Welcome to finish it up Friday!
Yesterday spent the day sewing, just for the fun of it. And it was good.
I always have a plethora of strings....so I am making another candy coated quilt. This will be my 3rd one! (Pattern is in the book Sunday Morning Quilts.) Playing with so much color has been a good antidote to the rainy and dreary weather that we've had all. week. long.
As a thank you for joining me each week for finish it up Friday, I'm going to do a little giveaway. (I actually think I have too many scraps, can you believe it?!) If you'd like to win a little scrap bundle from me, please leave a comment in this post. In your comment, I'd love to hear if you have any fun weekend plans. (International entries welcome, as long as you are willing to pay the shipping overages if sent outside the US.) One comment per person and please make sure that I have a way of contacting you. Thanks!
Now, it's time to link up your finishes. Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!

I just love your fabric choices, as always. This is so pretty!
Actually, our weekend begins today! My kids have the day off school, and for some reason, we are having summer weather in May so we are off to the beach. (I've been pedal to the medal sewing this week, so it will be nice spending time with a whole gaggle of children in the sun.)
I hope the weather picks up for you and you have a wonderful weekend!! :)
Ohh, I love surprise scrap packs!
My 2.5 year old daughter made plans to go to the zoo with a friend from daycare tomorrow, so I guess that's what we're doing! :-)
I just finished letterpresing invitations for my brother-in-law's wedding, so I'm hoping that I can find time this weekend to move on to a quilt project, as well!
EK! I was just thinking of doing a scrap quilt and could use some variety. This weekend we'll be putting the finishing touches on our basement remodel. I CAN'T WAIT to call this project done!
I love playing with other people's scraps, so count me in! What a fun giveaway! My weekend plans include a sleepover with my two adorable granddaughters, breakfast with their parents on Saturday morning, our first boat outing of the season, Spiderman at the movies and maybe even an arts and crafts festival on Sunday! It's our first pretty weekend without many outside obligations in a long time!!
Lovely bright quilt! I am amazed at your collection of fabrics, just awesome!!!
I may be going to a quiltshow this weekend, and have also made time for lots of sewing! Maybe create a mothersday present, depending on how much time it will take to finish everything else first.

Then on Sunday we are participating in a motorcycle ride to raise funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Thanks! (charlottesgraceforacure@gmail.com)
Just realized it is time for me to do another scrap quilt, one that is a bit more improv than my last few quilts. Would love to throw your scraps in the mix! Planning to watch soccer this weekend and enjoy time with my extended family.
Would love to play with your scraps! Thanks for the giveaway! I am finishing up a commission quilt (turning out to be tons of fun) and my boys are off hunting, so I plan to stay in comfies and sew all weekend!

Thank you for your link-up each week. I enjoy seeing the many modern quilts. I would love to win your scrap bundle as I tend to use country colors or civil war repro fabrics. Spring is finally here which means my 3 year old and I can head out on an early morning walk and decide what to do on the way. There's a park close to home, as well as we have memberships to the aquarium and the museum. We get to have our special time together, and the rest of the house sleeps in. Win-win!!
I would LOVE some scraps! I am planning on starting a spider web quilt. This weekend I'll be making more totes for breat cancer patients (and mowing the yard, but that doesn't sound like fun).
Last weekend I cleaned house so this weekend I am hoping to sew, sew and sew some more.

love! Your project is so bright and colorful. Those scraps are just the berries! I am currently doing fanned scrap string blocks for a swap with my bee members. My fun plans for the weekend include going to pick up three bins of fabric from a woman I know from church who is putting her house up for sale to move to a warmer climate! I will sort through it and anything that I do not want, I will donate to a quilt group at a church where my friend is the pastor.
Thanks for the chance. New (to me) fabric scraps!
Weekend: We are going to my 21yr old daughter's BFA Senior Thesis Exhibition. In addition to her paintings, she's made a hugh rat that hangs from a 12'h x9'w frame. It's made from old t-shirts. The body's in black that's been splatter bleached and the details in white, dyed with pink acrylic paint, water and walnut husks. Reminds me of a scrappy quilt! Refused to learn sewing from me..learned through trial & error.
Oh I'd love a chance to win some scraps! Thank you! As for weekend plans, I have a big organizing project ahead of me. *groan* But if I can squeeze in some sewing I'll be fine. :)
I love scrap quilts. I am meeting with a quilt group Saturday morning. Should be fun. fmoore11589@comcast.net
New scraps, that would be very exciting! My daughter and I are taking my little grandson to see Thomas Train. Well, I think it may be a train dressed as Thomas, but we won't tell him that!
Amanda, I love your style of writing. So grounded and real. I always look forward to reading your posts and have learned a great deal. Today I am working on finishing a springy table runner for mom for Mother's Day.
I would love your scraps :-) I am hoping to finish a few blocks for the Gypsy Wife QAL, and the rest of my bee blocks. I am also hoping to get my aerial quilt quilted. Of course then I want to sleep in, have a relaxing long breakfast with the fam. and do something with just my son and I :-)
I'd love the scraps. I love your colors. As a new quilting mom, I'm enjoying the machine quilting post. I wonder if you would ever teach how you pick pattern/colors and do a blog on that (maybe your already have?) This weekend will be in the garden!
I am off to my guild meeting. Really looking forward to having a day to myself doing quilty things.
Gardening! Its finally not raining here in Virginia!
Love everything you do! Company for dinner tonight and more company tomorrow. Life is good.
BTW I need more cool scraps like yours!
Scraps scare me, I'm so new to quilting and I'm having a hard time just throwing fabric together on my own. So this would be a good starting point for me. So I would love some of your scraps!
This weekend I'll be watching my son play baseball and finishing up a quilt for a guild challenge. Thanks!
Happy Friday Amanda Jean ! I have only been quilting for 2 years, would love to boost up my scraps :))

