I've heard from several of you who have used my "one way to machine bind a quilt" tutorial and loved it. I'm so happy to hear it! Since reading all your wonderful comments on that post (thank you!) I've learned a thing or two. I've tweaked my method just a bit, so I've added an edit to the end of the tutorial. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
Also! My and Cheryl's book is available for pre-order on Amazon!!! (That feels ALL kinds of crazy.)

Just pre-ordered it! Of course, I will forget that I've done that and it will arrive one day next spring and be a sweet surprise in my mailbox!! Looking forward to it.
Congratulations on your book......gonna go order it.
I wish you continued success, your workmanship rocks, and I love that you are so generous with your ideas.
Even if I don't get to make all that I want from your blog I still enjoying thinking about making it!
Happy sewing and Merry Christmas
I just happen to Pre-Order it also! ;-) Can't Wait to get it!!
A
I just pre-ordered. It will be a nice treat when it arrives
Thanks so much for posting tutorials...I'm a brand new quilter and will definitely be checking them out very soon!
Hugs,
Pam
Ok, my dear. In LOVE with the orange in this quilt!! Awesome!! And I am totally ordering your book! :). Miss u!
congrats! how exciting :)
What a wonderful accomplishment! Can't wait to check it out. Thanks for the update on the binding tutorial. I will be trying it this week with several mug rugs :) Smiles~Beth
Congrats on your book and can't wait to see it in person!
So cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of your book!
I too love your binding method, only one problem, I did it backwards.lol I began by starting my usual way, sewing the binding to the front, and finished on the back. Next time will have to remember to double check the tutorial before beginning. Since it is a set of 4 mug mats, will just have to repeat the error. Thanks a bunch!
Amanda Jean, I'm so sorry I have been away for a while. Life has been too crazy for words. My blog should be Crazy Woman Quilts! LOL. So, where have I been??? You have a book coming out???!!! Wow! So cool! I am so happy for you! Must go get one. Will you sign it for me? :-)
Congrats again on the book, Amandajean!
i am so excited for you! congratulations again!
I am so excited for this book. Do you want to come to our quilt club and bring lots of books and sign them and sell them and have a trunk show? hey, why not. Next spring or summer. Yay
Picked up 3 of them just now. I'm more excited for April than Christmas!!
Oh, and bring Cheryl too!!!!
Congrats on the book. Have you tried stitching the binding to the front of the quilt and then stitch in the ditch from the front, catching the binding in back? That way you don't have machine stitching showing on the front or that line of stitching on the back.....
I ordered my book! Thanks for the heads-up!
All kinds of crazy if good. :)
Yea! Can't wait to pre-order!
WooHoo CrazyMom -- VERY exciting!!! Are you going to do a book blog tour like many of the books do???
Just pre-ordered it and can't wait to get it in the mail.
I am so thrilled to have pre-ordered your book. You really opened my eyes to so many possibilites in the quilting world. I am so happy to have your book in my home.
Yea!! Congrats on the book, and this is how I've been doing my binding for a few years now! I love it, and when I brought a few charity quilts to the local Project Linus, they said they prefer the machine binding, as they hold up to use much better for the kids they give the quilts to. I sew for friends and family, and want them to get used too. "My Sweet Prairie" (Monika) has a great binding tutorial also that I use to join the beginning and end of the binding to look nice.
I am one of many that ran right to Amazon to pre-order it!!!! Can't wait!!!!!!
Thanks for the idea about leaving an extra 1/8th" on the backing/batting before sewing on the binding. I am excited to try it! I just finished making tons of tree skirts to sell at a craft fair and I used the scraps to make a beautiful Christmas quilt for a friend. I will try your edited version of machine binding on it. I have been machine binding since you first mentioned Anita's tutorial and I love it! Such a time saver and I find it as therapeutic as hand stitching.
So excited about your book!!! You must be thrilled!!! Can't wait for it to arrive in the mail. Thanks for the tutorial. Just used it on my latest quilt.
this is gorgeous man.
one more of many that pre-ordered and can't wait!!
I hope the book will have the success you so deserve!
I want to see this quilt!!! looks intreaging
Oh Amanda, I'm over the moon about your book! I've added it to my christmas list!
How on earth did you trim two layers and not the top layer?
i machine bound a quilt this last week. i don't think i referred to your tutorial, though. i'll have to next time.
your book looks lovely, of course :)
I hopped on over to Amazon and pre-ordered as quickly as humanly possible!
Can't wait for this book. I LOVE the cover.
After 'attempting' and failing at hand sewing on a quilt I am doing for my mom for Christmas, I ran into this post. I knew it could be done, but all the other posts I've found weren't too helpful.
Thank you for this! It's JUST what I needed and now I can finish her quilt in time!! :)
