If ever there was a mystery quilt that is up my alley, this one would be it! It was the perfect pattern for my first foray into the world of mystery quilts. I love the fabrics I picked. I loved the process. I love the results. There was no strip piecing (yay!) and there is a 2" square border around the outside. Perfection!!!
(She's a bright one, isn't she?)
The mystery quilt reveal meeting was held at the library last evening and it was great fun to see all the quilts. I never tire of seeing the options that one pattern can produce. It always astonishes me, and in the best possible way.
The quilt top measures 58" x 78".
Now, I'd better get to quilting something...that stack of tops is piling up!

Yay! We can give up control and come up with a lovely result! The world is mysterious that way. I would love to see a pattern for this.
Oh, I love how it turned out!
I think I´m to much of an controlfreak to dare such a challenge!!
pretty!
curious: what's your beef with strip piecing? :)
teaginny,
just that the seams come apart. it makes me want to pull my hair out. i MAY be an obsessive backstitcher. :)
aj
This is gorgeous!
really pleasuring my eyes...
it turned out wonderfully
I love this :)
Seeing this has made me reconsider joining in on a mystery quilt, the next time one comes along. Of course I like this pattern and I really like your colors and your use of grey as the background. It's a happy quilt!
It's a beauty - the border adds so much to that quilt!
Can you share the mystery quilt instructions? Looking for something fun to do with my quilt group this summer and this one is super cute!!!
lovely! The design is fun and surprising and those colours really pop... I like it!
That is just beautiful! I think I'll always love a gray background.
It's awesome Amanda Jean...a mystery quilt with an beautiful result...luv it!!
Great one! It does tricks with the eyes! :) I love the pattern.
Cool! It turned out great! I'm glad your first mystery quilt was a positive experience. Mine was too!
I love this!!! Any chance I can get the pattern???
I love seeing how they ar all different too.
I love it. I loved it when I saw the fabric pull you did for it. It's so cheery!
Great colors. It is very pretty.
What a great job! I love it! Great color selection. Yeah, it's bright, but the gray tones it down perfectly....not too much, either. I love it AJ!
That's so exciting! I always love seeing the differences that happen when the same pattern is used - fabric is just amazing!!
That is lovely. Makes me think of a bowl of ripe fruit. I love the border, a stunning quilt.
Ooh, I really like this! I am usually a traditional or prim type of quilter but lately I just can't seem to get enough of modern quilts.
You Did It! Congratulations on letting go -- it looks great. I LOVE your colors!
love it!!!! love the colors and at least for a mystery it is not a sampler block quilt--i for some reason don't like those. This is great!
What a lovely surprise finish. I'm not brave enough yet but maybe someday I'll let go of control enough to try one. I agree, looking at other quilts from the same pattern using various fabrics is wonderful. I appreciate how Sew Sweetness (I think) has published all of her testers' purses in her blog entry so people can see the options. It helps us new quilters to think outside the box.
This is so cute! I love the bright colors mixed with the gray background. I'm always a little nervous when doing a mystery quilt that I won't like the end result, but this one is a winner for sure!
Amanda
I love this color scheme. Have a group of fabrics pulled from a few months back using these very same colors. Just haven't gotten to it. I'm still too much of a control freak to do a mystery quilt. Besides, the fact that I always design my own. Good for you for trying it.
Adorable!!!
Very pretty. There's something freeing about doing a mystery quilt. Yours turned out great!
Great quilt. Love it.
Have a very blessed Easter!
This is the best mystery quilt I have ever seen.
I will add my name to the chorus of folks who would like a copy of that pattern. Pleeeeease!
This is really fun! I am still loving the mystery quilt idea! (HINT HINT!)
Great bright colors with the gray background. Can't wait to see how you decide to quilt it!
I love it!! I'd love to reproduce it, too :)
this is absolutely beautiful!!!! Love all the colors and the pattern is so pretty.
I love it too.
Love it! Are the instructions available somewhere?
I'm happy that it went so well for you.
Lovely finished quilt. I, too, would love to have the pattern.
