Welcome to finish it up Friday!
I've had two empty embroidery hoops (found and purchased at a local thrift store) hanging on my sewing room wall for months. Yesterday, I finally filled one and I love it so! I'm guessing that hoop art is on it's way out, because if I've made one, that is a sure sign. Ha! But, to quote my daughter, "it don't matter!" I love the low volume scrappy patchwork paired with hand quilting and dense machine quilting. Since I am lacking in the embroidery skills department, (it's true!) I free-motion quilted the words instead. It was so much faster and I had better results. I love this project so much!!! It's hanging on my sewing room wall and it is scrap project #114.
It was so fun to try something new! That being said, I have a feeling that next week I'll be back to pincushions! :)
Now it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!
Oh my goodness, that is so fantastic!!! I have a 4 embroidery hoop set in my drawer that I totally didn't know what to do with (not much of a stitcher) and you have totally inspired me to pull them out and fill them up!! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's gorgeous and what a wonderful way to use up your low volume scraps. Your free motion quilting is fabulous, mine is horribly wobbly!!
ReplyDeletethat is really cute - love it. My daughter did a needle point for me that she put in a hoop and I have hanging on the wall but I hadn't thought to do one with a small quilt
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Precious little quilt and wall decor! derussell22@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect! What a sweet and wonderful project...I may need to make one! Love the low volume!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great hoop art project. Your fmqing of the words is amazing!! Wouldn't they make great inexpensive gifts!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love this. Such as great idea for using scraps!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! And such a good reminder for each day. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! You free motioned that embroidery?? I'm so impressed. I'm not a great embroiderer, but I'd have to do mine by hand because I'd never be able to do the free motion as beautifully as you did yours! Just lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteI think hoop art is pretty big! I love that yours is quilted, which adds so much more dimension. I also love the message amidst the calming neutral scaps. Great idea to free motion quilt the words = faster!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Love the effect of low volume patchwork. Also love the pincushion in the corner! Thank you for sharing so much of your craft with us.

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! And yes, I still have some hoop art, and agree with your daughter--it don't matter!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! My motto is something like that, " Be Positive or BE QUIET!" I may have to stitch that too!
ReplyDeleteI would totally FMQ the words, too. It is so cute and what a great piece to hang in your sewing space. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to FMQ the words instead, never would have thought of that!
ReplyDeleteLove this, especially your hand-quilting around the little motto! What a special little wall-hanging!

Your hoop art is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI really like checking your blog and seeing all the neat things that you come up with to make out of scraps....especially these low volume projects !
ReplyDeleteBut I DO NOT LIKE the pop-up advertisement that redirects me to an advertiser's page and won't bring me back ! I hope you decide to remove this, or I will miss your blog very much !
Your hoop sat - a fantastic idea and ideal as a gift for birthday or Christmas. I think I may use your idea, if I may, for two soon to be birthdays!
ReplyDeleteLove the texture and the low volume fabrics in this quilt. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI don't think hoop art will ever go out of style! This is a great little project!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous. I really don't think hoop art is on its way out. I think it is enjoying a resurgence. And I also can't believe you FMQ'd those words. Beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI'm positive that it's adorable. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteLove the soft look of the low volume fabrics plus a bit of hand stitching!
ReplyDeleteLove the hoop. Who cares what trends are. Make what makes your heart happy.
ReplyDeleteI really like how that looks. It's different from what I've seen before.
ReplyDeleteOk . . . why have I never thought of putting a quilt into a hoop as a finished piece? Love the idea.
