I checked out this book from the library...
which had this picture in it....(I LOVE this quilt!!!!)
...remembered that one of my quilting goals this year is to make a 2 color quilt (just looking for the right one to make)....
...had a car trip this weekend to see my mother-in-law, so I knew I would have lots of time on my hands....so I ended up with this...
I really didn't intend to get into hand applique, but I am really loving the portability of this project. It may look a little primitive when it's done, since I am a beginner, but I am enjoying it.
The quilt is going to be 36" square and I may hang in on my daughter's wall, eventually.
And the coolest thing: I am carrying the whole works around in my new Holly Hobbie tin from Linda. :)

that is a very cool project!!!
Too bad I didn't find you sooner, we could have met for coffee. It only took us 4 hours to get to Hudson... 4 lanes all the way from Green Bay. I hope you'll visit that cute quilt shop. It's great!!
Nice to meet you,
Joni (Green Bay)
That is going to be SUCH a beautiful quilt! Just lovely.
NICE! Isn't it funny, how the thing you didn't intend to do ends up being the thing that you do. I have never finished a 2 fabric quilt... (I have one that is a UFO, but one of the fabrics is a multi-colored piece - faux hand dyed print, so that may be a bit of cheating...)
That is going to be really pretty when you get done. I haven't done much hand applique. I don't know that i have the patience for it. LOL Can't wait to see this finished, it will be sweet for Abby's room.
Love the colours and the pattern. Just lovely. It's going to be beautiful and will look super as a hanging I am sure!
Hope all is well with you + the family! How's the house hunting/selling going?
Looks cute! That whole hand aplique thing....wow!! You're a brave woman!
I love the pink and white!
Someday I would like to make a Drunkard's Path in traditional blue and white, but I always procrastinate because I am afraid to attempt the curves. Someday...
i was just looking at that book at the bookstore the other night!!! they had 3 BH&G quilting books that all had one or two things in them i wanted... it's going to be lovely!! :)
Wow! That is going to be gorgeous! I completely understand the need for portable projects beyond knitting/crochet. Not sure if this one is for me though - looks really hard!
I can't wait to see it finished!
Pink! I love pink! I've been wanting to make a two color quilt too. I was thinking I'd make one for my bedroom, but pink would probably not go down well with the hubby...
That Hearts and Gizzards quilt will be lovely when it's done. Isn't that a terrible name for something so lovely?
I love that you're doing this by hand - I think the "primitive" look is so wonderful, since it speaks of the person who lovingly made the quilt.
just gorgeous!
Can't wait to see the result!
I can't wait to see the finished quilt.
