I have another quilt finish today! This pattern is A Quilter's Palette, by the lovely Rita of Red Pepper Quilts. This was a fun quilt to make! I loved digging in the scrap bins and building the blocks one at a time. My friend Brianne and I swapped scraps for some of the blocks, which was very helpful!
I don't often use blue or purple in my quilts, but somehow I still have scraps of those colors. I like what they add to this quilt! It feels good to branch out once in awhile.
I did a simple stipple all over in Auriful 2600, which has to be the most perfect thread color ever. I love it because it blends in with everything and it works so well in my Juki.
These blocks are great for fussy cuts. The butterfly block is one of my favorite parts of the whole quilt.
For the backing I used a fabric I had set aside for making a washi dress. I couldn't see myself wearing this color, and I had JUST enough (within inches) to back the quilt. I figured it was meant to be! The binding is the same fabric that I used on my last quilt finish. (The print is Citrus by Another Point of View for Windham fabrics.)
The quilt measures about 48" x 62". This is scrap project #184! This finish brings my WIP list down to 9! I'm quite excited about that!
Speaking of washi dresses....I spent last Saturday sewing up my third dress using that pattern. The fabric is chambray dots in indigo by Robert Kaufman. It makes a lovely garment! I'm fairly certain that this one will get a lot of wear.
How about a giveaway today? If you leave a comment in this post or if you link up today (or both!), your name will be thrown into a virtual hat. I will pick 5 winners that will receive 5 of my PDF patterns of your choice. I'll pick winners on Monday! I know I say it all the time, but I really mean it. Thank you for joining me for finish it up Friday!

OMGoodness! I love that quilt! How fun that you got to swap scraps with your friend. This would be a perfect pattern for a round robin with friends, I think. Question: how much sleep do you manage to get a day? Or you are a super fast quilter!!!
I Love this Quilter's Palette pattern...so beautiful in rainbow colors! and those cute little bees in the same section as the butterfly...love it all!
Love the Washi dress. The second time I made the dress, I also used the simpler neckline which made for a simpler project. The dotted fabric is adorable.
I love the quilt!! I'll be adding that to my list of quilts I want to make.
As always, your finishes are great. I love to read your blog and I hope you continue it for another 5 years (and another after that!).
Lindastew52@gmail.com
That Washi dress looks perfect. I'm so intimidated by garment sewing, but I feel like maybe I should just put my big girl pants on and jump in!
One of these days I will join in on Finish It Up Friday! I don't have too many WIPs but enough that I could use the motivation. *sigh* When my kids are older I will have plenty of sewing time.
I have bins of scraps and the quilt you have featured here would help make a slight dent in them - I just need to get it done! Meanwhile, I am working on my sweet tooth project (and collecting more scraps)......
Beautiful quilt! and....I'm inspired to make a DRESS!
WIP down to 9! That's amazing! Seriously. Because you used to have the most WIP that I've ever heard of anyone having!😊 I'd love to win ;)
I love how this quilt is so clean and fresh looking! And it's using scraps ... LOVE IT!!!
I love your scraps! A wonderful, colourful finish. Thanks for hosting Finish it up Friday each week.
I have a dress (or 2)that I NEED to SEW. My current WIP is sunglasses/eyeglasses cases... 😊
I am definitely going to steal this quilt idea for my next charity quilt!
You turn your scraps into so many beautiful things. I love your blog.
I love your blog! I always look forward to your Friday finishes! Have a great weekend!
I love your blog! I always look forward to your Friday finishes! Have a great weekend!
I love your quilt style, the brighter and scrappier the better. The dress is great. I quit garment sewing and moved on to quilting but have been thinking I need to revisit clothes sewing. Keep on blogging. Darlene
Such a lovely finish! I love the I spy feel of all those blocks, such fun fabrics!
I'm not usually into the super-scrappy look, but you've pulled it together brilliantly!
Congratulations on 5 years of Finish it up Friday! Your quilt is beautiful and the dress looks so pretty. I'm still a novice at making clothes, but I'd love to make more.
Lovely quilt, such pretty colours. I couldn't have imagined the backing as a dress, but I adore the blue dress, great to dress up or down.
Yea for finishing projects! Meggan loved the Washi dress and made herself a washi dress this summer as her 4-H clothing project.
You are an amazing quilter! Thanks for all the inspiration...though I may never finish all that I start
nice quilt - love the colors
Love the dream and really love the quilt!
I love your quilt! And I love that it uses scraps by color way. I will have to do something like this soon to use up some of the scraps I have.
The quilt is fabulous. I definitely want to make it, and I have the scraps to do so!
The quilt is so wonderful with such variety in fabrics. The butterfly caught my eye first.
Love seeing what you finish each week it gives me that dose of motivation I need to keep going!
I love that quilt.
So enjoy your blog. Thanks!
Happy anniversary, and I love your quilt!
Congrats on five years worth of Finish it Up Fridays! :)
Happy five years! Thanks for being my WIP idol!
Happy 5th Birthday! It's kind of you to thank bloggers like myself for making use of Finish It Up Friday when really it is you who are providing a great service and resource to the quilt blogging community. Thank you! And congratulations on another great quilt finished too.
Love the quilt and the washi dress. I was given the pattern for my birthday and I'm dying to make my first one!
And congratulations on going for 5 years! :) xx
Love your latest scrappy quilt finish! It's beautiful! Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your AWESOME patterns!
This is lovely! Hooray for a single digit WIP list. Hoping to start (and finish) a baby quilt this weekend myself.
What a great quilt...and thank you for all your wonderful ideas!

