a weird day

i'm having a very weird day today.

it started with my daughter sleeping until 9:45, so right off the bat, i had about 2 hours of time to myself. that's unheard of. it was really really nice.

then, out of the blue i had the urge to bake a chocolate cake. i don't care for cake. chocolate cake would be my least favorite of all cakes, so that really really threw me off. i think i'll blame it on katie. :) (i'm baking one using this recipe.) it's all working out, though, because my brother is coming tonight and will be babysitting my kids AND it's his birthday tomorrow, so i guess my gut feeling was timely. hurray for that!

today i was getting serious about finishing my wips. for the first time in months, i have no flimsies (quilt tops completed, but waiting for the quilting) in the house. not even a doll quilt! i can't remember the last time that happened.

i made two quilt backs and basted two quilts this morning. and i'm not planning to stipple either one.

see, i told you i was having a weird day.

  8. I really need to start using the term, "flimsies." I teach a quilting class, mind if I nab it? I think it's awesome. That, and "this is my seam ripper. His name is Jack."

  13. MMM, I love chocolate cake! I can't wait to see those quilts opened up too. The one on the bottom looks like it would go well with your Bento Box quilt. Happy quilting! I have to finish cutting out (yuck) the fabrics for a mystery quilt class tomorrow. Hope I get that done in time!

  20. I can't believe she slept in that long! That must have been sooo nice. Unheard of. I'm happy if the two youngest sleep until 8 a.m., but 9:45??? I would have kept checking on her to make sure she was okay, which would have woken her up!

That one quilt reminds me of the Redskins colors. (My BIL is a huge fan.)

  21. So, if you do not stipple, what will you do? Feathers, echoes, . .. . . share, share, share!

Those are the best days... almost as though someone else was guiding you on your way... and hey, if you end up with a chocolate cake out of it, it can't be all that bad!! Keep up the great work... Lx

  27. I'd love to know what colour thread you're going to use on your red and white quilt. (I'm assuming you're stippling.) I'm in the throws of a red and white and deciding on the cotton colour is really throwing me.
I love your blog amandajean - it's been such an inspiration to me!

  34. Have you seen a doctor? The urge to do weird things is very serious. Can I have a piece of the chocolate cake?

  35. I'm with the rest of them....No stippling? But! You are the Queen of Stippling! No one stipples like you! So...if you're not stippling...then what? Are you going to teach us, and by us, I mean me, something new? Have a great weekend! Thanks for the laughs today!

  36. Oh, I love productive days like that! Although I would say productivity is pretty normal around your house. Those extra couple of hours you got in the morning, though? Weird and wonderful!
