fig tree scrap giveaway

First off, thanks for all the fabric love in my last post! I'm so excited about it and I appreciate your kind response and excitement more than I can say!

Well, believe it or not, I THINK I have too many scraps! I can almost hear a collective "What??!"
As much as I would like to be able to sew them all, it's just not realistic. My craft room is getting crowded, so I'm putting these up for adoption. Most, if not all, of these scraps are from various lines by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda. If you would like a chance to win these scraps, please leave me a comment in this post. In your comment, I'd love to hear what is on the top of your bucket list (quilted or non-quilt related is great!) OR what is one thing that you would do if you knew you wouldn't fail? (I'm turning 40 later this year, thus the introspective questions!) It's so much fun to read your responses!

The scrap drawing will be open to the US only, due to shipping costs. Since I don't want to leave out my international readers, this will be a dual giveaway. For the international readers, I will pick one winner as well. For that winner, I'd be happy to send any 5 (of my) PDF patterns of their choice.

I'll pick winners later this week!

Happy Monday to you!

Good morning. I have one quilt that I want to make - just for me. It's the Mountain Mist iris quilt from years back. I have the background and the green chosen so all I need is the time.

If I knew I would be successful, I would try sky diving. It would be a thrill to have the experience of being like a bird for a few minutes.

i have lots of quilting goals.. on the top of that bucket list: i'd love to sew a double wedding ring quilt some day. the idea terrifies me! but i hope to try at some point :D i'm in canada!

At the top of my bucket list is taking my motorcycle on the dragon's tail, which has 318 curves in 11 miles!! :) Quilt-wise, there are so many quilts I long to make, and I'm always adding more to the list.

I am brand new to quilting. My 11 year old daughter and I are learning together. it has been so much fun! She started paper piecing and I couldn't believe the cute blocks she made from little pieces of fabric. She's teaching me! For goals, it will be getting enough courage to machine quilt the first pieced top I sewed together.

For my quilting bucket list, I would love to make a Single Girl quilt. I just haven't working up the nerve to tackle something so curvy yet! And for the real world bucket list, I would love to go to New Zealand. I've already done skydiving and ziplining, now I want to travel! Thanks for the giveaway!

Mac said...

At the top of my bucket list is a trip to New Zealand (from New York City), which I've made as my goal for my 50th birthday. That gives me 4 years to plan and save up. And if I knew I wouldn't fail, I'd leave my current career and start writing novels. Thank you for the giveaway!

I would love to go on a hut to hut hiking trip through Austria or Italy! I just returned from an amazing quilt retreat, took a class from Jean Wells. Boy, does she use small pieces in her quilts!

The top of my list right now is cording ting retro camping themed quilts for my 2 yr old twin boys "big boy" beds. They started out as little lap blankets but by the time I got them cut, factored in a mover cross country, and a new baby they are now being in large to twin sizes so by the time I finish them they won't be too small, again.
If I could do something and know I wouldn't fail I would open a buisness. Basically anything creative. A cute shop, a fabric store, a camp ground, you name it I have drawn up fake buisness plans in mind.

Andrea R said...

Top of my bucket list is a lone star quilt, a big one. Dunno if I'll ever get to it tho.

What would I do if I thought I wouldn't fail? Well,,, I'm kinda doing it. ;) I have asked this thing of myself quite a bit and before many new opportunities, I ask myself "Am I only wanting to say no because this is scary?". Then I know I should say yes.

I did have a business at one point that could be considered a failure, but it wasn't because of all the things I learned. Cheaper than an MBA, that was. ;)

Also I just turned 45. the 40's are *awesome*!

What a generous giveaway! Fig Tree is my favorite! My fantasy is to be able to long arm quilt. There is a space issue, a cost issue and then there is the question of whether I would actually be able to do it or not!!

Lynda said...

If I thought I could do it, I would climb machu piccu in peru. Quilting wise, I would just love to have my machine out of the shop so I could sew....need me a back-up machine!

well...finishing all my UFO's of course! What I'd really love to do is see a wild tiger from the back of an elephant... I'm going to have to convince hubby and loose weight or I wont be able to get onto the poor elly!!

Ida from Central PA said...

I have drafted reproduction of a quilt that was made in the 1860's. That is first on my WIP.

