a big week

Welcome to finish it up Friday!

It's been a big week over here. Boy, am I glad it's Friday!
My middle child turned 13 on Wednesday, so no more little boy.... (sniff, sniff.) My husband thought it would be a grand idea to buy him a brand new drum set to celebrate this milestone. Things got serious pretty quickly! And loud. HA! Actually, he's a great drummer and it's exciting to be investing in his future in this way....even if I do have to wear hearing protection while I am sitting in my living room. :)

Along with that, I finished writing my book this week. (!!!!!!) I'm beyond thrilled and quite exhausted. Words can't even begin to describe....
Completely unrelated...this is a new quilt I started working on this week. I am loving it so far! And...I'm so looking forward to sewing for fun! Hurray!

Now, it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thank you for joining me for finish it up Friday! Have a great weekend. xo

The drums were a great idea for a gift. A courageous, crazy and wonderful idea for a newly-minted teenaged boy. I love those red prints! Happy Friday!

I came into a great stash of Christmas fabric and have been looking for a pattern - I'm thinking a strip quilt might be the ticket.

Congrats on the finished book!! And good call on the hearing protection :) My husband used to play drums and I'm not-so-secretly hoping that our kids choose a less-deafening instrument.

I cannot wait for your new book! Your first book, your blog, and your Craftsy class have all been inspirational and so very helpful to me, as I began to quilt after many many years away from my sewing machine! Thanks for sharing your knowledge - writing is hard work!

Red and white is such a lovely color combo. Happy B-day to your son. When our son was that age he started playing the electric guitar and I thought maybe it would be crazy loud but it wasn't too bad.

Congratulations on the new book! It does take it out of you a bit though, doesn't it? I'd tell you to relax now but I'm sure you've got tons to catch up on after focusing on your book. At least, that was how it was with me. Kudos on a job well done, and remember to at least take a good long moment to celebrate!

Congratulations on finishing your book! I can't wait for it to come out, I'm sure it will be amazing. Love the new strip quilt, I always love red and white together but I think this has inspired me to create a similar quilt for my son's new room in his color choice - navy, grey, and orange.
