  3. DS fabric? Hmmm... off to pull out and dust off her book. Whatever you choose it will be fabulous as usual. The left-over scraps will make super cute fabric front notecards too.

  4. Have you checked out quilterscache.com? It's got a huge collection of blocks that have given me tons of ideas. I'm using 30s repro fabric and using different blocks for the entire thing. It will take longer, but I get to experiment and learns lots!

  5. I'm waiting for some inspiration too. Hopefully you'll come up with something and inspire me. Or maybe I'll come up with something and inspire you! LOL Not likely.

  6. How about doing a bento-box-quilt. Nice, lovely and going fast.

  8. Mmmmm - I want a piece, Chocolate cake is my favorite!

I've thought about Amy Butler's Thea's Puzzle Quilt (free pattern) as a way to show off a fabric line.

  9. I feel a picnic blanket. Maybe large simple squares set on the diagonal? Those colors make me want to lay outside under a tree and take off my shoes.

  10. That might make a cute single girl ring quilt...you know that Denise Schmidt design. I'm not even close on the name am I?

  11. I think this is a cute design, do you?

  12. Have you seen Denyse Schmidt's "single girl" quilt pattern?? It's so neat!!!

  13. I'm seeing hexagons with those fabrics! And I'm glad the cake was good...so sorry if my question was rude yesterday, it just got me excited...reminiscent of my nesting days!

  14. Have you seen Alicia Paulson's market bag pattern?

  15. How about a Prairie quilt? There's a quilting page I check out, quiltingboards.com (as a lurker, so far) and they've got some great ideas. Me, I've made a big and small coin quilt and I'm hand quilting them. :o) (I'm not a huge fan of piecing usually, but I love quilting!)

  16. Oh girl, DS is nice, but you need to break free!
But if you really want, how about circles? (You knew I had to say it) Or half square triangles?

    ReplyDelete
  17. That’s the other way around, you’re always the one with the inspiration!!

Well, if I had a stash of DS fabrics like that (I have some of them) I would consider to make some kind of mod sampler quilt. Modern happy blocks, all sorts of them. I love phinweels, but they are more traditional. Or a prisma quilt, a improv quilt, a happy hour quilt. Lots of ideas!

    ReplyDelete
  18. i'm thinking dresden plate...a traditional pattern with modern, funky fabrics...would be really cool.

    ReplyDelete
  19. ok...another idea just came to me...one i have on my list of quilts to make...what about wonky stars in different sizes...would be sooo great in those fabrics. a twinkle quilt. (that fabric inspires me so much...)

  20. I say, Eat more chocolate cake, that's bound to bring on some ideas....

    woo hoo!

I see a field of flowers (pink and orange) bordering the ocean (blues and greens)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ummm, how about you don't get any inspiration and you let me buy all of it from you for my quilt? ;0) Great idea, no?

    ReplyDelete
  23. my vote is...
    maverick stars.

i think these fabrics would make the cutest maverick stars quilt EVER.

on top of that...the blocks are WAY easy to piece and have an improv look to them.

  24. Some kind of coin quilt? Those fabrics deserve showing off.

  25. Make something unlike you have ever done before.

I'm currently making a quilt using half hexagons which can be machine stitched together to create a super quick hexagon quilt.
You can see how it's going so far at

  27. i would not know where to start for ideas...you are always the one i come to when i need inspiration

  28. Could be very cute in a Boston Commons pattern. Not too many of them on flickr but here's one example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/byathread/3297530492/
Time for me to get back to making nine patches...can't wait to see what you come up with!

  29. How about a Grandmother's Flower Garden! Not so quick...but I'm very much into those right now. :o) Can't wait to see what you come up with!