What would I do if I knew I wouldn't fail?! <*laugh*> Honestly, I've been encouraged by a quiltbook author to turn those drafts into a quilt-book myself.

If I thought I could do it, and that it would be picked up by a publisher, and actually be published ... I'd go full-steam forward into changing my hand-drawn drafts into something publishing/print-worthy.

I've actually been working on my bucket list since January when I nearly died from Pulmonary Emboli. It sounds bad but I feel like I've been given a second chance at life. I want to do the #TimberQAL on Instagram and join swaps all winter long and join our local quilt guild which I'm attending on May 21st. I also just ordered the book and paper pieces for Millefiori LaPassaglia since I'm too I'll to machine sew right now and cannot have only cross-stitching. I need sewing like a vampire needs blood. Your scraps would go into my Millefiori quilt. It's going to be vibrant and alive. And I would so appreciate them.

On my bucket list: A trip to Italy (the Vatican in particular), a trip to Ireland, and finding a way to surprise my husband with one of them. I'd love to be able to hand him a plane ticket and tell him we're all booked for a trip.

I have a rather healthy stash and WIPs that need attention. Love those Fig Tree fabrics, but this Aussie girl will gladly accept some of your patterns. Thanks for the giveaway.

I'm working on a New York beauty which has been on my bucket list for ages. Next on the list is a cathedral windows cushion. I think a whole quilt is too ambitious.

I have a dozen or so large quilts and I want to get better at quilting them on my machine. Also I've got to the place where I want to make quilts with smaller pieces n just enjoy the process:) thanks for the giveaway I love fig tree but don't have much of it.

Very top of my bucket list is to finish my nephews Eagle Scout quilt! thanks!

On the top of my list is a Voltron quilt for my husband. I have half of it done and I hate it!!

I've been pretty introspective a lot lately, too, and I've been thinking a lot about a personal project/business. Ive long thought it would be fun to own a place that is open to groups of people to come together and craft together for a day. It's always so hard for friends to find a place to all gather and quilt/sew/papercraft/knit/whatever, and I think it would be cool to provide that kind of space. Crazy, I know. These fabrics are beautiful!

Wow - very deep questions today!
On the quilting front, I would love to make myself a quilt this year - I've been quilting for five years, and still don't have one!
What would I do if I knew I wouldn't fail, probably start my own business. I do some work for people at the moment that I kind of fell into, but I've never promoted myself or tried to build that so it's a full time life-supporting thing....
Thanks for the giveaway

If I live long enough, I would like to finish the Buggy Barn pineapple quilt I started two years ago, plus I would make Anna Grahm's Cargo Duffle.

On my bucket list..To make all the quilts I have patterns for. I'm beginning to think I own more patterns than I have time. Especially since I have declared a moratorium on purchasing anymore fabric. I am in the process of finishing my 2nd scrappy quilt. I would love to win some fig tree scraps. It would be a fantastic addition to my scrap collection.

This is a great give away. I love this idea. Bucket list, travel to Alaska. 1 thing I would do if I knew I wouldn't fail. Change carrers. But I have 28 years in this one, so not that realistic.

Patricia said...

Top of my list is to make a New York Beauty quilt AND a Double Wedding Ring. I have the cutter for the DWR and am collecting fabrics so I hope to start that this summer. Since both these will be a "scrapper" these scraps would be perfect!!!! Thanks for giving us a chance to win!

I would love to write and publish a book. Amanda Jean, I turned 40 1 1/2 years ago. It feels younger than it sounds and feels especially younger than it looked when I was a kid.

Someday I would love to make a bed sized cathedral windows quilt.

I'm very keen on one of your PDFs. I would live your scraps but I totally understand that shipping is ridiculous.
I would love to run a marathon. I think it's possible too. But I think I'll start with a half marathon.

On my bucket list is making one of Geta Gama's Trapunto quilts. that will be right after I finish a completely hand stitched quilt. Since the hand stitched quilt is well on its way, I just might get to the trapunto. Your scraps are beautiful as are your patterns. Thanks for sharing.

My bucket list is pretty long - but seeing the Sisters quilt show in Oregon is on the list.
As a side note, I was SO lucky to get one of the last slots in your class in June in Duluth.

