fun so far. All caught up - will work on this block tonight. I'd be in for a star block quilt-a-long!
That's a great block!! Looks quick!
HI! I just found your blog and I would love to join you!! I think I can catch up...
Your blocks are beautiful but don't look tooooo difficult for a semi-beginner level person like me! :)
Karen T. at www.karensgathering.blogspot.com
thanks for the work !!! Your blocks
are beautiful . I love stars .Hugs from Chile , Vero
This one was nice and easy, thanks for easing us back in gently!! I am seriously considering the star block quilt along, thanks for holding our hands through all these triangles!
Thanks very much. I have been lurking (and sewing) in the background. I finished round #5 today - I'm also making mine in 30's fabrics, but I'm making two of each block - just because I wasn't sure how I wanted to finish this up or have a second quilt or what.
Thanks for posting this.
Marne, aka another Nana
I would love to do another Quilt A Long. This is great.. If you are taking suggestions, I would love to do a Martha Washington star. Hugs, JoyB
I messed this block up, but I like the result. Instead of the colored squares lining up on the diagonal, I have a squat hexagon.