What a beautiful quilt you have completed!! I love your fabric scraps!!
Susie
congratulations on sticking to a link up for five years. I have loved it as it has also motivated me to finish - something I am traditionally terrible at!. The quilt you have done has inspired me. I am going to pull out my scraps today and sort it into colours. It will be a lot darker but at least it will be another quilt for the orphanage I support. I have always been meaning to make a washi dress but never have. They look so comfy. Thanks for the opportunity to win . karen.schulz@paradise.net.nz
I count on being inspired as I read your blog, and the lovely link-ups on Friday. Since you are also a knitter, I find the sock posts extra fun! On my way to knitting my first pair of socks!
What a lovely quilt! And I just love those washi dresses!! I would like to try my hands at sewing one, but then I'd be afraid of ruining my fabric (I haven't done many clothes before).
Happy 5th-aversaary! I don't have a finish today, as I am all packed up for quilt retreat tomorrow! I hope to have several small projects to show next week. Thanks for the chance to win.

Happy 5th Blogversary! I was inspired to start my blog after reading yours. I linked up with Friday Finish for the first time on June 7, 2013. I don't always have a finish on Friday but I am always pushing myself to sew toward a link up on Friday.
Thanks for the linky parties!
Janice@ singreadsew
Thank you!
i like the washi dress. i'd like to see all of it instead of the little snippet. Awesome one getting down to 9 wips. i just took 7 quilts to get quilted today.
5 year anniversary - congratulations. I love your Finish it Up Friday blog (your other posts too of course) and I'm sure, like many, it is the highlight of my weekend. I get to sit down, with a coffee, and read what everyone has been doing. Sometimes I have a finish to share too.
Your blog is so inspirational, and I appreciate the time and effort you make for the quilting community. Thanks so much!!!
Jenny from New Zealand.
Congratulations! And thank you for the link up! I love your quilt...it would be a great little scrappy quilt design for the color challenge!
Congratulations on 5 years! I've been here since the beginning. I look forward to Friday's and all the wonderful quilty inspirations. Thank you for the blog and the giveaway, as I love your design style and your patterns.

Happy anniversary! The link up party on Fridays is one of my favorite places for amazing quilting/sewing eye candy 🍭 online. Thanks for sharing your inspirations with the world!
Wow! Five years, such an achievement and SO many finishes. Congratulations and thanks for inspiring us all to finish all those projects we start.
I first met you over your chopped rhubarb quilt and we have been fast friends ever since! You are inspiring, challenging and fun. I bought a whole bunch of your good neighbors fabric. Any chance you will put forward ideas using your own fabric?
What a great way to use up some stuff scraps. Congrats on five years!
I love following your blog. It keeps me inspired and motivated to get at my projects. Thanks for chance at patterns!!
I can't decide which I like better....the quilt or the washi dress. The dress fabric really makes it powerful. The quilt looks like lots of FUN.
I love reading your blog! It gives me incentive to keeping on working and make my WIP's become finishes!
I love this quilt. And if you remember me from the MSQG Spring Workshop in Siren you know I have boxes of those color scraps.

I always look forward to seeing what you finish each week. How do you find time to get so much done?? I particularly love this week's quilt- I think I can actually pull this one off! It's now on my list!!
Thank you so much for the Friday linkup, it's so much fun and I love seeing everyone's work, including yours!
I love how the citrus yellow, orange, and green give the quilt a huge punch of colour. A perfect quilt to take on a summer picnic.
I love the intricate simplicity of this quilt. I would have trouble finding so many scraps of different fabrics.
I would totally wear that dress, so cute! Thank you for always inspiring me to finish my projects!
Such a colourful quilt. Congrats on reducing your WIP list. I need to get moving on my Washi dress.
I finished a couple projects but didn't get a chance to take photos....oops! Even though I didn't have anything to link to, I still come by to visit! I love, love, love that Quilter's palette quilt. I want to make one now!
I am starting new blouses for the season and will hopefully finish them quickly
I love the blocks of color in that quilt. I made " spools" using strips of color in teeny bands and just love it. I guess it falls into the scrappy category which I favor! I am working on ANOTHER scrap quilt right now. I don't understand why I can make so many scrappiest and have SO much scrap fabric.....
THis is such a lovely quilt! I saw Denise Russell's comment suggesting using this pattern for a round robin among friends. What fun that would be! I intend to bring it up with my quilting buddies. Thanks! cotten.gloria@gmail.cm
Thanks for the chance to win...love your blog and look forward to the inspiration every Friday. I can't wait to see how many charity quilts you make..that is inspiring as well. I'll be making some myself.