I've got lots on my bucket list but at the top currently is finishing a simple, scrappy-ish bed quilt! Thanks for the chance to win. I love anything Fig Tree.

My bucket list is to finish the projects my grandmother started (she passed away last summer)so everyone can have "one last gift" from her.

Bucket Lists. Funny thing about mine. I started it at about your age (40-ish) and have crossed offmany things. Some have been done, but some I've lost interest in (I no longer NEED to own a horse) and have been replaced by other goals. The list, in all honesty, is a constant work in process. At the top of the quilty column is to quilt one of my own quilts on my DSM, but REALLY beautifully (not just functionally adequate). On the non-quilty side, I want to spend a month with my hubby touring the UK.

LeeAnn said...

Oh man. These scraps will help me finish a quilt. I am trying to stretch a charm pack from this same company and it's been lamenting in my WIP pile because it needs "more".

And I'm stepping out and doing the one thing I wanted to do! And I might fail (I hope not). But I'm doing it! I'm staying at home with my daughter and started my own fresh cut flower business. Farmer/florist type of thing. Heavy on the farming. Light on the florist. :) wish me luck!

I'm up for the International Draw !! Canadian ah....

I'm reading Apart at the Seams & its all about trying new things out of your comfort zone. I've been wanting to join the local guild for years & years but have been to scared (not sure of what). So my bucket list is to join the guild!!!!

Bring those scraps over here!
If I knew I wouldn't fail, I would build a retaining wall in my backyard. I'd love to have a decorative one for a flower garden, but I'm afraid it would topple over if I built it. Most projects don't discourage me, but this one does!

The top of my non-quilting bucket list is to take a trip to Disneyland with my kids. I've always wanted to go! Since I love Mary Blair's art, the top of my quilting bucket list is to make a quilt based on It's a Small World at Disneyland.

If I could do anything and I knew I would succeed, I'd run a marathon!

My big to -do is to finish my string quilt - several years in the making. It's time to get it on my bed!

You are so generous to part with such treasured fig tree scraps!! Wow! And at the top of my list right now, is getting my flower beds and gardening in full swing! Pretty soon it will be too hot to be outside most of the day, and that is when I will pick back up my quilting projects :) but for now this New York gal needs the warm air!!

It is fun to read through all the comments. On the top of my bucket list is to go to quilt market. Those sample spree pictures on the net are enough to make anyone want to attend.

oh my! I LOVE fig tree scraps. I buy scraps from their website!!! I would love to win these.
I have so many projects going on. I just started making bits with 1" squares. I'm think mug rugs, but we'll see...I am going to cut all my smaller scraps into 1" or 1.5" squares...

Wow - a scrap giveaway - I'd love to win - I envey your stash. I just finished a total scrap quilt from your book - just need to quilt the top. As I worked thru it - I was still jealous that your scrappy quilts seems so much brighter - but I'm loving that I made a whole quilt from scraps and didnt' give up! For my bucket list - I do want to try to make another scrap quilt soon! My Bucket list if I wouldn't fail would be to see if I would stay at home and get a long arm quilt machine and find a happy medium between sewing time for me and maybe learning enough to quilt other peoples quilts :) Thanks for sharing your scraps with your blog friends!

Zippy Duda said...

I would love to enliven my scrap stash with some new and different scraps! Love what you do with yours.

I have repairs that NEED to be done, but if I were to CHOOSE something to do, I have 3 quilts that I want to finish, and all of them are equally important to me!

A Swoon quilt for me, a skateboard for my younger son, and a denim quilt for my husband.

Travel, and depending on the day it's Rivers in Europe, china, New Zealand, Russia, Chile.

I got a big bucket list boost when I bought my longarm last year and then remodeled a basement into a quilt room. I still need to decorate more but I want my grandkids to make the wall hangings.
I would lovingly use the fabric and be oh so happy to take it off your hands.
Thanks.

Bucket list......I'd love to be finished with our home remodeling, we bought a foreclosure that was partially remodeled. Due to our age, limited time and limited budget this project will probably never be finished. Our home is comfortable, but not as we want it. Recently sewing has been set aside for working in the flower beds. I would like to make a new tote bag soon....need a rainy day for that.
