Welcome to finish it up Friday!
Yesterday I finished my daughter's second abstract quilt. You can read more about the design in this post. Photo taken in the middle of the street (again), but this time in the middle of a snow storm. Fun times!
This is where one of my carefully pieced quilt backs ended up. It's been a long time since I stippled a quilt and it was actually fun and relaxing. (I know that sounds weird, but it's true!) For speed and durability purposes I finished the binding completely by machine. The elephant fabric was originally purchased for a different quilt, but it ended up on this one instead. It's a perfect tie in to the front (color wise) and my daughter absolutely loves it. The binding is Kona Azure. It was THE only fabric in my stash that matched. Thankfully she approved. :)
It was very fun to tuck her into bed last night with her new quilt. We are both very pleased with how it turned out! It measures about 66" x 62". And....this is scrap project #53/101.
Now it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!

Awww! I always love seeing quilts that are being used and loved. Also, I can't believe you're over halfway to your 101, well done!
Hi!!! I love her quilt!!!! Very pretty and modern!!!! I wish I had a finish to show!!!! But I love getting to see others finishes!!!! Thanks for the fun!!!
It's beautiful, Amanda Jean!
It's great! I love the whole idea behind.
the negative space of this quilt looks amazing against all of that snow! It's pretty funny what we'll do for a great quilt photo, isn't it?

Stippling is therapeutic. I love to end the day with an hour of stippling. I'm sorry to hear that you are a fabric hoarder and only found one match for your binding! You're just going to have to do something about that.
Such a great quilt!! Love the snowy photo too :)
Amanda
Wow, that is dedication to take a picture in a snowstorm, and the picture and the quilt turned out just beautiful!! You wee one looks so cute tucked in ;)
It looks great! And isn't that the best when you see someone using a quilt you made.. Give me a smile every time.
Extremely cool quilt!
Gorgeous. The snow looks cold and I am so ready for spring!
I understand that your daughter loves the quilt. I would do the same :-)
Yeay for A!!! I know she slept extra well under her abstract quilt last night;) Love her ducks wooden toy:)
Darling and colorful abstract quilt! How sweet to see your daughter cuddled under it.
I like your abstract quilt a lot!
Such a nice finish. Your daughter must be so proud. I love the fabric on the back... I just used the same one, but in pink. :-)
Awww I wish I could make something as beautiful as this. My latest project was as unexpected (but necessary) as it was ugly-and used just a few times. Your daughter looks adorable :0)
Love those elephants!
your daughter is a design prodigy! It reminds me of Gee's Bend quilts. Awesome!
Beautiful Quilt, I love the snowy background. I agree the backing is perfect. And what a sweet picture of your little one. On to number 52!
What a wonderful team you make. She has a terrific eye. She looks so sweet under it.
I just love your daughter's quilt and it is mesmerizing to me as to how she came up with the layout and color but it works!
What an adorable picture! The abstract top looks beautiful and I love those elephants!
Love that elephant print for the backing AND the azure for the binding. What great compliments to that fabulous design! Snug as a bug!
Great color choices for the negative space and binding, knowing that each could have been something else.....
How wonderful!
It is so amazing. Love your daughters designing. I am really impressed that you have got to 53/100 scrap quilting. Well done
Perfect! I love that you finish these for her.
I love the finished quilt. I wonder which family member I can bribe to hold up a quilt in the next snow storm? Congratulations on passing the halfway mark for your scrap projects.
This quilt is absolutely fabulous! I love it!!! As always, Amanda thank you for hosting the linky.
This quilt is a piece of art! Congrats!
Your daughter's quilt is lovely.
And I just have to say: she looks a LOT like a mini Amanda Jean in that photo.
Beautiful design! You two make a great team :o)
Oh, my heart! The picture of her under the quilt. Makes me a bit teary. So sweet and she has a great eye. She is off to a great start in her quilting career.
Lovely quilts. She looks so peaceful under her new quilt. I see we machine bind quilts the same way.
Love that backing!
Well, that is just just one of the best quilts. Abby is a fabulous designer! I have to be honest--I really like the picture of the quilt and snow storm, although I know you are probably "can't be just be DONE with the snow!"
Very very cool! This quilt could rival any I've seen in modern quilting magazines. Btw I love stippling too. It's my favorite look for a quilt.
LOVE A's quilt! Tell her she did a fantastic job! (Mom didn't do so bad either ;))
Way to go Miss A! Wonderful finish there. You and your mama make a great quilting team. :o)
Love this!!! it's so so pretty. You guys need to work together more, she's hired! ;)
I just love this quilt! I need to give this process a try myself! Your daughter did a tremendous job on her design!
It's a class A win on all fronts...and the back rocks.
Your quilt is beautiful and your daughter has inherited your eye for colour
Please tell me you had A sign and date a label to put on the back. It is such a precious collaboration between you two. It deserves a special time stamp.
so colourful and another super quilt
I love that quilt! ;p
Your daughter's quilt is a work of art.....I love it. I love how fearless kids are when they create.
I would love this quilt regardless of who designed and made it, but the mother/daughter project just makes my heart sing! Seeing your daughter follow in your footsteps but with her own style is so wonderful. The white of the snow makes those colors pop even more ;-)
I have heard from my sister in StPaul about this awful winter for you guys. I hope you are managing to stay warm and happy despite the deep freeze. As always, thank you for your active and valuable contribution to our community!
It's fabulous CrazyMom! I'll bet your neighbors are wondering "Who is that maniac that moved in down the street?????" LOL
She has a real eye for color and design.
Beautiful quilt
Shawn
