I like orange

I'm so happy to be done with this quilt top...finally! It was started in April of 2015 at a Denyse Schmidt workshop, and I don't think I had touched it since....except to steal scraps from the bag for other projects. (ha!) I was pleased to discover that I still like the quilt after all this time. The top measures 60" x 75". Rather than rush through and finish, I think I'm going to let this one marinate for awhile. I need to decide on a backing and who knows, I may even send this one out to get quilted. I do love the 3 little blocks mixed in with the rest. You know me, I've gotta put a scrappy twist on the quilt somehow! :)

So cute. I laughed out loud about stealing scraps from yourself!

Nice! I don't see those three little blocks as 'scrappy' but as genius in the design execution. Can't wait to see how you have it quilted and what you use for the backing.

This one is cool. I'd have thought that I wouldn't like an orange / orange quilt, but nope, I find I love it! A lot! Those three little blocks make the quilt. How fun!

Oh, what appetizing color! Such blanket is the best means from autumn depression!!! Super!!!

It's gorgeously juicy and happy. If it were mine, I'd be irresistibly drawn to a black and white spot backing and binding. But that's just me!

orange you glad you got this one pieced?

Nothing wrong with a little marination. :)

I love this quilt, and I'm really not fond of orange! The 3 smaller stars are prefect to break up the larger stars and keep your eye moving around the quilt. Another winner.

This certainly is orange. :) A fave color of mine. Awesome job. I'm sure the right quilting will make this quilt shine brighter.

I always say Orange is my middle name so it was so delightful to open your blog page and see this oh so fabulous orange quilt. And yes, the little blocks really make it sparkle.

This improv workshop is where I first met you, Amanda Jean! All of my orange blocks are still sitting in my WIP pile (ironically, you and I showed up at the workshop with fabrics in the same orange color palette). This WIP has been stashed away for months because I was having trouble with placement of the blocks, but you have now re-inspired me. Thank you! You have such a keen eye for design and placement. I can't wait to see it when you're finished!

I don't like orange. . . or at least I didn't think I did, until I saw your quilt. It's terrific!

Sabrina said...

Wow! Orange ist far from being my favourite colour, but... wow! This quilt top looks a-maz-ing! <3
Especially now, with all the greying colours in front of my window, it looks so warm and lovely.
The scrappy blocks are a great idea, too!

Best,
Sabrina

If I had this quilt I might have to drag it with me everywhere, because it just makes me happy to look at it! What a lovely antidepressant as well as a warm snuggle. The three small blocks just make the design, along with the wonky blades of the pinwheels and the two cheery colors.

I would love this AS the backing on a quilt! Is that weird? I think it'd be fantastic.
