star quilt along, week 9

Welcome to week 9 of the quilt along. There are only 4 more stars to make after this one. It's been fun for me to watch the progress on all your quilts! You all are doing a great job!

cut one square 7 1/4" from the background fabric

cut in half diagonally, twice, to make 4 quarter square triangles

cut 4 squares 3 1/2" from a dark fabric

cut one square 6 1/2" from a medium fabric

cut 4 squares from 3 7/8" from the same medium fabric

cut each of the squares that measure 3 7/8" in half diagonally once, to make 8 half square triangles

layout as shown (you may want to double click on the photo)

sew together

and square up to 12.5".

Thanks for quilting along with me!

I was led to you by anoher german quilter, Katharina. I´m a seamstress for more then 20 years now, but this quilt-along is my first quilting project ever.
Amandajean, you do a great job explaining. I´m learning lots of new skills. It was surely a tremendous amount of work. Thank you so much.
5 blocks are already done the last days. (Number 5 was tricky....) I will continue.
Nice colors again!

greetings from germany, griselda

I need to do last week's block and this week's block and then I'll be caught up! I also need to get some more setting blocks finished. This is so much fun.

Hi there,
you never cease to amaze me. I adore your quilts. Can I just ask, how do you go about making them, the yellow, green, pink ones in particular. Where do you start? I have fabric I need to use and I like the way you do your quilts. Please help me.................lol YOu are just too clever.

Hey Amanda,
I can't believe that we're on the downhill side of our star quilts. It's a blast to see how different all of them are turning out. Thanks a ton for doing this for us.

I am now officially caught up with all the stars including todays! I had a marathon this afternoon with three of the blocks. I am about half way done with my setting blocks too! Thank you so much for putting this together! I am having too much fun.

This has gone by so fast...can't believe we're on the downhill slide. I hope to get this one done tomorrow and maybe some version 2 stars. I'm thinking of not using my setting blocks and making additional stars instead. I love how the stars look together. We'll see.

This one came together great. I have my background quilt pieces finished too...yeah! Is there any possibility you can skip ahead with directions for the sashing pieces? I am sure there are others who will be away on vaction or have extra time to do them. If not I can be patient...maybe:-)
