flea market fancy 2

here's another flea market fancy quilt top.
tutorial here.
original quilt here.

as you can see, i'm not doing well with any of my goals for this year (slowing down, making something other than lap quilts, making quilts for others....). but hey, i am using my stash, so that has to count for something. i guess if they were easy, they wouldn't be called goals, right?

I am finishing up a flea market fancy quilt in pinks, gray, and yellow. I have it all finished I just have to add the binding! Take a look at it here:

I used your tutorial except my white strips were only 4 inch.

I recently found your blog and I am wholly inspired by you. I don't know how you get it all done. My goal for this year is to quilt the top I've had finished since I graduated. From High school. Yep.

I love that one too! This is such a great pattern. Sorry you aren't making your goals of slowing down some ,but for what it's worth, you are totally inspiring. Way to go on using up that stash! Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking a look at my Flea Market Fancy quilt top.

This is a fantastic quilt. I love the colors. Hey those goals can't all be accomplished the first week of the year! I am finding that out too!

This could qualify as the pink in your one-colour quilt series... two birds with one stone.

MissyMack said...

Fantastic quilt- love it! The colours are great. I seriously don't know how you can do these so quickly!!

The quilttop is gorgeous!
...and...no-one said you have to reach your goals before the middle of January!!

Love this!!! Don't worry about your goals, it's only January. ;)

Beautiful pink quilt!! I'm going to use that pattern for a baby quilt one of these days!! I really am.

Does your backing ever show through all that white on the front? I had that problem on a quilt I did...

Very pretty. I'm not a quilter (long story) but will be soon. I check your blog for inspiration- especially for color mixing/blending. Thanks! I'm thinking for my first quilts, I'll try the shabby squares (is that what it's called) you did not too long ago. They'll be two- one for each of my daughters' beds.

Goals Smoals! I love lap quilts! I also love pink. That quilt is to die for!!!!!

Beautiful, as usual! I'm also working on a Flea Market Fancy-inspired quilt. I'm making it lap-size. so only 20 squares and 2.5" sashing. I should have it finished by the end of the week.

Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Anina said...

It's very pretty. I have a couple of stash busting ideas floating around in my head myself.

I love these colors! I was hoping to see that pink block from the tutorial again. I used your instructions to make this quilt with bright colors and I love it. It's just a top right now. I need to learn to machine quilt and get it finished!

I love it. Is this one queen sized or a lap quilt again? What are the dimensions of most of your lap quilts? I am just about finished with my first two quilts and I am so proud of myself! I will be posting pictures soon!

Can I ask a question that maybe others already know, but I don't - why is it called a "flea market fancy" quilt? Does it have to do w/the fabric or the design? Thanks!

Jessica said...

I love that farmer's market fabric---I've been diving into my stash as well!

Shanna said...

Another simple beauty!! What type of fabric do you use for the white? Is it muslin? I am sure you've answered this question before. Thanks!

robyn,

my first flea market fancy quilt had a lot of white on the back, so i didn't really have problems with shadowing.

nichole,

this is a lap quilt again. my lap quilts vary in size quite a bit, but i try to make them at least 55" x 70". any shorter and they drive me crazy.

Amanda Jean said...

CAB,

the quilt is called flea market fancy because that is the line of fabric that the majority of these prints come from. it was denyse schmidt's first fabric line.

Amanda Jean said...

shanna,

yes, the white is muslin.

Beautiful! Don't worry, it's just the first week of the year, you have time to work on your goals!:) Stash busting counts for a lot!

I just found your blog and I am in LOVE! I have never made a quilt before but don't really want to make a rag quilt. Do you have any other suggestions for a first quilt? Could you make this pattern without doing the stippling on top?

Anonymous said...

For my sake... I hope you never slow down! And I hope you don't slow down on the lap quilts either. I used to feel guilty about making small and lap quilts (while my friends were all working on queens and kings). And I thought whattheheck am I feeling quilty-guilty for! Doing what love. Finishing quilts. Using the quilts that I've finished... yeah... I'm hooked on lap-ics! Oh, and because I have a king pineapple that I've been quilting on for over three years. I don't think it'll EVER be done. I've kicked the king and queen habit - guilt free!

PS... the word verification I've been given is "shiesh". I think it's blogger telling me, "shiesh... enough rambling, already!"

sammyjo said...

thats a really pretty quilt, the white makes the pink really stand out :D

Ann said...

This is ALSO a lovely quilt.

Please know that your blog has inspired me to such a degree, that I have created a blog myself today.

Please keep on giving us all great ideas, at a pace you feel comfortable with ;)

2009 is going to be a great year!

Amandajean ~ you're doing a terrific job using your stash! I really love this quilt and all others that you have made. Your tutorials have really inspired me to quilt a LOT. If only I would FINISH the quilts.....UFO finishing is my goal for this year!
Thanks!

cathleen said...

Oh, my, luscious, delicious pinks! My favorites! Very pretty, Amandajean....I think I have pink quilt envy!

Heather said...

I love the pink. I have a quilt like this now that I have working on for about 3 years now. It is a bigger bed size quilt and I thought I'd be crafty and hand quilt circles in the center square of each block. BAD IDEA! I call mine hole in the wall(same thing maybe?), and love the muslin that you used.