  30. I'm going to be of absolutely no help because I've got not a single solitary suggestion but I love those dots! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. What about a quilt about summer fruits? You've got pink (strawberries), orange (peaches or oranges), blue (blueberries), green (pears), not sure how big you would want them - but it sure would be cute!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Get some white for block cemters and do color family nine patches with the pink, orange, blue and green with white centers. Put white sashing in between blocks and white borders. Oh that quilt that is so easily found all over the web. I think the fabrics here lend themselves to that.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If you wait long enough the fabric will 'talk' to you, fabric has a funny way of doing that and then low and behold you will create something just perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Pinwheels!!!! I am in love with them.
    http://juliespp.blogspot.com/2009/03/pinwheel-quilt-completed.html

    ReplyDelete
  35. I made my quilt with those fabrics before the nice pinks were released and I did large pinwheel blocks, I love it but it's not quilted yet.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Don't tell me you don't have a fabulous idea or two hidden away in that brilliant patchwork brain of yours.
My suggestions would pale in comparison.
Looking forward to seeing what comes.
    Andi :-)

  37. Hmmm...all frsh out of ideas but I'm sure if you keep staring at the fabric long enough something will jump out at you! Its a great selection x

    ReplyDelete
  38. How about a Whirligig quilt? I made one all in pinks. That pile of yummy fabrics would be prefect.

    ReplyDelete
  39. They would be great for the Mod Sampler quilt here http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/ -- the one that is my saltwater taffy quilt. Of course, they would be great in anything. = )

    ReplyDelete
  40. Not that i'm a big fan of the cutting at the moment, but this fabric would look fantastic in the Hip To Be Square pattern. ...or pinwheels...hourglasses...disappearing 9-patch... Really, how could you go wrong with this fabric??

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have that same stack in my cupboard, also waiting for inspiration. I'm almost thinking rainbow stripes? Can't wait to see what you do with them xo

    ReplyDelete
  42. I found a cute strippy block tutorial here
    http://rachel-griffith.blogspot.com/2009/05/block-o-strings-tutorial.html
which I think would be great if you have lots of colors... better for scraps though maybe ?!

  43. How about giving Single Girl a try. and let us watch! Its intimidating and it would be nice to see you "go first"! No matter, with that fabric, you wont go wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hmmm. Watch this space. I have no suggestions, but I know whatever you make, it will be fantastic!

  45. I just attended a "Mystery Quilt" class last night and it turned out we made a quilt from Turning Twenty Again. It uses 20 fat quaters and is so fun and fast and EASY! I finished most of the quilt between 4pm and midnight. I think your fabrics would be great in a quilt like that. Of course, all the cutting was done in advance of the class, but the cutting was fairly easy. Just a suggestion. I always love the quilts you make so I am sure whatever you do will be AWESOME!

  46. I loved the idea of the wonky star quilt or anything to use as a picnic quilt would be great with those fabrics. Whatever you do we'll all love it and be jealous.

  49. random question: the post where you made boxes for your entry way, how did you made those. I saw your smaller box tutoral, but i am interested to see how you made them with the quilting

You always have the best fabric. So yummy!!

  50. Kaffee Fasset has interesting and different patterns. So does Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Treasures. I'm looking at a hexagon type quilt. Betty

  52. I think the brown and pink would make a great Granmother's Garden quilt.

I wanted to leave a comment to tell you that I just love your Swell Quilt and your Christmas charm quilt. I can't believe how prolific you are! I am really going to have to learn to quilt!

  53. My immediate thought was Dresden plates to mix all those gorgeous colours together...
or a bullseye or a circle quilt like this

  54. Amanda Jean,
I have been thinking of you every time I look at my new issue of Quilts and more. There are at least three quilts in it I know you would enjoy doing and could pop out quickly. If you don't have the issue, email me and I can send the patterns to ya.

  55. I am super excited because I bought the book "Weekend Sewing" and made my first project this weeked. I love the book! I made the wrap skirt and it's great. I was also going to make the Everything Bag, bought the 1/2 yard it requires but then when I laid the pattern piece on it for the body of the bag but the pattern piece is wider than 1/2 a yard so it won't fit. Anyone else have this problem? What did you do?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I love the pink! Thanks for the tutorial links. Quick projects are so satisfying. I'm making a 2nd coin quilt right now just for the very reason. Enjoy your week.

  61. I've got the exact same stack of fabric in my sewing room, waiting for inspiration to strike. I just love it so much that I don't want to cut into it! (Now isn't that silly!!) I have designed 3 or 4 quilts to make out of it, and none has actually happened. It must be the PERFECT pattern!!

Can't wait to hear what you decide....

Just found your blog and I am digging it.....
