A few weeks ago my daughter brought her birdie quilt to me, crying. She was sad that the birds were starting to come off. I assured her that I could fix it and proceeded to set it aside. I finally fixed it today while she was at school. Of course it took me all of 15 minutes! I left her a little note along with the repaired quilt on her bed to surprise her. I was half listening to see what her reaction would be and I wasn't disappointed in the least. I heard her happily say, "hey, birdies, it's nice to see ya' again." Oh. My. Lands. Isn't that precious????
I think it's fantastic that she has loved the quilt so much that it needed repair. That's just the way it should be!

What a cute story! I agree...this means she has used the quilt a lot, which then means she really adores it! :) My son has yet to take to the quilt I made him. Maybe he will like the next one more and take to it and wear it out! LOL

I made my boys (now 30, 26 & 21) quilts when they were young. It makes me so proud when I go to their homes & see them & their kids cuddled under the quilts I made them, watching a movie.

Oh so sweet! My son loves all the things I make for him and it just warms my heart. He has a dozen blankets but instantly took to the quilt I made him when he was two and calls it "My Qwilt." Love, love, love!

Awesome! Looking at your other post about the birdie quilt reminds me: I LOVE the border on that one - the little variety of brick-y shapes with the matching white background ... I love things like that, when they seem to "float" on the background of the quilt. So sweet that your daughter can enjoy her birdies again!
Very sweet. Well, that new sewing space of yours must be shaping up rather nicely if you're up and mending! :-) BTW, I remember the post from when you made that quilt for your daughter's birthday. It is one that sticks out in my mind because although I admire all your work, I'm particularly fond of this quilt. Glad it's back in circulation!

Oh I love the things that come out of their little mouths! My son has had me repair stuffies and favorite pj's and blamkies! My favorite was when the tail came off of 'Spot' who had wires in him to make him poseable. Poor Spot sat on my side table (I was kind of dreading that wire) and after three days my son sat with his head in my lap and told me he missed Spot...well rip my heart out! I fixed poor spot while my son sat by in concern and asked if I was sure I couldfix him.
I think the biggest compliment you can get is when someone wants you to fix the quilt you made because it has been so well used :o)

Oh, I love that your daughter's quilt needed to be mended. I lost count of how often my kids' special blankets had to be mended over the years. It's awesome that she loves it so much!
