This quilt is my newest WIP, which is made from solid scraps. It was definitely pre-meditated. I have been planning this quilt for months! The blocks measure 6" x 10" unfinished and are foundation pieced onto phone book paper. I've been having a lot of fun with it! I have 44 out of 88 blocks complete. Feels great to be half way there! My sister and a good friend of mine both commented about the riot of color. Apparently it is a LITTLE much for their liking. As for me, I love all the color. I can already imagine it all quilted up!
I posted this photo on Instagram the other day, but I thought I should share it here, too. A few weeks ago we got not one-but two-puppies! It took at least 5 years for my kids (and husband!) to wear me down. Lucy, on the left, is a Schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle mix) and Gigi, on the right, is a Cavapoo (King Charles Cavalier/poodle mix). We are finally settling into a routine and I get to sleep through the night again. (Hurray for that!) They sure are a lot like kids. It's a good thing they are cute! Ha!
Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a great start!

I L-O-V-E your newest WIP. Not too much color for this gal. Can't wait to see how it gets quilted.
Congratulations on the two new pups--yes they are cute and I already see a color inspiration-Mocha and Latte. I think my WIP list is longer than yours, they keep adding up.
Love both of your new projects....and the quilt ;)
Rarely is there too much color and that looks about right
You are a bad influence! Now I want to do a scrappy strip quilt. Love the doggy photo, too. We have two toy poodles, so not exactly like your two puppies. They are so much fun!
No such thing as too much color. Love it! Also, I'm going to recycle my old phone books for scrap string quilts. Love the pups! As the "Mom" of 2 doodles you can't go wrong with poodle mixes. No shedding and, hopefully hybrid vigor๐
I love the picture of the puppies, so cute. The quilt is cute too. ๐
Gorgeous blocks - great colors!
The quilt looks great ... as do the pups.
The colour in those blocks is amazing, I love them. As for your puppies , they are adorable cuties. My son is trying to twist me round his finger to get a new puppy but one dog and one cat is enough for me
I love the riot of color and look forward to seeing it finished and quilted. :) And congratulations on getting into a rhythm with puppies.
That is a great start on a riotous quilt......if only I had more solids. I'll be working on fixing that little problem! :)
You always inspire me with your solid scrappy quilts. I need to use more so I can have enough for a scrap quilt. I love your puppies! Such cute mixes!
You can never have too much color. I like your new top.
Love the quilt (and the puppies). The quilt concept would be great in something tonal/monochromatic or with a more limited palate too.
Adorable! We have two Mini Golden Doodles, but they are not very mini at 45 and 50 lbs. But the sire was a Mini Poodle, so technically it's true. LOL. Right now we are babysitting my nephew dogs, of which one is a Cockapoo. I am 6 years out from puppy training!! And I am wondering if some terrier wasn't mixed in to this one!! But he is a cutie, as are your pups.
3 beautiful works in progres!
Have fun with the pups.
me again--- SOMEday I will count my WIPs.
It doesn't help any when I start 3 new ones in as many days...good luck with yours.
Ooh, I LOVE your bright solid scrappy WIP! It looks like a painting in a modern art museum. Gorgeous! Congratulations on your puppies, too. I have two dogs, too, raised from puppies. They are worth ALL the bother, all the fur all over the place, times a hundred!
I love all that color in your scrappy quilt blocks. Your puppies are adorable. Happy sewing.
What a gorgeous WIP! I love the movement the block design creates!! Look forward to seeing her all quilted up!
I love this! It is a riot of color - a glorious, spectacular one. I look forward to seeing this one finished.
I love your new quilt!! Can't wait to see it finished!
What qualifies as a WIP? Does fabric have to be cut or just picked out or a pattern bought? Or does piecing have to actually have happened? Just curious. I love all the colors in your strippy blocks, by the way.
Congrats on your new babies! They are adorable and will bring you many years of great joy (just exactly like kids in so many ways!)
I love the new colour riot!!
Love your blog! Getting two puppies together is the way to go, I think!
We tried it with one (standard poodle, very active) and she was too much for us. We ended up getting a slightly older standard (a year and a half), so that the puppy could play with another dog, and that has worked out great.
I loooove all the color! What a great way to use up a bunch of scraps.
It's funny how we're all so different. I have three quilts in process (all three baby size) and it's making me nervous! I am a two-at-the-most quilter as far as piecing/quilting goes. I've got three baby quilts to bind once the weather gets cooler here in Texas. If I had 14 ???? Well, I'm not sure what I'd do! I love your abundance of color!!!
I'm with you, I LOVE all that color! The pups are adorable, we just got 2 new kittens.
I agree - can't have too much color for me!!!! Love the Bias Quilt.
My favorite things: strings & solids! Can't wait to see the whole thing! WOW!
And the puppies, just too too cute. I want to snuggle them.
I like bright and colorful, too! And those puppies are so CUTE!
Oh these puppies are so adorable--we had always had dogs when young marrieds...but now we haven't--miss those puppy hugs...they are sweet hugs, Julierose
I love nothing better than a quilt which is just a riot of colour!! Yours fits the bill. Your two little puppies are adorable, now what names have you given them?
No such thing as too much colour!
I think your new quilt is going to be wonderful! Colors would fit right in here in Mexico -- like you, I love color! Congratulations on the new puppies. Looks like they have become best buddies already.
Hi Amanda, I saw your School House session at the Savannah QuiltCon. I was there promoting my new book. You impressed me with your calm demeanor and genuine appeal. I love your book, too! I remember thinking..."Will I ever feel as comfortable speaking in front of a crowd as Amanda?"
Your quilt looks like a piece of art. I love it!! Congrats on the puppies! They are adorable!!!
I love to much your so coloured WIP!
It's really original and happy :)
The bias quilt immediately had me thinking of grass swaying in the breeze. Maybe on the prairie where the flowers are also a riot of color. "Phone book paper," now there's a phrase we don't hear very often.
Hmmm, is getting two puppies a bit like having twins? Your two look so innocent and calm. I can tell they are wondering about how that paper thingy on the floor works and food arrives in their bowls like magic. And why is it that the fun humans who love to play are gone all day long? Where do they go? There's lots to contemplate when you're just a puppy.
I absolutely LOVE this! The "riot" of color is superb! I can't wait to watch your progress on this. Really fantastic!
Hi Amanda,
I love the WIP you shared. All the colors are so vibrant, and you rarely see only solids in a quilt. I'm with you and love all the colors. You new puppies are SO cute, and it looks like they get along well. ~smile~ Roseanne
Really like all the colours too. I will look forward to seeing the layout options when you have all your blocks made.
Been sewing all day and finished one project. Would be good to get several more done but, I could always start a new one.
I love the picture of the puppies, so cute. The quilt is cute too. ๐

You'll wonder how on earth you ever got along without them not to mention the endless photo opportunities!
Personally I love the riot of color and can't wait to see even more blocks added. Keep going!