I really like the washi dress - looks stylish and practical
I shared my Millennium quilts today as they also use 25 patch blocks in a color palette style. They are quite different than the ones you shared, yet the basic structure is the same.
Beautiful quilt and dress!
Beautiful quilt and dress!
I love your ideas, designs, and creations!
I have loved checking in on Fridays for the last 4 years! Yikes! You have been so helpful to many of us beginners. I don't think I would have stuck with quilting if I had not found your blog. Thank you so much.
I love your newest quilt. I have learned so much from you these last 3 years I think it is. I am so much more confident about putting my scraps together and trying to use them up more than I had in the past. I love your Friday linky party. It is something I savor during the week. Thanks for inspiring us. K- likw2x6-apq@yahoo.com
You should embrace purple and blue more often! Cute quilt!
Five years is quite the milestone, congrats and thank you for keeping it going it's always been a favorite linky. The quilt is beautiful and I absolutely love the backing and binding choice.
Only 9 WIPs - great work!! I like to keep my WIPs down as I feel stifled and unable to complete ANYTHING if I have too many. I love the quilt - do you think you will ever run out of scraps??? Melanie
Congratulations, i love your blog and thanks so much..
Here's my hat and thanks for the opportunity to win.
Congratulations on only 9 WIP. Loving the washi dress.

I enjoy reading your blog - it has a lot of great ideas and inspiration. Especially love the scrappy ideas, as I have been accumulating a lot of scraps and never know what to do with them.
This has to be one of my favorite scrap quilts; even though each block is a different color, your color choices soothe me! I could spend some quality nap time with your quilt! Thanks for sharing and inspiring 😊
You are always so inspiring and I love reading your blog! Congratulations on maintaining these posts for so long! Thanks for the generous giveaway!

I was going to say that 5 years is a long time, but I'm convinced that there is such a thing as blog time, which seems to move at a faster rate than normal time. Congrats on your 5 year anniversary for Finish it up Friday. Congrats on a beautiful finish and on just having 9 WIPs. Definitely cause for celebration.
Springtime in autumn.... beautiful!
I love your use off all colors in this scrappy quilt....such a happy quilt! I see. You are hooked on the washi dress, too. Have you used the hack for the 3/4 sleeves yet? I have not and wondered how it works out.
Ohioholman@aol.com
What a soothing toned quilt! Such sweet use of all the colors, and a surprise on the orange backing! Nice job!

I really like your scrappy quilt. I am adding it to my list. I always enjoy your Finish it up Fridays and congratulations on five years!
I just love the design of this quilt. What a great way to showcase scraps. I struggle to find lower volume fabrics in my stash, so that's something I'm working on. Thanks for always sharing. It is so motivating!
I truly adore this quilt, its so fresh and cheery, as much the fabric mix as the fresh clean design itself.
Its a 'happy' quilt somehow if that makes sense lol it simply makes me want to smile!
And the dotty fabric is perfect for the washi dress cum top!
I do like that design very much :)
The quilt is beautiful - great finish!!! The only thing I finished this week was a trip to the beach, could have stayed a while longer :)
Love your quilt! And the dress looks like it should be just right for so many things! I really enjoy reading your blog. Keeps me working on my UFOs.
Crazy, yes. Five years goes by fast but looking back at five years of posts must feel like such an accomplishment. Congratulations! I love you new little black dress, I can see it getting a lot of use.
Thank you for your inspiration and keeping your blog so full of inspiration and fun!

I love reading your blog and the Finish-Up Fridays are so inspiring. I try to get some sewing done every day but need to get more WIP's finished. They seem to pile up too quickly. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love your (and others') Finish It Up Friday posts. Keep them coming!
Thanks for your never-ending inspiration to sew scrappy!
Love the a quilter's palette. I have so many 2.5 squares which I think would be perfect. Getting them into color groups would not be quick.
Thank you.
Love this quilt and the way it uses up scraps.
Love this quilt!!!! I ordered the pattern and think I will make it for my 2nd quilt ever! :) Fun!!! Thanks for the giveaway! Karen
Congrats on 5 years! One of these days i will post my WIPS. I always want to jump in but just enjoy viewing instead.
Love all of your scrap projects and your quilts. Thanks for the giveaway.
I knew I was saving sorted color scraps for a reason. How much fun is the Quilters Palette quilt. Linda
I love your scrappy quilt! It's just so happy looking. cknapp3626(at)sbcglobal (dot)com
Love this quilt and Finish Up Friday. I hope someday to have enough different scraps to make something like it.
👏 You did it! Your WIPs are now in the single digits. I am so impressed. This quilt is such a fun collection of favorite scraps.
Wow, it looks like you rarely repeated the fabrics with the blocks! Congrats on 5 years for the BEST linky party!
Always love your projects, constantly inspiring me. I sometimes ponder on a scrap for a minute longer and think WWAJ do.....keep or toss? Lol
This quilt is a great scrap quilt project. It gives me some inspiration for all of the 2.5" charms I have been collecting.