Hope you have a great weekend yourself -- your quilt is looking beautiful.
Love to have some scraps. I am drawn to happy colors and beachy prints. This weekend I plan to finish up sewing microwave bowl cozies and hand quilting a UFO table runner. Thanks for the chance at some fabric. I am after all addicted. :}

Learned this week I will have a grandchild in December. A first grandchild! I need to make a Christmas Quilt!
I LOVE your candy quilts! I would be afraid to attempt one, so I just wanted to share the love. This weekend I'm braving the weather ti buy bathroom fittings (renovating an apartment) Sunday I might try some painting- but since I'll have a 6-y-o & a dog 'helping' it might not work out so well.
Love yr work

Hi there!
I am planning to finish sewing on the LAST row of my King sized hexie quilt that I have been working on(by hand) for the past 1.5 years!!!! It has about 4,000 pieces(1") and is made all from scraps I have received from friends, pen pals and swaps. I love scraps!!!!
I am in Canada and would be happy to pay the difference to mail to me!
Thanks a bunch,
Jacqueline in Pitt Meadows

I was going to finish up gardening and planting on Saturday but it's raining right now and supposed to continue so I might be forced to sew all weekend! Thanks for the chance!
We are sprucing up our outdoor playhouse to be an outdoor reading nook for our teenager. I can't wait!
I am spending a wonderful weekend in paradise (northern California coast) where there is wonderful weather, and I will be sewing as much as possible. I love trying to use up scraps, but they don't seem to disappear very fast! (So why am I wanting some of your scraps?!? I'm just that crazy!!)
Our "fun weekend plans" are going on a fund raising walk along a railway line, through dark dripping tunnels, and over bridges. This is taking place through the Manawatu Gorge, half a world away from you, in New Zealand. It should be fun, as long as those in charge remember to stop the trains for the day!!
And yes, I'd love some scraps too.
I'd love some of your lovely scraps! This weekend we are having my daughters 11th birthday party. She creatively requested a FRUIT themed party (??) so I uncreatively went to the dollar stuff, saw tiki torches and flamingo decor and declared it a luau! Lucky me, she's thrilled! Then, the very minute the last guest walks out the door, before cleaning up dripping ice cream or clearing the room of wrapping paper or wadded up napkins, I'm going to crawl into bed and take a nap. A loooong nap!
My "fun" weekend plans is learning how to use to new food processor I got. I am cutting all the crap out of my diet and eating healthier and, with that, I need to prepare healthier foods and have them ready to eat in the fridge when I have cravings so I don't cheat. I'm sure I'll also be sewing and cross-stitching as well :) Thanks for doing a give-away!
Would love to add some new pretties to my scrap bin. This weekend I'm finishing up a project for school, and taking Dad out for his birthday.
I'd love some new scraps! I'm tired of looking at the same old scraps in my stash!
My weekend - soccer, soccer, soccer!
It's supposed to be in the upper 90s here this weekend so we likely won't be doing too much of anything other than trying to stay cool. I'm hoping to finish the crib skirt I started and also finish up the painting on the dresser for the nursery...I need to be fast, baby girl is due May 22nd!!
Hello, I will be attending a Jane Eyre book club tea and discussion Sat. morning and then hopefully sewing for the rest of the day. Thanks for the scrap giveaway.
I was just looking through your book thinking I should attempt to cut down on my scrap pile. I hope to get to this soon. Yours looks so fresh and fun.
I don't have any exciting plans this weekend, but next weekend my niece is getting married, so that's pretty exciting! Would LOVE to win your scraps :o)
A fun weekend? Yes with the Mississippi Quilters Assoc. at their June Gathering in Jackson.
Over in the UK Monday is our May holiday, so we have an extra long weekend. Hoping to fill it with trips to the beach, walking in the woods, ballet lessons, a BBQ and, if I'm lucky, a bit of sewing!
