Welcome to finish it up Friday!
I have no finish to share today. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Tis the season, right? I hope you did better than I did this week!
In lieu of a finish, I thought I would share a photo of my Christmas quilt collection. I've made several over the years, but these are the ones that still live at my house. The candy cane quilt (middle) is my favorite of the bunch! These were made back in 2008 and 2009. It's fun/interesting to see the fabrics I used. My stash has evolved quite a bit since then! It's also apparent that I am pretty consistent in my love for lap size quilts. That certainly hasn't changed!
Also....Christmas came early for me! Last night we had a guild meeting and my friend Mary brought me a HUGE bag of scraps. She was SO happy to be rid of them and I was SO happy to give them a good home! I can not wait to play!! I can only imagine how many finishes will come out of there.... eventually! Thank you, Mary! See, THIS is why I never run out of scraps! :)
How about you? Do you have a finish to share this week? If so, please link up! Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!
I love that candy cane quilt too. I'm going to search for posts about it on your blog... I really don't need another project but a girl can look.
ReplyDeleteYou would be a wonderful recipient of anyones scraps it would be fun to see where the end up.
I love your Christmas quilt collection, and the red and white is my favorite too! And can you please show us how you sort and store that big bag of scraps? I'm drowning in scraps and need some good ideas…
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!!
OOh! Love that collection of quilts! I enjoy big bags of scraps TOO! Adventure awaits. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your Xmas quilts. So beautiful. Enjoy your scraps.
ReplyDeleteHappy Xmas and New Year.
I've been getting more & more into scraps myself. I would love to dig thru the treasures in that bag!
ReplyDeleteOh I am envious of the bag of scraps. I am like you and have not finished anything this week. But I did start some projects so onward and upward.
ReplyDeleteLove the red and white quilt the best.
Debbie
Oh, my, I do like your Christmas quilt collection! They are great, and the red and white is of course my favorite, too! Got to love that red. I'm with Sarah, please show how you sort and store scraps.
ReplyDeleteOh, those Christmas quilts look so fresh hanging from the clothes line. Each of them are so pretty! Lucky you with that bag of scraps. An early Christmas present. Thanks to your friend, you should have a "Mary" Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWhoa - look at those scraps! What a gift!
ReplyDeletejust finished a top yesterday
ReplyDeleteI would love to get a big bag of scraps for Chistmas
ReplyDeleteLike Sarah I would love to see a post about how to organize scraps. I know that I can do a search for it on other blogs, but you actually love scraps and I think would have the best advice. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your Christmas quilts. Now I don't feel guilty about keeping the one I'm quilting - it wasn't finished in time to be the gift I intended it to be, so now it shall be my gift to myself!
Thanks for sharing your lovely Christmas quilts - the colours look especially great on such a crisp day! I've got no finishes to share either but like lots of those who've commented already I'd love to see how you 'make sense' of a bag of scraps.
ReplyDeleteAllison
Your candy cane quilt was one of my earliest inspirations! I made one similar, but with HSTs instead. Still one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI've been bundling up my scraps and giving them away too. I'm just not terribly skilled with scrappy looks and don't have the space to buils an adaquate scrap stash. Lucky girl through, that looks like a pretty sweet trash bag of magic :)
ReplyDeleteI love all your Christmas quilts. But I’m a sucker for them - have two and the fabric to do a third. Do you back yours with cotton? Or perhaps cotton flannel or cuddle cloth. I have one in cotton and one with cuddle, so I’m thinking I might try flannel. Lucky you on the scraps!!
ReplyDeleteIt always feels good to give and receive scraps - especially when the person passing them off knows they'll be put to wonderful use instead of collecting dust like they do at many homes.
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas Quilts are gorgeous Amanda. Love them. As always thank you so much for hosting the link party. Enjoy the holidays. Marie x
ReplyDeleteawesome early Christmas present...and one of the best kind - i think. so when you get a back of scraps like this... how do you start?? do you sort them strictly in colours only..... regardless of the size of the scrap??
ReplyDeletejust curious...
nothing's more easy than brand new pieces of fabric.
a bag of scraps is way more complicated albeit way more fun.
just curious how you (or anyone else) starts with a bag like this.
Such pretty Christmas quilts! I remember helping you baste the one on the far left. :) I think it was the first time I came to see you in Wisconsin. :)
ReplyDeleteAww a bag full of scraps, you lucky girl! that would be Christmas for me too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't made a Christmas quilt in years either so the ones I have are more traditional and don't reflect my current fabric style at all but I do still like them. I started a new one today though that I may turn into a monthly block along to keep me on track for next year. Looks like you have another year of scraps to work with. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI usually give away my scraps too, I get overwhelmed with them. Love your Christmas quilts! Living in Australia, we have no real need for a quilt at Christmas, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to make one lol :)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing everyone's Christmas quilts! Nice scrap bag score :)
ReplyDeleteNot much accomplished around here this week either, though the to-do list is long.
ReplyDeleteSOMEBODY brought some kind of virus home from school (and it decided to stay awhile.) He was home with a fever Monday and Tuesday. So the boys and I all had to stay put, save a trip to the drug store for me. I got it Wednesday, and it really zapped my energy level.
Hope you all have steered clear of all that's going around.
That bag of scraps is my idea of heaven! I love sewing the little pieces from someone else's projects. It lets me appreciate all the different, neat fabric designs.
ReplyDeleteAll three of them are beautiful, especially the candy cane stripe, they must make an amazing and snuggly collection together - and your not quite finished is going to fit right in!
ReplyDeleteYes, I can see why you never run out of scraps, but you have such beautiful patterns for them all. I keep thinking of your birch tree pattern and how you 'enhanced' all those little pieces in such a special way!
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas quilt are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNaughty...Naughty.....AND right before Santa comes!!!! Blaming poor Mary for keeping you in scraps!!!
ReplyDeleteLove all your AMAZING work!!!!! You are the bomb!!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!!
Addie
What a great Christmas gift - all those scraps! Have fun playing, and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteAll I could think of when I saw the bag of scraps was "if these are the scraps, that's gotta be one heck of a sewist!" And then I guessed which Mary it is from and it all made sense. :)
ReplyDeleteJust stunning love them all.HHave a great and fun holiday season.Merry and blessed Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteHello. I would love to link up but how do I go about it? Thanks.
ReplyDeletewow-wee that's a huge bag of scraps. I'm looking forward to seeing what magic you create out of it! Merry Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, I just discovered your blog, I've been missing out! I love your little scrap baskets under your cabinet. Do you have a tutorial for them?
ReplyDeleteNow that's a bag of scraps. LOL
ReplyDeleteI keep some of my scraps but I tend to pass most of them on to a friend of mine.
Love your quilts. My to do list dwindled a little but 2015 is a new year and a new chance to achieve something.
