not a finish

Welcome to finish it up Friday!

Yesterday spent the day sewing, just for the fun of it. And it was good.
I always have a plethora of strings....so I am making another candy coated quilt. This will be my 3rd one! (Pattern is in the book Sunday Morning Quilts.) Playing with so much color has been a good antidote to the rainy and dreary weather that we've had all. week. long.
As a thank you for joining me each week for finish it up Friday, I'm going to do a little giveaway. (I actually think I have too many scraps, can you believe it?!) If you'd like to win a little scrap bundle from me, please leave a comment in this post. In your comment, I'd love to hear if you have any fun weekend plans. (International entries welcome, as long as you are willing to pay the shipping overages if sent outside the US.) One comment per person and please make sure that I have a way of contacting you. Thanks!

Now, it's time to link up your finishes. Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!

Weekend: We are going to my 21yr old daughter's BFA Senior Thesis Exhibition. In addition to her paintings, she's made a hugh rat that hangs from a 12'h x9'w frame. It's made from old t-shirts. The body's in black that's been splatter bleached and the details in white, dyed with pink acrylic paint, water and walnut husks. Reminds me of a scrappy quilt! Refused to learn sewing from me..learned through trial & error.

And yes, I'd love some scraps too.

  127. I'd love some of your lovely scraps! This weekend we are having my daughters 11th birthday party. She creatively requested a FRUIT themed party (??) so I uncreatively went to the dollar stuff, saw tiki torches and flamingo decor and declared it a luau! Lucky me, she's thrilled! Then, the very minute the last guest walks out the door, before cleaning up dripping ice cream or clearing the room of wrapping paper or wadded up napkins, I'm going to crawl into bed and take a nap. A loooong nap!

Maybe a trip to the city market (opening for the season tomorrow), a little antiquing, and a couple's shower for my son and future daughter-in-law who are getting married in a few weeks. And just maybe there will be a little time on Sunday to baste a quilt. (I enjoy your blog and am so happy you linked me up to Margaret's Hope Chest--I have a lot of connections to GR)

  166. I'd love to win the scraps! My first large quilt I made was your cand coated quilt in pinks and grays.

Pink and lots of it is a good antidote for what I'll be doing all weekend... Carrying loud, stinky, energetic boys to and from all of their games this weekend. We have three boys and the pace is frenetic at times.

Bit I love the chaos. Especially when I can go hide in my sewing room at night to wind down.

I would SO love to win your scraps---I think scraps are like Chinese food. No matter what you have in front of you, everyone else's looks so much better. (Plus I want to make a new knitting bag.) I have to work Saturday, and then I hope to get the grass cut when I come home. It is supposed to be dreary and rainy here Sunday, so I will probably go to my parents' house for dinner and watch old black & white movies. iabrenda0312@aolDOTcom.
