the first 5

This is the start of my first king sized quilt.
[The amount of puckers that are possible in a quilt this large scares me to no end.]

These are the first 5 of 25 blocks I will need for the quilt top. Each measures 18.5" square. I am not using a pattern, just making it up as I go along. (My favorite kind of piecing.)

The color scheme reminds me of candy corn. Hmmm.
Not quite the look I was going for, so I am anxious to see how the rest of it comes together.

It is a wonderfully rainy day here, so it makes for a guilt free quilting (and blogging) day. Hurray.

So far it looks great. Relax & go with it. Puckered quilts are still quilts! Are you going to have any outer rounds that are "dark?" (I may not know the look that you are going for, but in my mind, I like half light, half dark blocks - like a checkerboard....)

Maybe a little more red? Or some squares that are less light, medium, dark and more of one saturation? Looks good so far.

I love it and I believe I know the look you are going for. When it is all put together it will look wonderful with the white contrast!

I love the blocks! This is going to look great on grand scale of a king-sized quilt. I can't wait to see how it progresses!

I love the color combination. And I hadn't thought of candy corn either.

You're a brave woman taking on King sized, but it's going to be great. Absolutely love the colours you have chosen.

just gorgeous, I am in love with the way the colors play together. Having made a king sized quilt last year, I can tell you that there have been few more satisfying projects than that one. It makes me happy every time I see it.

I love it when it rains (sometimes - but not all of the time) because if it's nice outside I feel I need to be out there and not inside knitting!! Guilt free knitting is what I love! Your kingsize quilt looks like it's going to be great. I love the colours!

I like piecing as I go too. And I'll jump on board with you soon. I have to make a CA King size quilt for myself sometime.

I think it looks great so far!

Candy corn? No way. These square are so bright, cheery, and summery. I love the slight variations in each block.

Looking good so far! My friend, Jaime, at work would love this quilt. These are all her favorite colors! You are a brave soul taking on a king size, but I'm sure you will do fine with it! Me, I'm scared to take on even a twin size! LOL Lap size suits me just fine!

Citrus colors are really inspiring me these days. I love to sew that way too--just decide as you go. Looks wonderful!

Oh it's fabulous. I love the sunny colours. I love your approach of just "go along". I think that makes you more creative :)
