I'm so happy to be done with this quilt top...finally! It was started in
April of 2015 at a Denyse Schmidt workshop, and I don't think I had touched it since....except to steal scraps from the bag for other projects. (ha!) I was pleased to discover that I still like the quilt after all this time. The top measures 60" x 75". Rather than rush through and finish, I think I'm going to let this one marinate for awhile. I need to decide on a backing and who knows, I may even send this one out to get quilted. I do love the 3 little blocks mixed in with the rest. You know me, I've gotta put a scrappy twist on the quilt somehow! :)
So pretty! Orange is my stepsons favorite color, he would be going nuts over your quilt!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, this is way too cute! Maybe my favorite 'halloween' quilt I've seen! Those little blocks really make it special. Thanks for sharing (and always being awesome!)

ReplyDeletethose littlies are my favorite part. such a striking quilt.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. I laughed out loud about stealing scraps from yourself!
ReplyDeleteNice! I don't see those three little blocks as 'scrappy' but as genius in the design execution. Can't wait to see how you have it quilted and what you use for the backing.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I think I remember this one! it looks really really great!
ReplyDeleteVery fun and bright!

I love orange too. Such a bold embrace of the color. I agree; the 3 little blocks really add character to the quilt.
ReplyDeleteLook at all these quilt tops you're churning out!
ReplyDeleteThis one is cool. I'd have thought that I wouldn't like an orange / orange quilt, but nope, I find I love it! A lot! Those three little blocks make the quilt. How fun!
ReplyDeleteThe 3 little blocks are a perfect addition. Great looking quilt.
ReplyDeleteSuper fun. Yay for sticking with it!
ReplyDeleteI love the little blocks mixed in with the full sized ones too! That was my first thought! Great job on the finish.
ReplyDeleteOh, what appetizing color! Such blanket is the best means from autumn depression!!! Super!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeously juicy and happy. If it were mine, I'd be irresistibly drawn to a black and white spot backing and binding. But that's just me!
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt! Adore the tiny blocks...what an add!! Really does make a difference. :)
ReplyDeleteDelightful! Orange is right up there on my list of favorite colors!
ReplyDeleteYou have to name it Marmalade! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this! I can't wait to see what you come up with for the back. And those 3 little blocks are my favorite part. :)
ReplyDeleteorange you glad you got this one pieced?
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with a little marination. :)
I love this quilt, and I'm really not fond of orange! The 3 smaller stars are prefect to break up the larger stars and keep your eye moving around the quilt. Another winner.
ReplyDeleteThis certainly is orange. :) A fave color of mine. Awesome job. I'm sure the right quilting will make this quilt shine brighter.

ReplyDeleteOrange, orange, orange, very yummy. Love the top. And those personalized small blocks just put the icing on it.
ReplyDeleteI always say Orange is my middle name so it was so delightful to open your blog page and see this oh so fabulous orange quilt. And yes, the little blocks really make it sparkle.
ReplyDeleteI love orange too. Most people avoid it, but it's an energy kick for me. Love your quilt and the addition of the small blocks.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy seeing the quilts you make, but this one is just amazingly fun. I love orange; it just adds so much energy and fun! Those little blocks in the midst of the biggies are really fun too. Thanks for sharing! Wendy at piecefulthoughts@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI think this quilt is so adorable. The orange color makes me feel so happy. I love it!
ReplyDeletei thought it looked like a Denyse -inspired quilt! I have a top of my own from own of her classes to finish up too. I love this in the orange & especially love those little blocks thrown in - really great.
ReplyDeleteThose three little blocks mixed in with the big blocks make the whole quilt so much more interesting! They really liven it up :)
ReplyDeleteReally really really really like the color combo!
ReplyDeleteLove! Love! Love!
ReplyDeleteThis improv workshop is where I first met you, Amanda Jean! All of my orange blocks are still sitting in my WIP pile (ironically, you and I showed up at the workshop with fabrics in the same orange color palette). This WIP has been stashed away for months because I was having trouble with placement of the blocks, but you have now re-inspired me. Thank you! You have such a keen eye for design and placement. I can't wait to see it when you're finished!
ReplyDeleteWonderful and fun from top to bottom!
ReplyDeleteI love how happy and vibrant this quilt is! Can't wait to see what you use for the backing :)
ReplyDeleteOf course you know I love orange as well. The smaller blocks are such a great addition--I'm going to remember that one. :)
ReplyDeleteI think those three small twirlers make this quilt so very very interesting. Great design call!
ReplyDeleteI don't like orange. . . or at least I didn't think I did, until I saw your quilt. It's terrific!
ReplyDeleteWow! Orange ist far from being my favourite colour, but... wow! This quilt top looks a-maz-ing! <3
ReplyDeleteEspecially now, with all the greying colours in front of my window, it looks so warm and lovely.
The scrappy blocks are a great idea, too!
Best,
Sabrina
If I had this quilt I might have to drag it with me everywhere, because it just makes me happy to look at it! What a lovely antidepressant as well as a warm snuggle. The three small blocks just make the design, along with the wonky blades of the pinwheels and the two cheery colors.
ReplyDeleteI like orange, too! My next project is orange and indigo.
ReplyDeleteI love this! The pattern is awesome. And it's orange!!!
ReplyDeleteit's beautiful, amanda! my quilt made from a similar workshop is one of my very favorites. i know you will find the perfect backing/quilting combo that will make this shine even more!
ReplyDeleteI would love this AS the backing on a quilt! Is that weird? I think it'd be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIt is an amazing work of art I could stare at for a long time!