Housework, grocery shopping, a young friend's Ukrainian dance recital. Hope to squeeze some quilting time! Someone else's scraps are always so much more interesting than your own! Thanks for the chance to win
I love your projects - all of them - you have such a bright cheery stash - and am always jealous! I'm going on a NJ Shop Hop with some of my sewing pals! Looking forward to checking out new stores.....and getting quilty inspirations!!!
Love this quilt. Such vibrant scraps! I need to build a scrap stash like that. Weekend plans? Maybe a trip to the city market (opening for the season tomorrow), a little antiquing, and a couple's shower for my son and future daughter-in-law who are getting married in a few weeks. And just maybe there will be a little time on Sunday to baste a quilt. (I enjoy your blog and am so happy you linked me up to Margaret's Hope Chest--I have a lot of connections to GR)
May not believe it but I am going to finish up machine quilting my "Sunday Morning Quilt" that I made when I first bought your book.(the one on the cover). I give away pretty much all my quilts, but this one is mine. I went for a small vacation last weekend to Newport Beach Ca. ( I live in Austin Tx) so a quite weekend at home is good. I would be thrilled with your scraps, you are my favorite quilter!
Hope I win also, going to a quilt show sponsored by northern lights quilt quild, show is this sat and sun at JFK hs on rte 138, hope to see other quilters who follow this blog, love those big quilts!
Hopefully a little sewing and reading this weekend.
Amanda, as always thank you for hosting the party! I am planning to buy a birthday present for two wonderful people in my life....my Mom and MIL. Have a great weekend. Marie (mlismore@optusnet.com.au)
I usually don't comment on giveaways but there are ladybugs on top of that pile so I can't resist :-). This weekend I will make 7 zippy pouches to give as Mther's Day gifts and shuttle my 2 kids to 5 (FIVE!!!) birthday parties.
I'm attending a "sewcial" with my guild tomorrow! Thanks for the chance. Your fun sewing is lovely :)
You have awesome scraps - thank you for the chance to win and for all the inspiration you have given me! I plan to quilt a baby quilt for my cousin's first baby and go to the gym with my husband.
Colorful scraps would be a change for me since almost all of my scraps have been inherited and now the colors are all muted. This weekend I am celebrating my 30th birthday, I turned 30 on April 30th!
Wow, what a fun giveaway! We don't have any huge plans for the weekend, I have to finish clearing out my college-age son's room. I get him back for another summer, which means I'm back to sewing in the dining room. I'll take that trade anyday!
How sweet of your to share your beloved scraps!!! The first weekend in May is always happy at our house...Kentucky Derby spoken here :)
I started quilting because I love the scrappy quilts I see...the only trouble is that as a beginner you have a lack of scraps! This would be a real treat. No major plans for the weekend (did not realize it is Friday!).
Oh how I love all those wonderful bright colors together, gorgeous!
Having friends visit to cheer us up after losing a friend this week to a massive heart attack.
Thanks for the chance to win some of your cheery scraps :0)
Happy Sewing
Other people's scraps are always so much more fun! Love your new quilt.
Saturday, my husband and my car are going out of town, so my four kids and I are gardening. Or at least that's the ambitious plan. Given that they are 8mos, 3, 5, and 7, it will probably turn into playing in the mud fairly quickly :)
What a great idea for a giveaway! I would LOVE to play with a bit of your scraps. My email is dubdancer@gmail.com
Thanks for your awesome blog :)
I would find it so refreshing to use some colors and patterns that are picked out by someone else -- nice way to inject some variety into the stash.
Smiling because I need more scraps like...and I never, never win anything, but still I will tell you that my weekend plans are to enjoy being here on Jekyll Island (a small barrier island off the coast of Georgia) on a small sailboat, where my tub of fabric and sewing machine take up the one extra berth.

