hello kitty mini

I'm forcing my daughter to like Hello Kitty because I think she's so cute. OK, in reality it hasn't taken that much convincing. At the retreat, Rene gave me some Hello Kitty fabric (that I may have been gushing over), and I made a hello kitty mini quilt for my daughter. Isn't it bright, happy and fun?

I used Lite Steam a Seam 2 (which came highly recommended by Carol) to adhere the circles. I would agree, it's a great product.

I stippled the whole thing, then I outlined the circles with additional quilting for stability.
For the back and the binding I used more polka dots because I LOVE them.
It measures 17" x 19".

In other news, these are the scraps that I received from Tammy today in the mail for my scrap challenge. She's really on the ball! I love that. My ideas are percolating already.

And the last thing for today...I recently learned how to knit little bitty baby booties from an elderly friend of mine. These went to one of my sisters, who is expecting her second little boy in a few months.
Look how little they are!
They are so fun! Plus, they are a great way to use up some of those yarn odds and ends.

love the quilt!!!! (and the booties too for that matter)

I started conditioning my daughter to like hello kitty from birth, but like you said, it didn't take too much convincing. Would love to know what this fabric is called so I can find it. I see a hello kitty quilt in the very near future. . . . . I really like how you did the circles, it looks really nice!! I am new at this blogging thing, but am a huge fan of yours, I check for new things daily . . . . . okay, a couple times a day so I don't miss something. :)

Thanks for your dedication, it is encouraging and truly inspirational! <3

That quilt is so adorable. I'm going to have to tell my 3 1/2-year-old granddaughter how fabulous Hello Kitty is. And then make her a quilt. Uh, maybe I should locate the fabric first, and THEN talk to her. That kid has a memory like a steel trap.

My daughter and I are gushing over the hellokitty mini, too! Love the baby booties - you're so multi-talented.

Adorable! I'd love to know where to find the fabric. I grew up with Hello Kitty (My mom is Japanese and we lived in Japan and Okinawa when I was a kid) so I've always been a big fan. My sewing room is all done up in Hello Kitty (and my blog is too). One of my girls loves HK and the other one could take it or leave it. The nerve.

That's a whole load of cuteness! I'm not sure what it is about circles, but they are so happy every time I see them on a quilt. And those baby booties! Both are such great ways to use up extra bits - just what's needed to reduce the stash :)

The fabrics in your little girl's quilt look great together. The Hello Kitty fabric looks to be somewhat magenta (?), which makes it stand out. Very nice.

I'm sure you'll turn out something fabulous with those scraps--wish they were mine!

Please, please bring the bootie instruction to Grand Rapids with you! [I'll see you there.]
I have a Recipe for baby sox, but not booties. That's how I use up the leftovers from my adult-sized sox.

Cute quilt and cute toes! I knew they were yours when I saw your photo in flickr.

I think Hello Kitty is adorable and that's so funny that you're trying to force your daughter into liking her.

I forced my daughter to like hello kitty too. Made it seem less odd that I would buy hello kitty stuff for me if I pretended it was for her ;) LOVE that mini quilt.
I first thought you said the booties were FOR an elderly friend..and got confused..surely she would be passed her prime baby making years?, but then I read properly.
I'm a bit simple sometimes (most of the time...)

LOVE the Hello Kitty quilt. I have a bunch of Hello Kitty fabric from when we went through that phase. My youngest girl is 10 now, so not much caring in that dept now. But I do have a niece on the way. Hmmm . . . brain spinning now.

Stacie said...

Wow, I wish I had the patience and skill to create quilts like you. I've been gardening a lot, and I guess there are actually some similarities...so maybe down the line I can jump in to my first quilt.

Hello Hello Kitty! The fabric gets whipped up into something so very, very, very cute! (And cute toe modeling too). Love it. Thank you Rene, right?
