a tiny little zip pouch

I made this little zip pouch (with a clear vinyl front)...

for my little one's hair ties...

and here is the back.

I used binding strips to cover the raw edges....

and it serves it's purpose pretty well.
I love how the hair ties match the fabric.

Sewing with the clear vinyl was pretty tricky. You can't just pin the fabric to the vinyl, so the pouch doesn't lay flat, (it kinda curls up) but it was a fun little experiment. I have lots of clear vinyl left, so I'm going to have to try it again on another project.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my patchwork obsession posts. I have a list of many more things I want to make for the series. Thanks for cheering me on. Y'all are the best.

Your pouch looks cute, I love the number fabric. I've had good luck using the vinyl as a big window and then having fabric to sew into seams and zippers...

Love the pouch!

I have wanted to try sewing with clear vinyl, but it sort of scares me... I am not sure how my machine will handle it. Is it tough to sew through at all or fairly easy to sew through?

I've jumped in and sewn with some of that clear vinyl recently. You're right, it is tricky. I'm determined to get the hang of it, cause I love the possible uses.

Love this little pouch! The fabric is perfect - of course! :) Vinyl is tricky...I've tried using tissue paper with it, but what a pain! Mini binder clips work good instead of pins for larger things, but probably not for a little bag.

What a brilliant idea - we have hair bands scattered all over the house ...

Very pretty! I know what you mean about how it can be tricky sewing with clear vinyl. One thing to add to your comments about not pinning it - make sure your stitch length isn't too short, otherwise you increase the chance of the vinyl just tearing out because the stitching has perforated the vinyl.

This is a fantastic idea!

This is cute. Little A will wish you didn't have all the binders in the same place...too many opportunities to have her hair in a ponytail.
