I was successful.
So I thought I would try it again this year.
I only made it 20 days.
First off, I bought some simplicity charm packs. I had a moment of panic thinking, "What if they are all sold out and I miss out buying some of this beautiful fabric forever???" Oh, I shudder to think of that happening! My plan is to make another quilt much like my Christmas charm quilt with these. They came from the fabric shack.
I went to Joann's last night and I walked out with about 24 yards of fabric.
(I'm finding that it's better to NOT caluclate these things...)
The reds and blue will go into this quilt. I think.
I bought the rest of the bolts of both the orange and the grey.
I'm planning new bed quilts for my boys.
They are very excited.
They are from the Darla line by Tanya Whelan. They are delicious!!!! I purchased these with a gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop that I received from one of my blog readers. Isn't that the sweetest thing ever? Thank you so so much, Edith!!!
Now please excuse me. I have a LOT of sewing to do...

I had that same cherry fabric, and our JoAnn's was all out the last time I was in there. I wanted more! I will have to try again:)
I know it is hard to make movies. But if you ever decide to do a video tutorial. Will you show us you cutting your fabric for a quilt? That would totally rock!

That nine patch is going to be darling! I agree, charm packs are VERY hard to resist. They're just so "charming". LOL Sorry.

If you are weak then I'm a total weakling. I haven't bought fabric stash this year {yet}... but I've enhanced my yarn stash a wee (huge) bit. Sales, what can I say ~ they've been amazing!
Your Charms are very pretty. I picked up 4 packages of charms to make a quilt just like your Christmas quilt last year. It's still in queue... lol

I LOVE Moda simplicity! I made a cute table topper out of my charm pack. I also love the fabric in the last pic...I am a sucker for red and blue. :)
I say if you're going to fall, you may as well fall hard! Besides, you're buying all the fabric I can't buy -- so it's like you're buying for two. = )
You are not the only weak person around! I recently quilted my very first quilt and I KNOW I have a new favorite hobby. I am also weak. (I've always known I would never collect a paycheck if I worked in a fabric shop!)

Oh, I just love buying new fabric and in wonderfully large quantities...makes you feel so warm and tingly inside :o) I love the orange and grey together!! So boyish too!
It's ok Amanda, you buy as much fabric as you want. We all have those feelings of "I may need more of this fabric in the future ~ I better buy the whole bolt". LOL Have fun and I can't wait to see what you do with your fabric!

It's okay - you are among friends - in fact to make you feel better - I am going to go and buy some fabric too! It's the least I can do - I see that cherry fabric at Joann's every time I go and I just might get some too!
Hey, there's always next month (better to do a buying ban in February anyway since it's the shortest month). I am SO excited to see what you're going to do for your boys with the orange fabric. Will you use the gray with it? I LOVE that color combo.
How funny, I feel the same way too sometimes. Am I going to miss out? Then there is that undying sense of urgency to hunt that perfect fabric down. Can't wait to see all your projects.
I had the same sort of resolution, and if possible, it seems I've gone even more fabric crazy lately. I hate that feeling of missing out on fabric! In fact, I'm on my way to Joann's now - I need batting (but that doesn't count, right?!)

i'm trying so hard NOT to buy fabric the rest of the month, but when it's cold outside i start clicking away and convince myself I NEED it. I love orange too...and grey is a new favorite.

O.K., buying 24 yards of fabric isn't that bad but what I want to know, is what does your sewing room look like? Actually what does your Fabric stash now look like. You've seen the sticker before "She who dies with the most fabric wins", well that could be us according to my family. Have fun.

I have the same problem...fabric love. I want some Simplicity Charms or layer cakes as well. I keep looking at them but I resist. Now if I had some cash in hand that would not have to be tracked by hubby and the credit card companies....

I've been on a major fabric shopping spree lately and I MUST STOP!! I have been posting about all of it on my blog and I still have tons of pictures still to show!!
I absolutely love your fabric. I am really into aqua and red lately. I was even thinking of changing my kitchen to aqua walls but I already have red, so I will change curtains. Also that cute little baby has the cutest expression I have ever seen. She is too cute.

Just curious, how much are those charm packs?? my local quilting store has them for 7.50 for...I think 36 squares. Is that pretty good or not??

charm packs vary in price depending on where you buy them. $7.50 for 36 sounds pretty typical, i think.

I love your Darla stash! I'm madly in love with Tanya's new Darla. It wants to come to my house too. I don't know if the Fat Quarter Shop is the next best thing after sliced toast... or if it's the nail in my checkbook coffin!
Dang that's a lot of yardage you go at JoAnn's! Did you need a forklift to get your purchase to the car?
I totally agree that it's best not to quantify yardages, unless you're sorting piles of value. I don't like having to explain that those adorable two yards of something don't have a purpose yet!
