I started quilting my house quilt over the weekend. I chose a fairly ambitious design. I hope that it doesn't kick this quilt into the "there-is-no-way-on-God's-green-earth-that-I-will-ever-finish-this-quilt" category. I guess time will tell.
lol ... i hear you!! whenever I do something a little too ambitious, I tend to forget that they should be about the same size. I did some pebble quilting, and the circles started nice and small and even, and ended up growing as I went along. looks great so far!!
How big is the quilt again? I'm afraid you might be right. If you aren't in a hurry just decide you will do two a day and then someday it will be done and you won't have tired, really tired of doing little houses. With all that said, what a cute idea. Marty aseemlylife.com
That IS fairly ambitious, but I think if you keep plugging away at it, you'll get it done. My SIL always does interesting quilting patterns. I love how it looks. She did a frog (yes, a frog!) pattern on the baby quilt for my youngest and also an alphabet, several other interesting designs. It's fun to see those, and this matches your quilt so well. I love it. Yes, finish it! It will look amazing! (Listen to ME telling YOU to finish something. LOL.)
OMGoodness! I'm a new follower of your blog and so impressed with your production level!!! (" This house design is perfect and just by what I've seen in your blog so far...I think you'll "get 'er done"! I like what above said, "a couple a day" might make it seem less like a marathon and more like a stroll! You'll get there either way!
The quilting design is inspired!! You may have to give yourself breaks from it occasionally, or you may find your "zone" and really enjoy it. Can't wait to see the reveal!
Just remember how well you did with your nine-patch quilt along. Just a row per day or even week and before you know it, it'll be done! I love that quilt and can't wait to see it finished. We all promise to come to your virtual celebration party when you reveal the finished product :-)
It's beautiful!! I really love the quilted neighborhood of houses in the white space! That's so inspired! I can't even figure out how you did it! How do you quilt it without overlapping your stitches? Do you have to turn the quilt around with every angle? It's so cute! I'm gonna love your house quilt so much!
Holy-moley, talk about ambitious?? I have one thing to say.........better you, than me!! I would NEVER have the patience for something that time consuming. Can't wait to see it all done though.
Whoa Amanda Jean, all I can say is... "What where you thinking" lol, maybe you could do some trees, roads, fences and then houses again at the bottom just to, you know, break it up?

Holy Cow Woman! It might cement you in the Crazy category! Are you doing the big stitch quilting on them? Or regular quilting? Or machine quilting? My house quilt has stalled -- need to get back to it!
I enjoy your blog I am a new quilter so I try to read and watch all I can I have not done a retreat yet but look forward to doing so thanks for sharing your knowledge RLH

LOVE it!! You can do it! That quilting pattern is a stroke of genius.
Just remember The Little Engine that Could and you will get it done! I so can relate though, many times I start something "big" and never finish it.
But it will be SO worth it. And then you will look at it incredulously and say, "I can't believe I did that!!" and be very impressed with yourself.
