Welcome to finish it up Friday!
Candy coated 3 is now complete! (This quilt really deserves a more creative name, but I seem to be sorely lacking in that area.) Anyway, after a week with waaaaay too much going on, it feels great to have a finish to celebrate! Pattern is candy coated, from Sunday Morning Quilts. Fabric (for the top) is 100% scraps!
It's quilted very simply, like the one in the book. This is just a free hand squiggle done from side to side about an inch or so apart. (I used my free motion foot with the feed dogs down.) It creates a beautiful, soft texture. I used wool batting for the first time and I really, REALLY like it!
For the backing I used just two fabrics. The multi-colored floral is a linen fabric that came on a decorator bolt, so it is 54" wide. That made piecing the back easy...just two fabrics and I was done. Yay! The fabulous orange floral is an older one from dear stella. It's got a great hand (feel) to it, so this is going to be one fantastic quilt to wrap up in! Gray polka dot binding is a nice finishing touch.
The finished quilt measures 65" x 88". I can't wait to sleep under it!
Oh! I nearly forgot! This is scrap project #72/101.
Now it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thanks, as always, for joining me for finish it up Friday!

Love this scrappy candy coated joy! Yummy!
I seriously wish I had scraps as wonderful as yours! I love your finish!
This is one of my favorites that you've posted on here. I completely love this quilt!
That quilt is just beautiful.
I have come to love wool batting. It is light and warm and washes well. Which one do you use and where do you get it. I often have difficulties to obtain it in Germany.
pure gorgeousness!!!! Love absolutely everything about this quilt. I might have to start making one this weekend :)
So colorful! I could happily sleep under that quilt too. You have such great finishes for your scraps. Thanks for sharing.
It looks fantastic! I love all of the fun colors. :)
Wonderful quilt! Scrap quilts are so joyful and spontaneous! Congratulations.
So...a name... I can't think of what it's called, but you know (especially back in the day) when a television station would go out and there would be just a bunch of colored stripes on the screen? That's what it reminds me of. (in a good way of course!!!) Maybe something like, "Technical difficulties" (nah, not cozy enough) "we interrupt this show to bring you a quilt" (too long?) hmmm... have to think on it. I really like this one!
Love this pattern!
BEEEUtiful!!

Beautiful, Really.
Beautiful quilt! What a different look from the quilt in the book!
We you're cooking on your scrap projects. I had no idea you were already up to #72.

I love every version of this quilt! I'd be interested to hear about the wool batting. I've never used it before.
Good Grief...I love your finish. I am just sitting still while you are a whirlwind of creativity!!
I am constantly in awe of what you do with scraps.
What a perfect scrappy quilt!
Sweet As Candy! Hey, is that a good name? Love the simple quilting. And that wool batting makes this gorgeous quilt look soft and squishy. What a fun and cuddly looking quilt!

Gorgeous! This must be one of your all time favorites!
Last weekend I was at Bay Window Quilt Shop and someone had used your pattern to make the Candy Coated Quilt and it was in the store window along with your book. I guess I should try to make one, too, but I would probably do it in blues.
This quilt makes me think of the display of Jelly Bellies at the grocery store.
Every color you can imagine. This is a definite "cheer up quilt".
I absolutely love it! Beautiful! :)
This is amazing! Absolutely love everything you do with your scraps. I'm going to have to try the wool batting with one of my future quilts.
State Fair. From a distance it makes me think of a bunch of ribbons won at the fair. Man, what I would've given to win a POLKADOT ribbon back then...haha. You've got a real gift with scraps!
Also, I don't think I've heard of wool batting. Thank you for sharing about it.
Amanda, Your quilt is (as always) beautiful. Do you do all of your quilting on your Juki?
Oh, I love it so, Amanda! I want to make one too!
I love it, it's beautiful. Your scraps are lovely, I can see why you can't bear to throw any away! You are getting up there on the scrap projects. Yay, very exciting!
I really love this quilt, so bright and cheery!
Just letting you know that I want to steal this! So good.
This is just the best darned quilt. SO HAPPY. I love it!
Honestly! How can you freehand those lines so perfectly uniformly!
