WIP Wednesday-slow going

It seems like everything that I'm working on these days is a LONG term project. It's slow going, but at least things are coming along! I guess the upside of showing progress pictures is that it keeps things real. No magic wands to wave to get the WIPs finished. (Oh, boy, wouldn't that be nice???)
I'm pleased that the top section of my bruiser quilt is pieced together! Those half square triangles finish at 1 1/2"! Tedious, to be sure, but they are so cute they are worth it. You can see more of the quilt in this post, if you care to. The pattern is called All Sizes, and it's in my new book, which is scheduled to be released in 19 days....woohoo!)
It's been awhile since I showed progress on my sweater. The body of the sweater is finished and I started on the right sleeve. It fits great, which is quite a relief. I'm beyond excited to see it taking shape! The pattern is called Harvest (it's free!) by Tin Can Knits. The yarn is Madelintosh Vintage in the color Fog.
I'm still plugging away at hand quilting my "dot your i's" quilt. (More details in these two posts.) I'm over half done quilting the squircles now, so I'm hoping that being beyond the half way point is extra motivation to get it done! I'm trying to work on a few each day. The edges were all quilted, so I was able to add the binding before I finished the quilting of the squircles. I'm so glad I did things in that order, or I can only imagine how ragged the edges would be by now. It's been nice to use this quilt, too, even though it isn't officially finished yet. That's hardly cheating, right? :)

  1. Your Bruiser quilt is going to be fabulous. I can hardly wait to get my hands on your book!! Your sweater is lovely. Actually I have knit a couple of sweaters. Yet socks scare me to pieces. Go figure. Your hand quilting on the squircles quilt is going to be so worthwhile.

  5. Oh, I understand where you're at! I decided that I'd dig into my large bin of strips and start cutting for a proper log cabin quilt. A queen size? Sure, why not! I spent this past weekend pressing strips and cutting stacks and stacks of strips...and barely made a dent! I'm just embracing the process. (right? right!)

  7. It is so nice to have a few (right!) different projects going on at once, I think. We can hop from one to the other as we feel like. Loving the projects. I do have a sweater where the body is done and half the left sleeve is done. However, I stopped it two years ago when I started my Master's degree and am afraid I won't know how to continue it! Ai ai ai...

  8. It was fun to see what you have in progress. Right now all my projects are fairly long term, and it was a little disappointing that I didn't have any finishes in January, but February will be different! I was inspired by your squircles to do a "squircle a day" for the year, using fabrics from the scrap buckets. The plan is to use each fabric only once, so that would be 365 background fabrics and 365 squircles = 730 fabrics. I'm looking forward to your new book. The table of contents preview pages show that you have some wonderful scrap projects included!

  9. This post is a spot of sunshine in my winter day. I love the sweater. The color is coming out even and well distributed. I love the little HSTs. I would say, "I'll never do that," but you're my friend and I've been known to drink from the same Kool-Aid pitcher. :)

  14. Yay! Two more weeks until your book releases. That is so exciting.
Tiny HST's - those are exciting too. More exciting for me to watch you make them than for me to make them! :-)
