shady quilt top

Welcome to finish it up Friday!
I'm happy to share my newest quilt top, "shady", with you today. It started with a few leftover blocks from this quilt. (Needless to say, they have been hanging around for awhile.) More recently, I made a few low volume blocks and combined them all to make this quilt top. It was a great exploration in values. I wanted to make it HUGE, because I really love it. I refrained because this will be a class sample, so smaller is better. The blocks are 12" finished and the quilt top is 36" x 48".
I still have plenty of strings left. I organized them into rainbow order last weekend...just for fun. I really, really want to start a new quilt! Color is so inspiring!

Thanks to all of you who purchased my new pattern! I appreciate your support and wonderful feedback.

Also, a big thank you to the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild for a fun meeting last night. It was so great to meet so many of you!

Ok, now it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thanks for joining me each week. Happy Friday to you!

  8. I have so many colored log cabins made waiting for a project, I need to make some low volume ones to go with them.

Shady is fabulous. I love the contrast of the brights and low volume... it is scrap-fabulous.

  10. Love it! The contrast is so nice...like just the right squares faded when you washed it. :)

You must just be plowing thru those scraps. It's a good thing you have them so organized in your bins!

No finishes for me. Just starts. I am being really bad. I just haven't had the desire to do any sewing and then suddenly a new project hits me and all the old ones are lost in the dust. Crazy.

  12. Your quilt top is beautiful!! I really want to start a new scrap project (or finish up some scrappy wips), but I'm in the middle of a BIG blue/turquoise quilt that's got a deadline. It will yield some pretty scraps of its own, but now I'm itching for some other colors...

  18. I love it! I'm working on a quilt using the same pattern (we must have the same book - ha!), but in blues, purples and greens for a friend. I'm not sure if I like it so far, but sometimes you just need to see the blocks all together.

  24. Thank you for this idea! I have an orphan block that I didn't know what to do with although I loved the colors. Would look great alternated with lower volume fabrics to make a nice table runner! Very inspirational.
