Even though some of this fabric is pretty old, there is still some Hope Valley and Chicopee prints available (at normal prices!) at Cia's Palette. There are plenty of other old goodies there, too! Sorry to be a fabric enabler... :)

I love how scrappiness can include even the "ugly" fabrics and make them beautiful!!

Love your scrappy quilt. I noticed near the top of your picture where a few of your darker fabrics are, there is even a pinwheel formed. Cool.
ReplyDeleteyour quilt is coming along beautifully. I thought it interesting what you said about the fabrics looking better together. I had a similar experience with Jen Kingwell's Gardenvale. I was quite disappointed when my fabric arrived by mail but as I started putting the blocks together the fabric started to 'glow'. You can have a look at what I am talking about here if you like although the design wall pic doesn't really show the 'glow'. Hopefully I can do it justice when I get the quilting finished

ReplyDeleteI love DS fabrics and had been collecting them for quite awhile. I finally cut into them and made a queen sized quilt, but have lots left. I might just have to do this too.

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! My guild had an Ugly Fat Quarter challenge last year. The FQ's were put into brown bags, if you brought one you took a bag. I used that ugly FQ (really ugly) in a quilt like yours. It's my favorite quilt. It's time I looked for more uglies in my stash and magpie another. Thank you for the inspiration!t

ReplyDeletemagenta and citron are great together. i find myself grabbing for those colors all of the time. there is something they do when together that makes all the other colors sing! love your quilt, amanda! can't wait to see it finished. xo.

ReplyDeleteI love the quilt and was wondering why you cut the squares into triangles first instead of making HST's and then sewing the HST's to make the four HST's in the block?
