I finished my pezzy quilt top this morning and I'm so pleased with the results! I used one layer cake of pezzy fabric (plus one scrap from teaginny. thanks Alex!) and 3 yards white Kona for the top. I added borders to make this a decent twin size, which took an additional yard of fabric.here*) I reversed the color placement in a few blocks, to add interest to the quilt top.
Tara (and copied with permission).
*the only thing i did differently from the tutorial was cut the corner blocks at 5" rather than 4 7/8". I then trimmed the pieced triangle units to 4.5". Cutting squares 5" is so much easier than cutting squares 4 7/8", and trimming helps accuracy immensely.
I can't until after the craziness of the holidays when I can get back to finishing the quilt I started!
Wow, it looks great! Was it hard to keep the direction of the ovals straight? Did you need to keep track of how you sewed the hsts or did it just work out that way by itself? I have a hard time visualizing things, so that's why I'm wondering:)
All the ovals don't go the same way, but on most blocks they do. After a few blocks I figured out a system. The first blocks that don't match....well, I decided not to let it bother me. :)
Hope that helps!
This may be THE cutest use I've seen made of the adorable Pezzies!!!! So fresh!
Oooo how I love this! It would look great in array of polka dots. :)
looks so nice
The perfect Pezzy!
Wonderful! I have a pezzy layer cake that I haven't yet decided what to do with - something like this is definitely appealing. I'd been hesitant about using white as a background, but it looks great.
It is wonderful!! The humble Churn Dash is my most favorite block. I need to pull out my Christmas Dash blocks and make some more. :)
Lovely top - well done! And so quickly too....
Very nice. I like it that you mostly have a white centre patch and "suddenly" a coloured one. Great!
Love this top...my favorite blocks are the 'rogue' opposite ones!
Nicely done and you are right so fresh and clean looking....I bet it quilts up beautifully.
Love your quilt top...so fresh and bright!
I love it, makes me want to run to my sewing space!
This just makes me so happy!
I kept checking to see if you'd finished the top yet. It looks so good!
So cute Amanda!!! The white is so crisp and the colors are so happy!
Like Cheryl said, this really makes me so happy too. I was just going to say I can't believe you are already done with the top, but then I remembered who I was commenting to. So of course I CAN believe you are done, you speed demon you.
That is really beautiful! I love the way the few reversed blocks keep my eyes looking around! As always, an inspiration!
I've had some Pezzy fabric, but couldn't figure out what to do with it - you've come up with a GREAT idea. I love this quilt, and really like the reverse blocks. Great job!
Very pretty. Cute fabric and have fun with the new machine.
Like that there are reverse blocks as well. It turned out really well. I need to take the extra time to trim down blocks.
I love it, I love it, I love it. Reversing some of the blocks was brilliant. It is so great, Amanda Jean! I hope I see it this summer!
I love it! It is so eye pleasing to look at. Great job.
Wow! That turned out great! I love making that block. So easy and so awesome!
Great quilt and I love the random switch. And how freeing to just let the first couple of blocks be...I find that so hard to do too!
Great pattern for layer cakes. There is not any other color like white! Beautiful quilt top.
Looking wonderfully bright and fresh! Those few blocks where you reversed the colours really add interest :)
Lovely cute quilts!!!
This looks great! I have an extra pezzy print layer cake and I might have to copy you on this. Just adorable.
Beautiful. I like the reversal of the print with the white on some of the blocks. Yeck ... know what you mean about those colored threads showing through on the white ... a real pesky problem. :D
It's gorgeous CrazyMom! I love that you're using your cherished fabrics too -- so far I'm hoarding mine until I don't like them anymore LOL!
Love it, girl you are a rock star! If you are able, please let us know how you like the 7700, I've been thinking of taking the plunge and would value your opinion
I already cut up my Pezzy layer cake - now I'm going to have to get another one so I can steal this idea...I love it!
I love the top it is fantastic. I love the pezzy fabric it looks like a lot of fun.
I am so in love this this Amanda Jean! It looks amazing!
Simply beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
gorgeous :D Your quilts always make me smile X
I love this quilt. I never would have thought that fabric with all the same pattern could have been this interesting. You are so talented!
I like the reversed blocks. They jumped out at me straight away. Great design feature. It's something I have never tried.
one of my fav pezzy quilts I've seen - very fun!
Question: Do you have any washing concerns with all the white fabric? ie:color bleeding? If so, what are some solution or strategies...thanks!
Eww, I never cut 7/8" if I can help it. I always do my HSTs as you describe: cut at 5" and trim to 4.5". Definitely helps with the neatness factor.
I love this. Makes me feel all happy and energised!