You can never have too many scraps! But i would be glad to take some off your hands!!! Going to a best friends wedding this weekend and spending time with family :)
I love looking at all the links and finding new blogs. Yay! I'm tired of my scraps...Tomorrow I will be chasing around with my son doing spring things (finally). Sunday I get to go my local MQG meeting (Ithaca Modern Quilt Guild). Thanks for the chance!
I'm going to clean my garage. It sounds dull but I love a clean garage. It's a huge mess right now. I'm also going to plant tomatoes. That's fun cause it just may mean summer is on the way.
My funnest plan is to do as much of my gardening as I can near my lilac bushes--they smell wonderful right now!
I'd love to win the scraps! My first large quilt I made was your cand coated quilt in pinks and grays.
Pink and lots of it is a good antidote for what I'll be doing all weekend... Carrying loud, stinky, energetic boys to and from all of their games this weekend. We have three boys and the pace is frenetic at times.
Bit I love the chaos. Especially when I can go hide in my sewing room at night to wind down.
We are heading to Holland, Michigan, to enjoy the tulips tomorrow! Chicago has been suffering from the same rainy dreary weather, so we're hoping the tulips brighten our day!
I love the colors of your quilt, so fun and cheery. We've been having a lot of rain and cheery is just the ticket. Tonight I went to a talent show and my girls sang the song Let It Go from Frozen. Tomorrow and Sunday, lots of relaxing and Church.
Thank you for the opportunity to win some scraps! My plans for the weekend include developing lesson plans for an honors weekend seminar I am teaching at my undergrad university and machine quilting my first quilt.
I love your blog! Thank you for the inspiring patterns. I just ordered your book and can't wait to receive it from amazon.
I will be at my sons all week-end lounging by the pool. To win some of your scraps would be the best deal ever.
Nancy
I would love some scraps 😊
I will be cleaning out the kids rooms this weekend
My oldest daughter turned 9 today, so we are having a treasure hunt birthday party for her tomorrow! Thanks for the giveaway; I love your blog and have been reading it for a few months now. :) sarah@forrussia.org
I would SO love to win your scraps---I think scraps are like Chinese food. No matter what you have in front of you, everyone else's looks so much better. (Plus I want to make a new knitting bag.) I have to work Saturday, and then I hope to get the grass cut when I come home. It is supposed to be dreary and rainy here Sunday, so I will probably go to my parents' house for dinner and watch old black & white movies. iabrenda0312@aolDOTcom.
Scraps are always fun! We have baseball, friends and hopefully some family time planned. I am hopeful to get my little initial mats done. They are all ready for quilting. I have 10 left to quilt. So hopefully they will go quick!. I love Finish it up Friday by the way. Look forward to it every week! So glad you are back online. You always inspire me to go use my stash and make some scrappy quilts! Thanks- K-
I just cut up a phone book at bee today wanting to start my string quilt. Would love some of your scraps to add to mine!
Saturday morning I get to spend at a Special Olympics track meet watching my son and his friends compete. Great, except for cold, windy North Dakota weather. Then we need to clean out our garage and shed because it's clean up week, not fun. For the rest of the weekend, I hope to finish sewing my Layer Cake Sampler Quilt along top, just have sashing strips left. Yeah! Then I need to clean my craft room.
What? Too many scraps? I don't believe it! I'm about to clean out the chicken coop and tackle a few gardening jobs, but that's not really fun. Tonight when the kids are tucked up in bed I'm going to try Heidi at Fabric Mutt's newest tutorial. I also want to make a candy coated quilt top now - thanks for that!! I think I will love your book forever. It really is fantastic!
Love love scraps!!! But, this weekend I'm gonna celebrate my newborn just 7 days old. Quilting has to wait a little bit. Just a little bit ;-)
I think I may take the girls to see a giant puppet version of the Jungle Book on Saturday and on Sunday we have our weekly inter generational game of kickball and picnicking at a local park/playground. And of course work some more on my William Morris QST quilt. Been collecting William Morris fabrics for ten years and finally decided to cut into them.
Plans for the weekend are to head to my parents cottage and get it ready for the invasion of kids and grand kids arriving on the long weekend coming up in the near future.
Would love some of your scraps down here in little 'ol New Zealand! So far, have had a busy weekend. Visited a friend and her gorgeous newborn, attended a baby shower, where my gift of a patchwork crib quilt was a huge hit (only my 4th ever quilt so far), and finished the day off with a visit to my cousins and her two wee girls. My 17mth old son had a ball too :)
Too many scraps! Never! :) it's dark and dreary here too. No fun at all. hayleymstephens at gmail dot com
I'm always up for some scraps. I am working on my third string quilt at this time. Love the colors in yours.
Fun weekend plans?? I guess grocery shopping and taking my son to his SAT test aren't really fun.....and I'm not sure that running a half marathon is going to be too much fun either, but that's what's on tap for me this weekend.
I could use some new scraps. This weekend spending time cleaning up the sewing room so there is more room for sewing.
I'll be spending the weekend with my MIL who is staying with us for a few days; no specific plans except for eating delicious seafood!

Love scraps! No quilting on the calendar this weekend. The garden calls as does the local zoo. I am a docent and will be spending some time interacting with visitors coming to see the animals. Maybe a little bit of knitting in front of th TV at the end of the day. Time to hit the weedy garden beds. Have a great weekend everyone!
