kaleidoscope quilt in progress
After working on a few projects that weren't coming together nearly easily enough, (don't you hate it when that happens?) I switched gears and pulled out my blocks from my Sew Sisters quilting bee.
I would love to think that I will make a couple blocks a week so that this quilt will eventually get finished...but I know better than to expect that. Ha! I've also been thinking that this would make a GORGEOUS king size quilt, but that might be more than a little crazy/ridiculous/insane! That also fuels my fire to want to do it!
Today, I made a new "block" using some scraps of my good neighbors fabrics! (Good neighbors is scheduled to release early September and will be available exclusively at Connecting Threads. I can't wait!)
I may be weird, but I kind of like ripping off the papers from the back. I'm saving up/looking forward to working on these the next time I'm riding in the car. :)
I'm delighted at how they look together! This is going to be one special quilt...no matter what size I end up making it. Hurray for happy quilts!

I spy a few fabrics that I have tucked away in my fabric dresser. This is going to be a fun quilt!

I love the way these blocks look with such fun fabrics! And thanks for the link to the templates. I'm confused though. Why are there regular AND reversed templates? They look the same to me.

AmandaJean, why do so many of us women dismiss our biggest undertakings as "crazy" or "insane?" I think you are on to something with the King sized kaleidoscope idea. It would be gorgeous on that scale, and the grand size would have a powerful impact. Instead of crazy or insane, I call that idea Ambitious and Inspired. Also, real artists like yourself cannot be constrained by arbitrary deadlines so even if it took you TEN years it will be done "right on time." This comes to you from someone who is paper piecing a King sized pineapple log cabin quilt at the moment (and for many, many moments to come)!

Yesterday my Connecting Threads catalog came in the mail and I anxiously perused it hoping to see your fabric. Now that I know that it will be in next month's catalog, I should give our mail carrier a heads up. I'm glad you chose to work with Connecting Threads, they are a great company to purchase quilting supplies and books. Thanks for sharing the Kaleidoscope pattern, it's one of the first patterns I made when I started quilting almost twenty years ago. It might be time to make another one.
I LOVE the look of this quilt! I too can see it as a king - but the thought of all those pieces is a bit daunting. I've got more than a few projects started that were not adding up to my vision - so I set them aside and started something new. The problem is I now have about 15 half finished quilts - some showing more promise than others. Keep going - you won't be sorry!!

It looks great so far! I love the bright, warm colors. I never thought to rip papers on a car ride... I would need to vacuum the car out afterwards. I'm terribly messy when it comes to ripping out my paper!

It's going to look fantastic! I love tearing out the papers from EPP projects, so satisfying - wouldn't fancy cleaning up your car afterwards though, haha!
I love ripping out the papers from blocks as well. I find it very therapeutic and great stress relief
I made a kite quilt once and the blocks look very much the same. Only the layout was different. I really enjoyed making those block. I make have to dig into the scrap bins and have another go.
These are fun! I just pulled out my blocks that are the same pattern this week too. Maybe we can challenge each other on this finish?
I can't get the links to work either :( my fabric is ready, willing and able to be cut and sewn !
