Welcome to week 2 of the quilt-a-long. I can not believe the response that I got from all of you-thank you so much! It's still not too late to join in if you would like. I am putting a link to the instructions from each week in the sidebar under the tutorials section so they will be easy to reference. I am using a 1/4" seam allowance throughout.
For block 2:
cut 10 squares 2.5" from the background fabric
cut 2 squares 4.5" from the background fabric
cut 6 squares 2.5" from fabric 1
cut 6 rectangles 2.5" x 4.5" from fabric 2
layout and sew together as shown
Each block should measure (approximately) 12.5" square when to this point.
If you have any questions, I will try to answer them in the comments once again.
I hope you all are having fun with this!
I've added a flickr group here for the quilt-a-long.
I love this idea, sign me up!
AAAGGGGHHHHH, this one's sooo cool!
this is awesome! I'll have pictures up of last week's soon. I hope some of my linky pals signed up, too.
And thanks for making them all "idiot" (aka - shelli) proof! ;)
It great! Of course, I haven't even gotten to last week's but I'm sure I'll be able to whip them both up in one day. Stay tuned.
gosh, I really wish I had the time to do this...but the good thing is, it will always be available on your blog for me to follow and do when I have the time and the fabric! Yahoo!
What a great idea Amandajean! Thanks :)
PS - on the whole 1/4 inch thing.... egads - I've always assumed that if "I can't see the fabric as I sew" it's 1/4 inch - have I been wrong all along? (I just went to quiltville, and now I may have to get out a tape measure!)
Oooh, this is an awesome block! I am excited to see how many people have joined in!!
And yay for the Flickr group, as well!!
Great quilt-a-long and I made both week 1 and 2 blocks today... thanks for getting me started on another quilt!
This is a beautiful block. I am so excited to do this. My first cyber quilt-a-long:) Thank you much for doing this!
I found you through another blog some time back and I would love to do this with you. I have just started quilting and what great practice this will be. Thanks for the great tutorials!
Thanks for the new block Amandajean. I will add a picture of last weeks block to the Flickr group today.
I really like this block! I'm very excited for block #2 and can't wait to see how this will turn out. Thanks again for walking me through this!! I'm having so much fun!
I'd better get moving and get caught up, LOL. I have a project that is taking priority right now. Maybe Saturday...
OK - I started a flickr group for the quilt along!
come on over.
AmandaJean! I love this quilt-along! I have finished both of the first quilts... I am having so much fun with this! I will be posting the 2nd week soon so you can see it. Do any of these blocks have names? Thanks for doing this - it's my first time doing any sew-along thing! Em
What a cool, cool block! Novice that I am, I thought that we'd be doing the same block as the first, but in different patterned fabrics. Now, I'm super-excited to see what sorts of quilt blocks you'll have us doing down the road.
Hi, I was eagerly waiting for the second block and made it stight away. I can´t till next week...
I really like this one...wish I had time to make along with you!
So, be honest, are you going to be stitching under the Thanksgiving table? Hee hee, I might be knitting a sock when no one is looking!
Thanks again Amandajean! I bought wonderful background fabric and will make both the blocks tomorrow! (Yes, tomorrow!!)
I've posted my first two blocks on my blog and would love to be linked on your sidebar. Thanks for posting these tutorials! :)
I might do it. How many blocks are you planning on?
I'd like to join though I know I will not be able to finish a block per week. But what the hey, right?
How much fabric would I need? My choice of "sets of scraps" would depend on that.
my blog is http://quilt-o-mania.blogspot.com
I finished my blocks this morning and on my blog are some embroidered blocks I found that will go "perfectly" with my 30's and my quilt along blocks. I'll join the flickr group this weekend
Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you for the patterns....
What a wonderful project this quilt-along!!
I may just have to teach myself to quilt...
This quilt-along is too darn awesome. I love square #2!
We have just had a quilting day and a couple of my friends are doing your quilt-a-long they have done a fantastic job so I think I may also have to do it....
I got a little nervous when I saw this week's square, but it turned out nicely. I posted a picture on my blog (I need to figure out how to add it to your flicker group).
Thanks again for doing this!!!
Read about your quilt-along on Anina's blog, Twiddletails. I'm up to my earlobes in Block of the Month quilts that I am barely keeping up with.
When will you start your next quilt-along? It sounds like fun, and Anina's blocks are lovely! I'm sure your Flickr group is full of very pretty fabric choices as well!
Thank you Amandajean for the quilt blocks for the quilt. I am going to join your group too. I hope you keep adding your quilt blocks to keep us busy. I love them so far.