I am always so impressed with how much you get accomplished! And I love the happy colors you use.
Love, love your patterns! This is such a special giveaway, thanks for the chance.
I love the simplicity of a 25 patch and the clear bright colors against the gray. And I love your patterns, too! I get so many great ideas from your blog--thank you!
Beautiful colors and pattern :-). Nice way to use up the scraps.
I'm off to sort my scraps! :-D
Love this quilt cuz it's organized and scrappy! It would be good for a Leader ender project!!!! You are my favorite blogger!
I do like this. Very good selection of fabrics and tone. My only finish this week was to actually practice my FMQ skills. I started a class last week and decided I'd better sit down at the machine and just DO IT. I strip pieced some fabric (actually 2 pieces) and did a different design on each panel. I'll turn it into a pillow. I just hate letting any sewing time not produce a functional item.
Welldone😄
Love the quilt
I love the colors. I wish I had a bigger stash to pick from. I've only been quilting for 2 years and I suppose I'll just HAVE to bite the bullet and buy some more fabric...poor me!
Thanks for showing us your finishes! LOVE!
Beautiful quilts and lovely dress. Thanks for your generous giveaway.
I think you buried the lead! I love that dress! I have never really been drawn to Washi dresses, maybe because they're often done in girlie fabrics. I love yours, and would wear it out! Great job!
YES!!! The perfect pattern to whittle down my 2 1/2" squares. I love it. Thank you for "A Quilter's Palette"
Love both your dress and the quilt, Amanda. I'm very interested in the pattern, so thanks for that link.
Thanks for the chance!

I think this quilt would be a perfect way to use some scraps. Thanks for sharing!
I love seeing your quilts and being inspired to do something with my own fabric stash.
Thanks for sharing all you do with fabric. The dress looks like it would be easy to wear with a shrug on cooler days. I love all your little pieces and use of scraps.
I love the quilt! I'd love to have so many scraps to work with. I better get making, eh? That washi dress is a great pattern and looks great in that fabric.
Lovely blog! I just arrived here by chance following some pincushions made of scraps from blog to blog.... going to browse through your older posts and try to learn something new!
Your quilt is gorgeous! And I love your dress! Little lovely polka dots. And your stippling is getting more and more beautiful with every quilt!
Your quilt is beautiful. Love the colours! Would love to make a washi dress one day :)
Happy link anniversary. I don't blog but I follow quite a few regularly. Yours is at the top of my list : )
The quilt is cool, love the colors.
Love your quilts! They are so fun and cheerful and inspires me to use my scraps!
Love this finish, and the dress!
I love finish it up Friday! Congratulations on five years. It has brought me much joy. I only lurk right now, as I read it while breastfeeding my baby, but I really love seeing what you are able to do each week. Beautiful quilt! And i love the fabric you chose for the dress.
Thank you for being such an inspiration! I have only 3 WIP's now. I made myself not start any new projects when I counted and found there were 14 WIPs on my shelf! Now I think I need to sort through the scrap bin to make a palette quilt. I think with only 3 WIPs I can be allowed to start a new one since all I have to do that is new is prepare course materials for a Quilting Course I will be teaching! I feel like I earned the right! Hee Hee. Love your Finish it Up Friday's. The giveaways are great, too!

What a wonderful Colorful quilt! I really Need to work on my wip
Congratulations on 5 years! It's obvious from each week's postings - you inspire so many people!
I love all those bright colors. Makes me smile. And the washi dress looks fab in that fabric. I would make myself one but I am not great at clothes sewing and the ones on Etsy are very pricey. Wow, oly 9 UFO's left. I need to set that goal for myself. Have a great weekend.
Happy 5th anniversary ! Good job on the lastest quilt . I just finished piecing a Hunter's stars quilt top using Deb Tucker's template , fun project to sew.
The colors in your quilt make me smile. I'm inspired to go make a few blocks of my own today!
I wish I could get up the courage to make a dress or a cute top. The quilt is lovely, too. I like the butterfly.
Bon anniversaire ! You quilt is marvellous !
Thanks a lot for sharing !
